Here we go................I hate to sound like Blunt, but I watch alot of baseball and you just hardly see white boys doing that type of shit. I agree that the focus is always on brothers or latinos but damm, I'm trying hard to recall a recent example of a white boy dogging a play like that but I just can't....... them ninjas be playing like Pete Rose.
there's a reason for that. Look at the positions on a baseball field then look at the race of the players that play them. Like in football, baseball also has positions where there is more running required than the others. In football, those positions would be the cornerback, running back, saftey and wide receivers. Look at what race of player dominates those positions...
In baseball, the positions that require all the running are up the middle: Center field, shortstop and 2nd base are responsible for more space than anyone else on the field. Now look at what race of people dominates at those positions. Then take a look at what positions required almost no running whatsoever: First base, third base, pitcher and catcher. And to a lesser extent, the corner outfield positions. What race of people dominate at those positions??
The positions that the white guys dominate at require far less running (and hustling) than the positions that the black and latino players dominate at. You wanna see a few white guys dogging it, look for the one who are playing outfield spots. Especially the ones who are known to have "great" throwing arms

I don't buy that argument. Your speaking about defense only which is half the game of baseball. You don't see white boys watching their hr shots for 30 seconds before they slowly make their way to first base. My team's corner outfielders, Bay and Francouer, never dog plays like that, as a matter of fact, they play harder because they are not as physically gifted as Latinos/Blacks are. They gotta work harder to make themselves better. The mets did have a left fielder years ago, a white boy, Kevin McReynolds, who stayed doggin it, but he's the last white boy I remember in our outfield who ever played straight up lazy. Excuses are all well and good, but all this shit gets caught on tape. Jayson Werth, Shane Victorino, Eric Byrnes, these white boys be playing all out, don't deny it, them ninjas will run through fences and break bones just to catch a ball.
You don't see too many brothers playing like that anymore. Some of these new guys, not all mind you, are just plain lazy. Gifted, but lazy and then have the nerve to get tight when their teammates call them on that shit. They're getting paid ridiculous amounts of money to play a GAME. They should play that shit with some heart and pride.

And for every Jason Werth, you have a Jason Giambi, or a Mike Piazza or an Adam Dunn, who WILL stand there and admire the HRs. More often than the media cares to report too. How many times have you seen one of them cats hit a massive shot and watch it go out only to end up on first base when it falls short of the fence. But an announcer would NEVER say that those guys are "dogging it". Unless of course it's a brotha who does it, then it ends up as the lead of the 11:00 news. And let's not forget that the originator of watching your own shot was the one and only Babe Ruth...the original hot dog.
Franceour may not dog it (all the time), but he will make some of the DUMBEST plays in the OF you will ever see. Then, after fucking up a play will rely on arm strength to bail him out. Sail a throw over a cut off man and nary a word is said, but he did indeed just dog it. When it comes to playing the field, the bar is usually set slightly lower for big ambling white guys than black guys. Even the slow ones. The press used to roast Reggie Jackson when he bungled a play in the OF. But when the white guys DO dog it, it's barely noticeable
but once again, none of this excuses not hustling in the field...all I am saying is that the coverage is not very balanced. Griffey never dogged it, and there are other brothas who go all out on the field just like there are white guys who dog it (and latino guys and JAPANESE guys)
