UPS drivers' new $170k per year deal shows that unions (and Joe Biden) may just save the middle class after all | Fortune
Bidenomics and a strong labor movement are in full effect as full-time UPS drivers win a high six figures.fortune.com
Dogs might not be so happy to know that their sworn enemies are about to make salaries in the high six figures. After contract negotiations this summer, full-time drivers for UPS saw their salaries boosted from $145,000 to $170,000 annually including benefits, according to data shared by the shipping company on a recent
Part time and it pays $21hrWhat about the people thst load the trucks?
Yes... you must do something in the hub part time before you apply for a full time position. Insurance covers the grand kids until your dependant turns 26.... Winning.."Total compensation" and "including benefits' means;
your salary + employer contributions to retirement/ 401k + employer contributions to medical/dental/vision benefits.......
The actual salary now will start in the mid $80's - $90K (the $49/hr for drivers is average) and probably top off around $135-$140k...
But to get to driver don't you have to be a damn part time truck loader first?
Is anyone on the board a UPS driver or knows one?
Do they really make the amounts quoted?
Thanks for responding.I've spoken to numerous drivers, they did get the raise. Then something like 1,500 people were fired.
UPS also canceled their last mile contract with USPS, so that meant an extra 50+ daily deliveries for drivers.
For context, UPS used to drop off a bunch of packages, typically smaller ones to various Post Offices for "last mile" delivery. So 1 driver would unload 100 to nearly 1000 packages around Xmas time for the local mail carriers to deliver for them.
That ended so those daily packages now have to be delivered by the drivers themselves. (Which isn't really cost effective, which is why UPS has hinted at bringing back that contract.)
There were some "growing pains" initially after all of the shake ups, but UPS has seemed to level things out. (Same drivers on the same routes thanks to the $$$)
Ding ding ding!!Thanks for responding.
If I am understanding this correctly they gave them what they wanted but then fired people and gave the remaining people more work?
Let me know if I am wrong bc I am trying to see the strategy.
