Good for them! UPS made BILLIONS in profit during the pandemic. So it’s time to pay the people who lined your pockets during that crisis.
Exactly. One thing I can say about the new generation is they are not doing shit without you paying correctly. Corporations are going to have to prepare for this because the baby boomers are practically out of the picture now.

This was the hustle at WSSU...I knew a few homies that worked at UPS part time and was makiing decent money....
A few graduated and moved on up at UPS....
That's good your brother getting that raise...I heard their benefits are good too...
The benefits are good especially if you are a driver. And like I tell people, most of these guys work hard and rough environments. Also, the weather has been very fucked up lately, so they deserve all of this money.

What's even crazier is the OT money they will be getting.
I almost went that route at WSSU, but I’m glad I didn’t. It was good for those staying off campus because cost of living was cheaper then.
Benefits are good for sure. And it’s stable, but I think the manual work is getting to him now that he is 47. He isn’t allows to drive trucks because he has a history of having seizures.
Well deserved.
They don’t get mandatory OT if they are salaries though.
My brother moved from hourly to salary about two years ago. The way he was explaining it to me was that he makes more part time because he can work at much OT as he want to. He can’t do that as salaried unless they offer it.
Of course he gets better benefits, and steadier income.

Yeah, it's unfortunate because I can see that he is tired of trying to maintain the job and raise five kids.
But I told him this 20 years ago when he had jokes about me being in school. I saw pops bust his ass at two jobs all his life.
I didn't want to do that at all. Not because I wasn't capable, but because most black men were DEAD in my family before 70 (including my dad). They work their asses off all their life and only stop because they get sick. They barely get to enjoy the payoffs of their hard work,
Today, I get to sit cozy at the crib remote working, and I only spend three days a week (only 4 hours) as an instructor.
That was the hustle at A&T too. When I was there, they even had a shuttle service to campus for the shifts. They even did tuition reimbursement 100% if you were there from the beginning and end of each semester.
They mess around and still have it there. The biggest difference is these kids are not built like that anymore. I know some students do it with FedEx and Amazon, but it’s not a big of hustle as it was 20 years ago. But I think that program is still there.
Random: I am actually thinking of doing this on the side. I spoke to the director of the healthcare administration program at WSSU and he is a GWU alum...Might actually look more into this at WSSU or a local school...

I’m up to $100 per hour now. If you don’t have to rely on it, then it’s even better.

Because of what UPS did this is going to put a lot of pressure on Amazon.
They do. It’s the go to spot for most kats in the area. UPS will take one anyone as long as you have transportation there.
