But we can make the same argument when New York Latinos claim that Jazz was linear until Jelly Roll Morton and Sidney Bechet started using the Spanish tinge. There is no doubt that Morton and Bechet used it, but the idea that Jazz would not have to continue to evolve without it is insulting, Jazz evolved during slavery, got it's name and sound during Reconstruction and flourished during Jim Crow, it would have continued to evolve either way, just as Hip Hop has evolved in the 5 decades it has existed.
At this point, the pseudo-historians need to shut the fuck up and let real papered historians do the talking and researching.
That includes Tariq, Derrick Colon, and all these other long winded youtubers.
