How Ancient Kemet Connects to West Africa
On September 28, 2016, I made a discovery that changed my life forever

On 28th September 2016, I was standing in an ancient Kushite tomb when I saw something that confirmed everything I knew about our relationship with Kemet.
But that moment of confirmation was built on decades of preparation that began with what Dr. John Henrik Clarke told me years ago.
In the 80s, I was fortunate to meet and build relationships with some of the most significant scholars of that time:
- Na'im Akbar
- Wade Nobles
- Asa G. Hilliard
- John G. Jackson
- Ivan Van Sertima
- John Henrik Clarke
- Dr. Patricia Newton
- Frances Cress Welsing
- Dr. Yosef Ben-Jochannan
These were my heroes and sheroes.
I had both personal and business relationships with them. Everything I do now models the life lessons I learned in their presence. Dr. Clarke taught me that this isn't a rat race—it's a relay race.
The baton has been passed to me.
And I'm running as far as I can with it, then passing it to those coming behind me.
At this point in my life, I'm focused on legacy building. I'm working specifically with young people in their 30s and 40s who have been around me for years.
I'm handing off pieces of my business to them:
- My team has been with me during Egypt study trips for over 15 years—I'm passing that to them after my final 2 tours in 2026
- My daughter has worked with me since she was 4 years old - We've published three books together, and I'm priming her to continue this work

I pour myself into these souls so they'll do the same for young people who approach them when they're in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.
Dr. Frances Cress Welsing said that everyone has a cosmic assignment, and I know that this is my assignment—to do the work, to do the research, and to share this information with those with the greatest need to know.
But before we can build this legacy, we must first understand who we truly are.
We Are the Byproduct of 400 Years of Intentional Destruction
The system was designed with three specific goals:
- To erase our memory
- To separate us from the land of our ancestors
- To make us believe that we are less than we truly are
It's a miracle that we're still alive. It's a greater miracle that some of us have our minds intact and are striving to awaken brothers and sisters who are searching for the light.
We're in a process of remembering, awakening, and allowing ourselves to be vessels for our ancestors' best work.
These concepts exist outside traditional society's norms, but they've maintained us for the last 400-500 years, whether we're conscious of it or not.
Within us is a power that is stronger than our oppressors' ability to destroy us.
Why Africa Matters: The Scientific Truth
"Why focus so much on Africa?"
I hear this question constantly, and it's understandable—everyone on this planet has been miseducated.
Go to the Smithsonian's David Koch Hall of Human Origins. There's a $15 million exhibit established in 2010. Now here's the irony: even though it bears the name of a conservative billionaire, the scientific evidence presented there tells the truth about our origins.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and David Koch got this right:
- 100,000 years ago, Africans were the only people on the planet
- 60,000-40,000 years ago, a group of these East Africans migrated to Eastern Asia
- 40,000 years ago, another group migrated to Western Asia (what we now call Europe)
Process those three pieces of information. Humanity was born in Africa. Period.
There's no such thing as race—race is a false construct created by racists to confuse mankind.
The Nile Valley: Humanity's First University
In the same museum, you'll find an exhibit on ancient Africa.
In that exhibit you will immediately learn about the Nile Valley and ancient Kush. The civilization of ancient Kush rose around the same time as ancient Kemet (Egypt) but lasted 3,000 years longer.
When we talk about Africa, we're discussing:
- The birthplace of humanity
- The birthplace of culture
- The birthplace of civilization
The Nile Valley civilization is a 4,200-mile cultural highway spanning Uganda, Ethiopia, Kush (Sudan), and Kemet (Egypt). Culture migrated with people from south to north.

In Kemet, We Find the Greatest Evidence of Human Achievement
Our African origin becomes even more significant when we examine the specific contributions of the Nile Valley civilizations.
In Kemet, we find the greatest evidence of human achievement when left to our own devices:
- The beginning of architecture
- The beginning of government
- The beginning of agriculture
- The beginning of engineering
- The beginning of science, philosophy, astronomy
- The beginning of everything indicating civilized people
Africa was the source of knowledge, culture, and civilization.
But How Does Ancient Kemet Connect to West Africa and The African Diaspora
Right now, you're probably asking yourself the same question that people ask me all the time.
"Anthony — are you saying that my ancestors are ancient Egyptians?"
I understand why you're asking it.
Here's what 400 years of miseducation has done to us:
- We've been taught that Egypt is separate from Africa
- We've been told that ancient Egyptians were somehow "different"
- We've been conditioned to see ourselves as disconnected from that greatness
- We've been programmed to think we need "permission" to claim our heritage
But to answer the question once and for all, I needed something more than research papers and museum exhibits.
I needed to see it with my own eyes so I could show you what I have seen. I needed physical proof that would silence every doubt, every question, every moment of wondering whether this connection was real.
The Symbol That Confirmed Everything
On September 28, 2016 I made a discovery that changed my life forever.
I was in North Asasif, exploring ancient tombs from the 25th and 26th Dynasties. That's when I found it painted on both tomb’s ceiling in the vestibule.
The Sankofa symbol.

Most of you recognize this heart-shaped symbol from the Akan of Ghana. But finding it in these ancient Kushite tombs - dating back to around 2700 BC - changed everything.
That discovery revealed the migration from the Nile to the Niger.
The Great Migration: From Nile to Niger
Here's what most people don't understand about African history.
There were 6 major migrations of Africans from the Nile to the Niger River. These were strategic relocations carrying knowledge from east to west.
These migrations protected sacred information from northern invaders:
- Persians
- Assyrians
- Greeks
- Romans
- Later came England and France
All of these invaders sent their scientists and scholars into the Nile Valley to strip-mine African knowledge. But our ancestors were smarter than that.
The DNA Connection You Need to Understand
The same people who carried sacred knowledge also carried their genetic heritage. I've been collecting stories from West African cultures. Story after story of ancestors saying they migrated from the Nile River Valley.
The six migrations led to the development of culture and civilization in:
- Ghana
- Senegal
- Gambia
- Ivory Coast
- Nigeria
- Mali (the Dogon people)
It was West Africans—descendants of East Africans who had migrated west over a thousands of years—who were ultimately kidnapped and brought to the Americas.
We carry the DNA of West Africans who also carried the DNA of East Africans from the Nile Valley.
What This Means For You
This is your inheritance.
Your DNA carries the wisdom of the Nile Valley. Your ancestors strategically preserved knowledge for thousands of years so you could reclaim it today.
It should remind us of Kwame Nkrumah's words: "We are not African because we were born in Africa. We are Africans because Africa was born in us."

Africa is in our DNA. No matter where you go in the world, you're carrying your African ancestors with you.
We are the continuation of an ancient story.
My job is to open the door for more research on this important aspect of human migration and human history, so that the generations who come behind us will never have to ask that question again.

Join Me for My Final Tours to Kemet
This is it—my last Egypt study tour after 39 years.
On
July 7th, 2026 and
December 14th 2026, I am leading my final study tours to the land where it all began.
After conducting these transformative journeys since 1987, this will be my last opportunity to personally guide you through the temples, tombs, and sacred sites where our ancestors left their knowledge for us to reclaim.
You'll walk where your ancestors walked.
You'll see what they built.
You'll understand why they preserved this knowledge for you.
This is your moment to receive what your ancestors preserved for you.
The tombs are waiting. The temples are calling. The knowledge that was hidden from invaders and preserved through migrations is ready to be reclaimed.
Reserve your place here. The ancestors are waiting. The question is: will you answer their call?
The relay race continues.
