United States Justice Department sues Apple for illegal monopoly over smartphones

How so? Why should apple accommodate their features for their competitors?

Its not about their features specifically... they've taken technologies that are designed to be platform-agnostic & available to all (NFC, MMS) and intentionally crippled those technologies on their devices.

One big example of anti-competiton they cited in the lawsuit

“Not to make it personal but I can’t send my mom certain videos,” the complaint says one user told Tim Cook, referring to a 2022 interview at a Vox Media event.

“Buy your mom an iPhone,” Cook responded.

If Apple thought they could get away it, I think they'd literally try to get GMail off of iOS.

Microsoft was sued for the exact same thing decades ago which benefited Apple and made it possible for us to use things like Chrome and Safari on Windows

This is coming down the pike, these companies seeing Tik Tok wiped out, and now Apple, you know some nonsense is coming back if it doesn't already now. I did not sign up to be spied on. When I work on something, it feels like I am being watched.

lance Armstrong was successful than they found out he was doing so illegal.. successful dosent necessarily mean not being grimey
You comparing a dope fiend to a Global Entity that is virtually the standard when it comes to innovation.

This LIKE NASA getting sued because only they shuttles can dock to the ISS.

Apple has various products outside their phone.. like I said they made certain things difficult for their customers
can I plug in ps1 controllers into a n64?

Can I play a sega Saturn disc in a GameCube?

How did Sony get away with blue ray being the standard?

Should blue ray not be on Xbox(Microsoft) ?

Can I run linux on my Amazon kindle?

Fast forward to today, only 2. A droid and a iPhone

Did beepers and pagers get a us lawsuit?

Are landline phones gonna sue the cell phone industries???

It’s crazy how a standard gets sued because the masses followed suit.

All you have to do it not buy anything apple and you'll have no problems with them. How hard is that to do?

A lot of people buy apple products cause it's a status to own such items as childish as that sounds it's a fact;I own all of these apple products and I am some body
Its about regulation. Its about keeping companies honest with regards to practices and treating their customers fairly.
A company is not supposed to have a stranglehold on its customers, period.
Businesses are expected to adhere to fair practice standards. When a business gets too big for its britches and thinks it can run over its customers, that's when the government is supposed to step in and pump the brakes on that kind of activity.

You own an Apple product because you choose to own an Apple product.

I don't own anything Apple.
We're talking about two different things: consumer choice vs. customer protection.
Example: There are ISPs that have a monopoly in certain areas if you want business class internet speeds. The government has to step in to break up the monopoly or else the customer gets gouged by the company.
According to your logic, the answer is just don't have an internet-based business.
That's not a good answer.
The best answer is to protect the customer from bad business practices. That extends to every business no matter what they sell.

I listened to Garland read all the charges. And, they are the reason why I love my IPhone.
