I blame mental illness: I hope he gets the help he needs. As for the Ukrainian immigrant, I blame ICE for not deporting her; if they would have deported her then she'll be alive today.

Yeah, RIP to her, but my comment was more about Ukrainians getting preferential treatment while many non-White people are being deported in droves or not being allowed to immigrate here in the first place. Now many White folks are using her death to rail against the Black community when I thought many of them were against immigration in the first place. Now an immigrant is the poster-child to espouse their racist views about what's wrong with African-Americans. The irony is killin' me, no pun intended.

When I used to ride the bus to work, there was an incident in China where a dude sat behind a woman and just up and decapitated her. I never sat with somebody behind me again, I would stand the whole ride if I had to. Especially since my route had a pickup in front of the state hospital. You just gotta watch your surroundings in public spaces, get off the damn phone and pay attention. I will never understand how people walk down the street and ride buses with air pods and headphones on, I need to hear what's going on around me.
I remember, some dude decapitated someone on a Greyhound and the bus driver had to lock the guy from the outside til the police showed up,along time sgo..
I used to be one of those people that wear earphones when I caught the bus and walk home. It's rare for me to do it now.
So many layers to this very sad and unfortunate, the lack of situational awareness on the victims part and the fact the perpetrator was basically ignored by the system designed to get him the help he needs, it's not a hate crime when the person is certified mentally unstable. He may not do any time in regular prison and be sent a mental institution for the criminaly insane.
As a resident of Charlotte NC for the last 19 years and someone who has volunteered at the men's shelter, I will say this.......
This guy had mental issues, he was well known to the police for multiple psychotic events, he was also a criminal, no doubt because of his mental health problems he could not hold down a 9 to 5.
I feel bad for the innocent woman, she did not deserve to be treated this way having her life taken senselessly.
The media and propaganda machine is using this to further a narrative. Add in the fact that she was an immigrant from Ukraine while USA backs a Ukrainian war with Russia and you have both political parties cherry picking this incident to argue their talking points.
So many layers to this, why was the brother out on the streets and not in a mental health facility? (De-funding of mental health programs)
Also, media is quick to point out and show the faces of those seated near by, they say didn't help. So now those folks are catching heat. As if its black folks duty to save white folks. I'm pretty sure some them called 911 and reported the incident to CATS train conductor. Yet no mention of that, only narrative presented, white woman attacked, blacks did nothing.
I get it folks are emotional because it was violent and caught on video. Sadly, this is now weaponized.
