Uh, Oh... Batman vs. Superman not looking too good.

Considering how everything tries to copy everything else which is the safe route. How could you not give respect to Watchman, Spawn, Blade, MoS etc that try to be original with their projects? Seriously, do we really want or need every damn comic book adaptations to look and feel like another Marvel movie? Come the hell on now.. How would you ever get anything new?
What was original about MOS?

McWeeny...is that his real name...?

n how u take anything he say serious...lol

I dunno fam - Drew been around for years and he always used his code name. He was a lurker on this board and others and was headlining articles at Aint It Cool News. He even turned that shit into a gig writing scripts and doing some dr work here and there.

If he has his hands on some info, 9 times outta 10 its legit.

robocop is still an iconic should've been rated r movie that still stands the test of time

CO SIGN.

Robocop. Heat. 48 Hours. Blade. Rambo: First Blood. Total Recall. Predator. Young Guns. Terminator. Terminator 2. Die Hard. The Thing. Bloodsport. Alien. Aliens. Conan. Highlander. Lethal Weapon. Action Jackson. Point Break. Escape From New York. The Matrix.

SO many of the best old school, fan favorite and cult classic action flicks were rated R and most seem tame by today's standards. We had to sneak to see all them shits, that's what made it cool too. They pushed the limits but never too sexually, just with the action.

Really, Im not sure when it all changed. It could've been 1989s Batman, maybe the X men - somewhere the suits just wanted $ and it didn't matter what the flick was about they were going to aim it at teens.

To me Star Wars and Indy aside, PG 13 HAS ALWAYS FUCKED AND HAND CUFFED A GOOD ACTION MOVIE.

the worst thing they did was show doomsday..they fucked up on that..that was like showing jigsaw get up from the floor in saw in a preview or showing apollo die in rocy 4 preview..certain things u never show...i'm not gonna front they should've never showed that football scene from darkknight rises in the preview either..it def came off blah when i saw it in the movies cause i knew what to expect

CO SIGN COMPLETELY.

In the trailer: That stadium scene was amazing, the editing was on point, the kid singing over the action... wow...
In the movie: Not so much... it fell flat.

Andre said it on Black Nerd, this is the trailer they shouldve started with and leave it at that. Matter fact after seeing Deadpool and how folks loved Suicide Squads trailers - somebody in marketing department got fired (B V S) and somebody got moved around.

And that's where Marvel excels.

They rebooted and moderinzed their characters 16 years ago with the Ultimate Universe. They were successfully able to merge the old with new and create the MCU.

They found a company in Disney that understands their vision and allows them to operate as an independent studio without too much mirco managing.

DC main problem is Warner Bros. DC's top decision maker is a WB exec not someone to at DC who understands the product.

Yeah. Seems plausible.

When I seen how they explained Thor and his world, I said damn, they onto something. It started with the comic book writers. They gave them the respect of adapting their ideas whole and then making it work for the public. To make a God from the comics into a literal alien and make a race of Gods into alien beings , the Rainbow bridge became a teleportation device and the fact that their tech is so advanced, they are beyond starships and simple science - that fit right into the MCU. PERFECTLY.

Watchmen was excellent because Snyder stuck CLOSE to the source material. MOS didn't work for me because it felt like they tried to cram too many different films into a Superman film.

Watchmen was good. Very good. But not great, I bet because did stick too close at times. And when Snyder and crew changed the source material - some folks bitched about the ending but no... I think it works BETTER than the comics. The squid never sat right with me. It was organic and sick and I thought holy shit, that was left field but to sum up the story around Manhattan - as the first and ONLY super powered being in that world - yes. Watchmen was ahead of its time.

because the execs who control the stories are a bunch of dumbasses who do everything in hopes of not pissing off their white boy fanbase.

THIS

And they aint never happy. And they all white too.

oNE

And they aint never happy. And they all white too.
man...they are the biggest bunch of sissies you'll ever run across. they think they're being persecuted into nonexistence...because their favorite superhero isnt being portrayed properly...in a PRETEND STORY.

you're right.

never.

happy.

I know no idea is original, but isn't some of this the back story for the alien race based on Norse Myth in Star Gate the series.Marvel put their own spin on it and retooled it to fit their Thor character, however, Star Gate also used the idea of myths really being advanced aliens and they also had a version of Thor.granted the versions of Thor are completely different from each other.

Whats ironic is that Thor started off as a God but due to MCU having enough insight to realize how outrageous and racist it was they were smart enough to reduce Thor to a Alien... Meanwhile D.C. went out of their way of elevating Superman from a alien to god statues and now they are stuck trying to make a movie where having Jesus Christ as a hero to be plausible and exciting..
D.C. would be so much more interesting if they were to get rid of the very two characters they put all their stock into, Batman and Superman... By being so top heavy they lack the flexibility Marvel has with their characters... Mater fact MCU accidentally got lucky by them not having Spiderman initially in their universe that way they were free to develop all of their characters with out having to put too much stock in one iconic hero...

they need to do the riddler in a movie..but make him like simon from die hard 3 mixed with phonebooth mixed with a lil jigsaw...make the whole movie 1 whole long rollercoaster ride about batman having to use his wits, throw in some action, him failing, a thriller, mix with a who done it..don't even have the riddler be in it that much..in fact mostly a voice like how kiefer sutherland did it in phonebooth

They have put so much stock in the Joker instead of developing interesting people like the riddler.. Seem like they are stuck on the Joker like Spiderman is stuck on the Goblin.. How many times are they going to see these guys get arrested and killed and keep coming back...:smh:

yeah joker is that dude but they def could throw in somebody who could juss be as good in the movie..see u don't even have to give riddler mad screen time..juss scatter missions everywhere, puzzles, recordings, etc and have batman running around gotham trying to solve/stop them..batman running around confused mixed with chaos hasn't really been done yet

i liked it, i just wished the ending was different.

ninja do you have every response ive made written down so you can fuck with me about it a year later?

cause on one hand if you DO thats pretty fucked up...but on the other thats pretty damn funny.
All of your super hero posts I have memorized.

Same with your dark knight secret agent quotes.

"Fighting with just upper body and elbows"

U not of the only few posters I pay attention too honestly

But nigga I remember everything from everybody

IMO DC is in Love with Lex Luther and I can't figure out why. Superman had so many formidable foes in its comics its ridiculous to keep recycling Lex Luther. I think people would love to see something different.

Hey DC here's a fresh idea, "try a different enemy" the series might show better numbers.

I saw a story/post saying Barbara Gordon gonna be in the film, has anyone else heard that?

I heard 2 different scenarios, one that they will lay the foundation for bat girl or that she will be crippled from being shot by the joker and become oracle and a flashback will be shown of joker killing Robin and crippling Barbara Gordon

It seems like a lot is going on in the film; maybe thats why the Execs are worried; maybe they feel like the film is all over the place; or its just too much shit in it..

Thanks

IMO what's gonna doom this movie is trying to introduce too many elements and concepts.

I think they trying to build batman's history for this universe to show how fucked up mentally he is and why he retired. Superman is taking a backseat lol but if they do it right with the flashbacks then it can work for the future batman films.

"JUSTICE LEAGUE" TO BEGIN PRODUCTION IN APRIL

"Entertainment Weekly" has learned that"Justice League Part One" will begin filming on April 11. The news comes from both directorZack Snyder and Warner Bros. Snyder is currently in the UK preparing to start production, which will begin just a few weeks after the release of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." "Justice League" will shoot at Warner Bros.' Leavesden studios in southeast England; "Wonder Woman" is currently filming in the UK.

“The idea that we could begin to boot up a Justice League concept was a cool thing,” Snyder told EW. "It was a little bit of an ‘about time’ moment, and I don’t blame [the studio] for feeling that way, because it’s a long time coming. But I do feel like it’s a little bit of a creative hurdle. It seems like an easy thing to do at first glance, the idea that, ‘Oh, we just get the rest of the superheroes in there.’ But you have to [establish] a world where they can exist.”

The article mentions that in addition to introducing Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) into the new DC film universe launched with 2013's "Man of Steel," "Batman V Superman" will include cameos from the Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

The announcement goes against the rumors that surfaced a few weeks ago, which posited that Warner Bros. might switch out "Justice League" in favor of a solo film starring Ben Affleck's Batman, among many other changes. This announcement seems to confirm that Warner Bros.' plan for their DC movie-verse is still on track as planned.

"Justice League" arrives in theaters on November 17, 2017.

Batman V. Superman is going even darker for an R-rated release

The news regarding Batman V. Superman arrives via FilmRatings.com, which monitors the ratings that the MPAA assigns to films. While the PG-13 theatrical version of Batman V. Superman will indeed be available when the movie hits the home-video market, the R-rated version will be released as part of the Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition package.

The site reports that Batman V. Superman initially received the restricted rating from the MPAA due to extreme sequences of violence — which should come as no surprise to anyone who’s seen the franchise-starting Man of Steel and its brutal, neck-snapping climax.

The decision to release an R-rated cut of Batman V. Superman after the success of Deadpool will probably seem like a familiar course of action for Warner Bros. Pictures and its stable of DC Comics superheroes.

Years ago, the success of Marvel Studios’ integrated movie-verse led Warner Bros. to hastily announce their own cinematic universe — one that extends well into 2020 but lacks any connection with the already established (and flourishing) television universe for DC Comics superheroes. Instead of playing to the traditionally lighter tone of many DC Comics characters, the studio has focused on replicating the success of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy with grimmer, darker, and more adult-oriented films featuring Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of their characters.

As many pundits have already suggested, the success of Deadpool now appears to have given the studio a green light to go even darker with their iconic, formerly kid-friendly heroes.

Directed by Zack Snyder (Man of Steel, Sucker Punch), Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice pits the two superheroes against each other in a vicious brawl between two of the world’s most dangerous vigilantes. The film hits theaters March 25.

Rumor: Ben Affleck Rewrote the BvS Script in His Batman Costume

We all know about method actors. Are method writers a thing? Because according to an unnamed insider of unknown origin and access, Ben Affleck would rewrite portions of the Batman v Superman script while wearing full Dark Knight regalia.

From US Weekly:

The Oscar-winning screenwriter “would go into wardrobe and get all suited up for the day in his Batman suit,” explains the insider of the action flick. “Then he would sit around reworking the script. Ben wasn’t thrilled with it and would find himself on multiple occasions fixing it the day of.”

While it’s worth noting that Affleck was tinkering with the Batman v Supermanscript even into shooting the film, it’s really not that unusual. And sadly, this probably wasn’t Affleck getting into his costume just to feel “Batman-y enough” to write his dialogue; it’s much more likely that Affleck had to get the cape and cowl on for the day’s shooting, had a bunch of downtime between takes, and used that time constructively by punching up the script.

That said, I have a glorious image in my head of Affleck renting a hotel room, bringing his Batman costume and his MacBook Pro, and then screaming at Microsoft Word for a week until the film met his standards. “’Clippy! CLIPPY! DO YOU BLEED?! You will.’ Hey, that’s pretty good.”

Like I said in another post. Knee jerk copycat industry. All they see is dollar signs and they think R rating will get them more money. They MADE a PG 13 movie. But after DEADPOOL's success they gonna release an R version.

FUCK OUTTA HERE

If a G rated superhero movie came out and did a billion I guess they'd go the other way. They are NEVER going to get it. DEADPOOL success has NOTHING to do with an R rating and EVERYTHING to do with a FAITHFUL adaptation, true love for the character from all creators involved, AND NO STUDIO INTERFERENCE. Ryan and co been trying to make this for 12 years. Mufucka read 20 years worth of comics. The guy playing the character KNOWS the character inside and out. The fans pressured the studio into making it so they gave them the money and said "Go do it". And the budget was'nt shit. As Ryan put it their budget was "The cocaine budget for other blockbuster movies".

If DC would just take the time to find the most passionate talent and give them free reign, they could pull off magic like that. Instead they just come with the same old "big names" and churning out lackluster shit, trying to live just off the character name.

I really think these muthafuckas should have Grant Morrison write or co-write these fuckin movies.
