I Would Love To See Him And Rampage If It Were Possible. That Would Be Like Joe Frazier & Ali.

I could actually see one of them going up in weight, or the other coming down.

Silva's got a lean build. Not sure what he'd look/fight like at 20 lbs heavier.

Jackson's a strong cat, but isn't necessarily ripped. He could lose a few pounds and still be top-level. If he dropped 20 though ... that might be taking it too far. That's just under 10% of his body weight.

Even though it's the UFC money is still a factor. if they were offered the right digits i bet ya they would bite. that is one fight I'd pay to see. Even bet on. I would pick Silva.

Mixed martial arts is the fastest growing sport in the world. UFC is the most recognizable division/organization amidst the many selections the world over at the moment. It's just a shame that the money the fighters are pullin' doesn't anywhere near match what they're worth. As Sports Illustrated noted ... the approximate 2006 PPV REVENUE FIGURES for the following joints were as follows:

UFC ($220 million)
WWE ($200 million)
BOXING ON HBO ($177 million)

I would pick Silva as well if him and Rampage were to match up. * So long as he was able to lock in a few of his clinches, but also tire out Q' if the fight wore on. Both cats push the pace ... we're all just waitin' with bated breath until the day we get to see/experience fam' with his world-renowned slams. His fights thus far in the UFC have been quick, or often ground-based (5 rounds with Dan Henderson). It's gonna be great seeing dude powerbomb muthafuckas into KO and TKO'ism :D

Money does talk. But I heard Rampage complaining about working out(he says he hates it:lol:) and making weight now. Coming down may actually be too much for him.

Only if someone good comes down in weight will Silva have a challenge. Nobody in his weight class currently is fuckin with him.

My friend, have you heard of Frank Shamrock. Shamrock has the groundskills to deal with Silva, this would be such a colussus fight. I think Shamrock would submit him in 3 rounds.

Pure fucking ignorance. Silva would MURDA that pass his prime fool with his 2nd hand BJJ.

Silva is on ANOTHER level y'all aint learn that YET?!

by the way for the technical fight heads

I totally missed this

thats the next level skills I'm talking about
thats a scissor sweep with a half thai plumb
to set it up.

LOL Rampage would beat the shit out of Silva.Dan Henderson would too. That said,Im proud of him and he is a great champ.
prior to their first fight,Hughes said that if Silva beat Rich he would go up in weight and fight him.I'd love to see that fight.

I'd pick Silva too. Last time I saw Rampage in a Muay Thai clinch, it was against Vanderlai Silva. We saw how that went.

Silva's damn good. Look at how effortless he made that look. He waited for his opportunity and judging from the way it looked ... at first glance you wouldn't think he'd be able to control Ace's lower extremities like that (from his back) with such a fluidly smooth technique. That shit was quality!

y'all keep underestimating the man if you want

ask this nigga right here how easy it is to "beat the shit out of him"

That roided Vanderlai was a whole lot stronger that Silva.Vanderlei was a whole lot better at takedown defense and hit a whole lot harder than Silva.Rampage would win this fight easily. He would get the takedown and GnP.

I think a matchup between him and Louiseau would make a good fight.

notice the right leg collapses Franklin's leg, the left leg throws him off and the hand on the neck breaks down Franklin's posture. All in one motion!

Silva taking cats to class. If you not impressed then you really don't know what you seeing.

Here's Silva sparring full force with another can

maybe you've heard of him?
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
a guy that gave Fedor a run for his money TWICE and sub'd Crocop

LMAO...See this is the difference between me and you.I actually train and spar with some of these dudes. You watch a season of The Ultimate Fighter and think you are an expert. You try and make me seem unknowledgeable by acting like I dont know who Noguerira is.But then you show a standup sparring session as evidence that Silva would win a MMA fight. That standup sparring session doesnt mean shit.Nogueria is a ground fighter.Him sparring Silva standing up was more to train his standup not to "win" a fight. In a fight Nogueria would be trying to take the fight to the ground where he will have a huge advantage over Silva. On top of that sparring doesnt mean shit.Ive personally witnessed nick Diaz get his ass handed to him by a 130 pound philipino in sparring. In a MMA fight,Nick would hand subbed him easily.

The point is Silva can and does bang with a world class Heavy Weight striker. He can take punches from a guy that big and strong and answer with his own. Silva got his BJJ black belt from the Nogs but who can submit who now? I don't know Silva has got better and better on the ground.

So in which arena is Henderson or Rampage gonna beat his ass? Sure as hell not on the feet. And judging from all that hugging those two did in their last fight not on the ground.

Is that the Filipino boxer ya'll brought in for a while? Dude is a sav. And Warrior 7, the Nog brothers gave Silva his blackbelt in BJJ so I think that answers your comment on who would sub who. Also lil Nog is a pro boxer, trains with the Cuban Olympic boxing team, and has many pro boxing fights. I'm not saying he would win a stand up war with Silva but his boxing skills should be respected.

When you reach that elite blackbelt level I bet they sub each other all the time when they roll and you see how Silva does sparring with Minotauro. Silva has been training with the Cuban Olympic wrestling team according to some recent interviews.

Silva is not on that "elite blackbelt level." If he rolls with elite blackbelts they would sub him. No hate, I mean he's good on the ground but he's not at that level where he would be tapping out guys like Roger Gracie, Marcelo Garcia, or Jacare. Those are elite blackbelts.

I think Dan Henderson could beat Silva. It would be a good fight though.

Take a look at all of the MMA styles. Out of wrestling, boxing, jui jitsu, judo, karate, muy thai, and kick boxing, wrestlers usually come out on top.

weren't you one of the ones saying Franklin would give Silva hard time this time around?

:smh:

I am not saying that wrestlers can't be beat but the top fighters in the world got beaten by wrestlers: Nogueira, Cro Cop, Liddel, Rua, etc.

I think my man Sokoju is a wrestler too.

Sokoudjou is a Judoka

CroCop's last two losses were to a Savate style kick boxer with a tiny bit of defensive ground, and a BJJ guy with a nice high kick.

Liddell got out punched twice

LMAO @ how little you actually know.Mino is worlds ahead of Silva on the ground. What makes Silva an "elite blackbelt"?Has he placed in Mundials?ADCC? To my knowledge he hasn't competed in one major BJJ tourney.Im not saying he doesn't have skills, but if you knew fighting you would agree with all of my points.Silva is a good fighter and a great 185 champ right now but he is hardly invincible.Strikers in MMA don't do well when they go up a weight class.Chuck would KO Silva rather easily.Rampage and Dan would both take Silva to the ground and maul him for a fight stoppage.

This was a few years ago.He went back to hawaii a year ago.I dunno if he came back or not.Curious, which days do you train? You like the two blackbelts there now?

you a hater.

All this rampage talk.. Silva should NOT under any circumstance go up ot down in weight. He has found his sweetspot and if he changes his weight well see a watered down version. Rampage probly shouldnt go down eighther... he has a hard enough time training as it is.. but if rampage went down in weight id take Silva.

As for Frank shamrock... hes still damn good but i think Silva would win that one. Good that you mentioned it though because it would indeed be a good fight. Shamrock is a dirty fighter and sometimes that makes all the difference(i know it does for me :D).

Henderson fights better at that weight so that would be a decent option too. I think these would all be good fights but still i cant see him losing to any of these cats.

Great thread, everyone. Lots of good commentary from cats who know their stuff! Big props to all.

Make sure ya'll hit up JOHNIZ's 'in case you missed it' MMA thread as well ... all the best, fight fam' ...

Anyone watching that new series UFC WIRED? Rogan hosts it ... and it comes on THE CW here on the westcoast (check the 1st link below to see where it airs in your area). Good shit ... it's very similar to the UFC UNLEASHED programs of compilations of fights that Spike TV airs. It commenced 3 weeks ago on October 6th.

Here are the tv broadcast times for various markets:
