Merab is much like Rousey.

He has that ONE big thing that was unstoppable for a long time.

Yan stuffed that shit tonight and FOUGHT Merab!

Merab is not a gonna KO or TKO anyone for real. He will wear you down w/ cardio and takedowns and takedown attempts.

Once you stop that and start tagging that big melon of his, you will have a chance to beat him like Yan just did.

What's incredible about Merab is the pacing and cardio / endurance. He definitely leaned on the fact that he could outwork just about anyone, but as you noted - he is NOT going to KO / TKO anyone. Always interesting hearing his coaches, and many MMA media / journalists say he's got the best cardio that they've ever seen in the entire sport. "The Machine" nickname being so apt.

Credit to Yan!

I haven't seen the fight yet, but plan on checking it out in the AM.

Damn.....I didn't realize she was out for 21 months!!

Love to watch her fight!

If I remember correctly Laura Sanko was doing color commentary for the fight that got cancelled right before walkouts back in May of this year against Erin Blanchfield. The medical issue involving a seizure led to the cancellation. Sanko noted the issues were quite serious, but didn't elaborate due to confidentiality reasons / having more insight into the situation.

Also from last year ...

In mid-2024 shortly after UFC 299, Barber had a near-death experience involving a combination of pneumonia, strep throat, and a staph infection which led her to be hospitalized for nine days.[54]
