He's good but he's not what they were selling him as
Others know more about UFC fighters than me, but I watch.
And when a muthafucka specializes in wrestling and only wants to take you down, shit gets different.
O'Malley wants to stand and exchange, Dvalishishis wants to take him down and O'Malley knows that so he's out of his comfort zone and always on guard to stop it.
But yes he's a solid fighter but he ain't the best or great.
What's amazing about Merab "The Machine" is that he's just that. Peak / elite level cardio / endurance.
Many of the media in the sport have said he's right up there with the best of all-time regarding cardio; if not the best. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there was a fight in recent years wherein he had nearly 50 takedown attempts over the course of 25 minutes. That's incredible. Nearly 2 TD attempts per minute. As his opponent, how the hell are you supposed to get your reads and set up your offensive game effectively, lol?
Add to that a solid wrestling / grappling game, and he's a handful for most people. UFC gave him the long road to the title shot, but he's worthy of champ status.
