UFC 214 Jon Jones Vs Danny Cormier

Problem is that to this point none of the wrestlers that Jones has fought has been able to consistently take him down let alone keep him down. Brock is stronger but if Jones has a reach advantage he'll definitely use it and as mentioned earlier Brock doesn't like getting hit.

It's 80-84 with reach, not nearly as much as an advantage as Jones is accustomed to. And brock is lightening quick with his takedown. Shit, brock was able to take Cain down twice.

Yeah - it would be interesting to see the contracts and PPV buyrates for Jones & Lesnar respectively. See how they stack the card around them.

Looking back ... after that battle with diverticulitis ... I wonder if Lesnar ever regrets taking that fight with Overeem upon losing his title a year prior? Only took Reem half a round to stop him.

He that shit twice, and should have just stayed away until he resolved it and had about a year or so to get back right. It's like Cain with that shoulder(ironically, he fucked it up against Brock).

But you know Dana has no fucks to give about these fighters. Just wants his fat face in the middle of them on that podium so he can get his bread. :smh: Reem went straight for that body.

That gameplan was excellent. Brock returns after major surgery and over a year away ... attack that body. I was hoping Mark Hunt was gonna walk-off KO Brock last July at UFC 200.

Dana Red Face ... plenty of jokes on The UG and Reddit about how he looks like he's gonna burst. He's Ari Emanuel's bitch these days for real.

Woodley says Dana better apologize or he bout to start leaking some shit. TALK YOUR SHIT TYRON!

And he tore his shoulder in the fight

Gotta say I agree with Frank Mir here. Ya can't be crying in front of everybody after you get your ass kicked.

I agree w/ Frank to a point. I just feel that Daniel was out of it and he's an emotional dude.

Plus, Frank says he would cry, but just do it away from the public.

His bar fight analogy is not accurate. These are top level athletes training for months, it's different.

True. End of the day, you can't change what happened and you can't control these things

But the principle is the principle

Cormier would kick Mir's ass EVEN in his prime AT HEAVY. It just means that fight meant a CAREER for DC. He doesn't know how far DC has come, what this man over come, all the LOSSES in college, in life, finally making it over, and then losing to his nemesis. Cormier was looking great out there. man fuck this guy, white folks talking REAL reckless.

I am a Bones fan, but I respect Cormier's grind, all respect to him.

This is why Joe Rogan should've never interviewed DC after the fight. Daniel is much too emotional. I'm sure Cormier is on suicide watch.

Definitely true.

I've been trying to find if they ever did get to fight. I know they were scheduled to. Frank seems to be enjoying another man's victory a little too much.

But Jesus, it's true. I wanted Cormier to win. I appreciate the fact that he was.going for it and his passion.

But it's a simple thing. Two men fought for the same spot. This happens ALL THE TIME. Men get their dreams taken by other men.

I didn't wanna see that. Disappointment is fine. Crying when a man beats your ass is just..

Exactly. He tried to get out of the ring. They kept him in there. He didn't know what was going on.

Yeah the irony 3 years later, someone on Sherdog mentioned this video over the weekend.

I like Bones and DC but I felt going into the fight
that Jones skillset would overcome DC.

However DC this looked very impressive with his standup
in this fight, he matched the hands but Jones unorthodox striking with
the elbows, lowkicks i.e. set up the headkick perfectly.

Joe Rogan since has apologized, but the damage was done. He could be dealing with a concussion or worse. Since his daughter passing, this has to be the most devastating and emotional loss in his career....and to Jon Jones of all people. His hated enemy. Joe Rogan was looking for that scoop. That sad look still in his eyes after he went backstage. Mabey he'll retire, and I pray he gets over this.

Me too. I'm a huge DC fan. Mostly because if his personality and work ethic. Good dude.

Tyron fought an excellent fight as posters were saying previously.

styles make fights, sometimes they are exciting sometimes they

are more tactical...

dude he fought from what I understand was a takedown specialist, and he couldnt do shit..

and he is correct.. gsp dont want to fuck with tyron especially after being away from the game so long..

he is also correct about fans sayin he was a boring fighter when he was in the game....

Another key factor we all have to remember is that he's (Woodley) in his mid-30s now and has status in the sport. He's a champion ... has been on some big cards in recent years (and probably has PPV points as well) ... has the Fox Sports 1 panel work ... as well as the film projects. If he were to lose his championship status ... it would be tough to make his way back to the title given that he's been at odds with the organization in recent memory, and would be in his late-30s by then. Similar to how the odds were stacked against Maia in getting this most recent title shot ... and being a difficult sell as a BJJ specialist.
