UCLA (hoops) is SAD this year

Just finished watching the game and what a difference a year makes. Or a couple of years.

Cal State Fullerton 68
UCLA 65 OT

Not just because they lost but how they lost. Fullerton put a 3-2 Zone on them to negate three point and outside shooting. But there was no alternative for the Bruins. They didn't make enough adjustments.

And Cal State Fullerton kept penetrating.

UCLA looks malnourished and mighty light these days. They have some height but they're slow.

Though CSUF controlled most of the game, UCLA had opportunities. B-ball IQ could've overcome the athleticism of CSUF for the W in OT.

But UCLA doesn't look witty nor smart.

That Pac 10 schedule, though the conference as a whole was hit hard by the NBA, is going to be brutal for UCLA. Prepare for a long season Bruins fans.

Wow.:smh:

Man I knooooowwwww. That fucking #1 recruiting class last year might be the worst over hyped class ever. Jermie Anderson just sucks, Jrue left, Gordon is so so, Bobo Morgan doesn't even get to play (hurt?), and Malcolm Lee can't shoot for shit.

I'm just waiting on this guy:
Josh Smith (6-9 or 6-10) 270 five star out of Washington

Oh I would like to add that the best 2 players on the court were the two from Cal State. That Thompson and Anderson guy were killing the bruins. Ben get your recruiting shit together.

:smh: Fucker picked Jermie Anderson over Larry Drew at UNC WTF?

I hear you. They look terrible for a UCLA squad. Even in y'alls recent down years, I believe early Kapono and Ray Young, y'all had enough athleticism and shooting to at least compete.

I've never seen it this bad out there. Y'all need a plan before the conference schedule starts.

Good luck and dude up top looks like a start.

WTF??!!!

Portland, 74, UCLA 47...

GAWD DAYUM :eek::eek::eek:

UCLA is toast this year...What happened to the Howland era (and that recruiting class you all are/were talking about)?

That thread I made has got to be the worst fucking thread ever in this sports forum. I believed the hype. Jrue Holiday leaving early and the other players being overrated has caused a panic in Westwood.

Only positive I see is that UCLA best recruit 5 star Tyler Honeycutt is not back from his injury yet so he may be able to bring some excitement to this team. Don't know about wins though he only a freshman.

Whoa.:smh:

Portland beating UCLA 74-47 . . .

"The 27-point loss was tied for the program's worst against an unranked nonconference opponent -- in any decade. Only a 1964 loss at Illinois was as bad."

Portland's an experienced squad with a solid coach and they still have Nik Raivio, but 27 points at the house (Anaheim)? Damn they need a plan.
Back when UCLA lost that game i did a god damn double take. I can understand UCLAs sorry ass losing to Portland St...but the Portland Pilots? :smh:
That cracka ass team

Yeah. I was chopping it up with an alum today and he thinks it's grades. The kid probably can't keep up academically. That's what I was told.
Naw got more info on the situation going to a couple of UCLA message boards. The kid has an attitude problem, you can tell when you watch the games he just does little shit that will make you go wow this dude an asshole.

With them losing also doesn't help. Word is him and Ben Howland been butting heads the kid wants to be PF but Howland wants him at C. They say he talks back to the coaches and yells at his teammates.

He been considering transferring for a while now and what made it go down was at practice Howland in front of the team told him to get on the same page as everyone or leave and to take 2 days to decide. Drew made his decision.

Crazy thing is the kid says he wanted to be in an uptempo style of offense(not UCLA style), and the scouting notes on this kid said he could be immature(UCLA knew what they were getting). Both him and Ben Howland made terrible decisions.
