I know I know sorry ladies but who else am I to turn to? :D

I am going to fry some fish. I use canola oil cause it's a little more healthy than vegetable oil and I'm tired of eating it baked.

The question is has anybody ever tried to marinate fish before they fried it? I have some teryiaki marinade that I use to make baked fish and I was wondering if I marinade the fish then fry it would that just be :puke: or would it make a unique taste?

Or would the frying just totally obliterate the taste of the marinade so why waste my time doing it?

Tips ladies please? Thank you. :D

you worry about the health factors of the oil i guess you havent checked the salt content of marinade you use. Teryiaki foods taste great but it is high in salt content. also with fried fish you will do better with flavoring your batter or cornmeal or whatever else you choose to bread the fish.

Nah it's healthy marinade. Low in calories and salt content. Says it on the bottle anyway!

IDK about marinating it first ... fish is so soft, marinating it is gonna break it down a lot.. idk if you'd be able to do the whole batter thing ...

I want one of those stove top grills... perfect for this stuff

I ain't no lady, but I'm great in the kitchen like Corning Cookware. You can marinade, but that shit has to be less than 30 minutes cause the acidic contents of the marinade will break down the fish after any longer than that. Unless you wanted to do a dry marinade. But yeah, wet is 30 or less, shit I'd play it safe and go 15.

And you'd prolly put the oil a few degrees higher than normal.

But yeah, there is a difference in taste.

You should be able to fry your fish, however I wouldn't try to deep fry it. As Cleopatra said the fish might fall apart, depending upon the type fish your having.

BTW another nice marinade you might try is sweet soy. Does wonders on shrimp.

Preciate it.

Dry seasoning? Any tips on that or do they just sale that in the store ready made?

Damn you Sean!

Never tried to fry fish that's been in a wet marinade before. Usually put the seasonings in the egg or the flour. If it's a wet marinade for me it usually goes in the oven or probably a pan seer depending on the fish...
