This feels like when Ben Affleck took over the Jack Ryan role from Harrison Ford...
Medea as Alex Cross; not really fealling it. was Denzel, Will, and Edris unavailable? Somebody get Morgan Freeman some "Just For Men". As a Patterson film I'll see it. Alex Cross transends race. This series should be a Blockbuster like Bourne; Not a Blackbuster like Shaft.
I sorry, TP just isn't convincing as the alpha male figure.
Just like Latifah and Common playing lovers, this shit won't fly.
Ice Cube, Larenz Tate, Derek Luke, numerous others could have been a better pick.

To be honest I was sort expecting Madea to pop up in the middle of the trailer, with a,, big ass, gun yelling '"calm down, everybody, big mama got this"...
Looks like a good movie, I came in ready to laugh at dude, but Tyler Perry did a good job.

Plus that movie looks so cliques, looking at the preview my mind was saying oh boy, not another one of those "lets get in the mind of the killer, because he knows everything we going to do, before we do it, type of movie.."

Yep... Primal Fear, Hannibal, Law Abiding Citizen, Insomnia all from the top of my head. Personally I'm tired of those kinds of movies even if they are good! i'm just tired and done with them. In the typical cop/bad guy roles, they hardly ever offer anything new and the outcome is usually predictable...Bad guy will get caught!
This one in particular may turn out to be good, But based on T.Ps range in his own movies when he's not suppose to be playing Medea you know the lawyer, doctor, consoling-wise friend I can't help but think and see, "Medea trying to playing those characters"
let me guess.. "Madea Goes to Mars"..?

During an interview with BlackFilm.com, actor/writer/producer/director Tyler Perry talked about his love of science-fiction and how he is currently writing a sci-fi film of his own.
"I love sci-fi, I love the Alien movies and the Alien franchise. I was very disappointed with Prometheus, but I love that whole franchise. Those are my favorite movies. I'm actually working on a sci-fi movie right now."
Perry did not reveal any information about the film he's writing.

Hell naw, Tyler Perry talked slow through that whole trailer. Dude has no action voice or speed in him.
This 'Alex Cross' Trailer looks like a... STRAIGHT TO DVD MASTERPIECE... with Tyler Perry in it.
C'mon son.
They should've cast ANY ONE of these other guys, in the leading role...

Aside from Idris.... this role is also 'tailor made' for him.
If Stringer Bell was too busy shooting other movies... then playing Alex Cross may have been Lance Reddick's 'big movie break'.
Lt. Cedric Daniels as 'Alex Cross' is MORE believable... (plus has stronger franchise possibilities)... than Madea.
And it makes a perfect segue to the BIG SCREEN using his momentum off HBO:The Wire, imo.

certainly a good choice but hollywood doesn't develop actors of color in the same manner they do white. Idris Elba and Anthony Mackie (two up and comers) aren't getting the same types of roles and positioning as say Chris Pines or Ryan Reynolds or Channing Tatum. you could make the case that will smith was groomed in a similar fashion and I would say yep he was...now whose coming up after him being groomed in the same way today?? Denzel, Wesley, Sam all these cats are getting old (Denzel is 60) wheres the next gen for them? It would be elba and mackey but they seem to keep getting supporting roles rather than starring and co starring like their white contemporaries.

If Alex Cross was a new TV show then haybert would probably be at the top of the list...for film..not so much.

I'm gonna assume for a second that you aren't that dumb. What does his business acumen have to do with his acting chops?
Bill Gates can buy and sell Perry a million times over and he would be a worse choice for this part.
There are tons of black actors that would have been a better choice than Medea.
