The police should had talk to the complainant and told them that their business is a public accommodation. They have to verbally certify or through some form that they had not discriminated against the person they wish to remove from their property. This is something they should taken more seriously.

When they could have been asserting their Civil Rights in refusing to leave public accommodation after being discriminated against. Where did he get this info from? I'm often in that area and I've never experienced or seen cops stop anybody. Maybe it happens late at night.
As far as the barricades go, they often block traffic for events. That area is called Rittenhouse Square where a lot of rich folks live and where a lot of nice restaurants are located. On saturdays they have a farmers market and sometimes bigger events where they'll close the streets, but I wouldn't describe it as barricades. Anyone can walk through. You just can't drive through that area during events.
She could have called the non emergency line but instead called 911 less than 2 minutes after they entered.
This should be an easy lawsuit. Even if they really were supposed to buy something, 120 seconds could easily be spent going over the menu or discussing the options with the person you came with.

Starbuck's management was probably going to do an investigation and get her side of the story but she probably realized there was no saving face with this and likely walked away.
