2 Kentucky moms say they were drugged, raped by Bahamas resort staffers; cruise never told them about travel warning until after assault

Two moms from Kentucky are speaking out after they were allegedly drugged and raped in the Bahamas Sunday after the US issued a travel warning for the vacation hotspot.

Longtime friends Amber Shearer and Dongayla Dobson said their first kid-free vacation ended with a traumatic, broad-daylight assault when they decided to go to the beach after the Carnival cruise ship they were on docked at the island country.

Now they’re warning other women.

The moms were relaxing on a Grand Bahama beach when a resort staffer offered them a two-for-one drink deal, they told NewsNation’s “Cuomo.”

They accepted and took photos with the tropical drinks — one in a pineapple and the other in a coconut.

But they soon felt like the drinks were much stronger than expected.

Even their loved ones back home grew concerned when the women sent back videos where they seemed to be highly intoxicated just 15 minutes after their first sips, Dobson told the station.

“Less than a few [sips] into the second drink, we knew something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong,” Shearer said.

They went to look for seashells to bring back to their kids when a male resort staffer offered to show them the best spot to find shells.

But the next thing Shearer could recall was waking up while she was being assaulted by a uniformed male resort staffer.

“I came to in the process of my rape,” she told NewsNation, breaking down.

Bahamian authorities and other staffers at the resort were able to immediately identify the two men accused of the noon assault through surveillance footage.

One of the attackers had only been employed by the resort for about a week, according to Shearer.

Royal Bahamas police arrested two men, a 40-year-old of South Bahamia and a 54-year-old of Eight Mile Rock, in connection to the sexual assault, the department said in a news release.

Police are continuing to investigate, but the women say their allegations weren’t properly handled and that the local cops did not administer proper rape test kits despite their pleas.

Back on the cruise ship, the moms received the results of their toxicology tests — which showed they had a plethora of drugs in their systems, including benzodiazepines.

They also had almost no alcohol in their bodies and had bruising up and down their legs, Kentucky NBC affiliate station Lex18 reported.

“To see the things that showed up on my [toxicology] screen was just traumatizing all over again,” Dobson said.

Now back in Kentucky, the women have hired a lawyer to get justice and are receiving medical care — including $4,000 in HIV prevention medication, according to the local station.

The mothers are also angry with Carnival — which they say failed to tell them about the US State Department travel advisory for the Bahamas until after their horrific assault.

The State Department issued a level 2 advisory on Jan. 26, just over a week before the two American women were allegedly raped.

The advisory advises US travelers to “exercise increased caution” when visiting the Bahamas due to crime and gang-on-gang violence that have resulted in 18 murders in January alone.

Five days before the moms were assaulted, Bahamian Prime Minister Philip Davis insisted that the country was a “safe” destination for tourists.

“The incidents described in the January 2024 US Embassy crime alert do not reflect general safety in The Bahamas, a country of sixteen (16) tourism destinations, and many more islands,” he said.

Carnival said it is cooperating with Bahamian police in their investigation.

“While ashore in Freeport, Bahamas on an independent shore excursion, two guests on Carnival Elation reported to Bahamian police that they were sexually assaulted at a local beach,” a spokesperson for the cruise line said in a statement to The Post.

“Our onboard Care Team provided support for the two guests as they sailed back to Jacksonville. Bahamian police are investigating the matter and Carnival is providing our full cooperation.”

  • Warren Adderley, 40, and Spencer Parker, 54, are pictured and identified by DailyMail.com for the first time since they were accused of raping Amber Shearer and Dongayla Dobson, both 31, on February 4
  • CCTV frames obtained by DailyMail.com also show Shearer walking off to a secluded area with Bahamian local Adderley, after meeting him at Pirates Cove Zipline & Waterpark on Grand Bahama
  • Best friends Shearer and Dobson, who were both traveling from Kentucky on a Carnival cruise ship, claim they were drugged and sexually assaulted by the two resort workers
Strolling arm in arm along the powder-white sand, they look like a typical couple enjoying a tropical getaway in the Bahamas.

But the two people seen in this exclusive DailyMail.com image are cruise ship passenger Amber Shearer, 31, and the resort worker she accuses of drugging and brutally raping her.

Shearer claims that by the time this CCTV frame was taken she was steadily falling under the spell of a potent mix of sedatives slipped into her rum punch cocktail.

DailyMail.com can identify the man she is walking with as Bahamian Warren Adderley, who once lived in Nashville according to his social media.

Shearer and her best friend Dongayla Dobson, 31, have accused Adderley and Spencer Parker, another worker at Pirates Cove Zipline & Waterpark, of sexually assaulting them.

The two friends had already posed for a selfie with smiling stranger Adderley after meeting him at the resort when their Carnival ship docked in Grand Bahama on February 4.

But as they followed Adderley offsite to a secluded patch of woodland – Shearer wearing a distinctive peach swimsuit and Dobson ambling along behind, just out of shot – events were to take a shocking turn.

The Kentucky moms say that in the 40 minutes they spent beyond the range of the resort's cameras Adderley was joined by Parker and both men proceeded to rape them as they drifted in and out of consciousness.

Parker, 54, told DailyMail.com on a WhatsApp call that he was eager to give his side but declined to speak further after consulting an attorney.

Adderley, 40, maintains his innocence, a family member told DailyMail.com, and insists that the two Americans were willing participants in a consensual encounter.

The two women who live in Danville, Kentucky, have recalled their alleged ordeal in multiple TV interviews, blasting local police for not taking them seriously, and accusing Carnival of failing to pass on dire US State Department warnings about soaring crime in the Bahamas.

But their accounts have not gone unchallenged with Carnival, Pirates Cove, and the Royal Bahamas Police Force all issuing statements disputing some aspects of their troubling story.

Parker, is the half-brother of Pirates Cove manager David Wallace, a well-known Bahamian businessman and former politician who said he couldn't comment on an active police investigation.

DailyMail.com can reveal that the two men arrested in the wake of the alleged rapes were fired from their jobs for fraternizing with guests but were released from police custody without charge, 'pending further inquiries'.

Within days of the alleged attacks, Pirates Cove released a statement stating that the resort had 'time-stamped surveillance video' that 'conflicts' with the two women's version of events.

DailyMail.com understands that management at the popular attraction, which boasts tropical-themed bars, a zip line, and water slides, hired an outside security firm to conduct interviews and comb through footage from 16 different cameras.

They quickly zeroed in on interactions between Shearer and Adderley, a vendor who was on site that morning to set up a 360-degree selfie booth.

Carnival sells a Pirates Cove Beach Getaway package to passengers for $57 but has released a statement insisting the pair were on an 'independent shore excursion'.

It's understood the gal pals had opted instead to pay the $16 cover fee but their lawyer, Nicholas Gerson, insists they read about the attraction in Carnival's promotional materials and traveled there on a bus with other passengers from their ship, the Ovation.

The timeline prepared by the resort's investigators says Adderley was seen interacting with Shearer and Dobson at 9:50am, according to a well-placed source.

The trio posed for a selfie which Adderley posted to his Snapchat account before he was seen on CCTV heading towards the western end of the resort at 10:08am, Shearer walking beside him.

She appeared to be linking arms with Adderley, who is seen wearing a lime green shirt, dark pants, and clutching what looks like a beer bottle in his right hand.

GB man accused of sex assault maintains innocence

TRIO.jpg

One of two men accused by Kentucky tourists Amber Shearer and Dongayla Dobson of sexual assault in February has broken his silence, maintaining his innocence.

Warren Adderley, 40, was one of the men arrested immediately after police received reports of the alleged incident and eventually released with no charges.

The American women, both 31-year-old mothers who were Carnival Cruise passengers, claimed the men drugged and sexually assaulted them at Pirates Cove Zipline & Waterpark.

Up to the weekend, the men had been silent, while their accusers have been very vocal giving numerous televised and print interviews in the United States, providing descriptions of the alleged incident and accusing Grand Bahama police of mishandling their “traumatic” experience.

But in a live Facebook post Friday, Adderley shared his version of what transpired.

Referring to the women by their first names, Adderley said the trio chatted and shared personal “tidbits” about themselves, from birthdays to occupations and marital status.

“So that’s how we got so friendly ... that’s how I got caught up with them,” said Adderley, who gave reported dates of the women’s birthdays.

He said, “When we talked, we found out that we’re Leos [August born].”

Adderley claimed, “We met in the restroom first, and then later [one of the women] told me I have to finish what I started.”

He said that is when they went down to a secluded area of the beach.

Adderley maintained, “I kept telling her I didn’t want to get in trouble.”

However, he said that he gave in and they became intimate.

“I never thought it would end up to this,” he said.

Both men were fired from Pirates Cove, with management saying in a statement there is a zero tolerance policy against staff fraternizing in any way with guests.

Prior to Adderley speaking publicly, a February 21 article in the UK Daily Mail gave an account of the incident and included selfies of the women taken with one of the park staff.

The article also featured still photographs of Pirates Cove security camera footage which was handed over to police for their investigation. The report did not mention how the footage was obtained by the newspaper.

Grand Bahama News reached out to Dobson and Shearer’s attorney, Nicholas Gerson for comment, but up to press time, the messages and calls went unanswered.

When contacted about the latest developments, a spokesperson from Pirates Cove said there would be “no comment” as the investigation is ongoing.

Police officials would only say the investigation is ongoing.

These hoes lying their flat asses off.
They were probably there popping pills and god knows what else, fucked and then had regret once it was done crying r@pe now.
I was just in the Bahamas about a year ago and there's nothing "unsafe" there.
And I've always liked the dailymail's reporting of events vs. the media here in the states.

Carnival cruise passengers 'drugged and raped' on dream Bahamas getaway

Amber Shearer and Dongayla Dobson, both 31, claim they were attacked by staff at the Bahamas resort they stayed at during their cruise.

Two women who allege they were drugged and raped on Grand Bahama Sunday have hit out at Carnival Cruises for failing to inform them of two US State Departments warnings against travel to the area.
Amber Shearer and Dongayla Dobson urged other travelers to exercise caution as they claimed the company never told them about the alert.
The Kentucky natives said they were attacked at their resort on the last day of their four-day cruise after the ship docked at Freeport.
Shearer said: "You need to be aware because our cruise line did not make us aware of a travel advisory.

"We had no idea what was going on in the Bahamas, none whatsoever."

She told NewsNation: "'I just want people to be safe. Dongayla and I, we've been together for two decades as best friends. We thought we could protect each other and be safe and it's not enough."
In January, the State Department issued two alerts for The Bahamas advising "extreme caution" to visitors after a series of sexual assaults and murders.
Nicholas Gerson, the attorney who represents both women, argued Carnival Cruises had the "legal duty" to inform them of the advisories.
Gerson said: "One of the issues with Carnival specifically in this case is they have a legal duty to warn about dangerous conditions they should have known about.
"There is a federal statue the Cruise Chip Vessel Safety and Security Act 2010 that requires victims of crime at high seas they are supposed to offer them contact with the FBI. None of that was offered.

The pair said they started feeling something was wrong when they started their second drink (Image: FACEBOOK)

"Carnival actually markets this particular excursion on their website, they actually profit from the excursion. So Carnival should have warned our clients, the warning shouldn't have come from the State Department."
In a statement to Daily Express US, a spokesperson for Carnival Cruises said: "While ashore in Freeport, Bahamas on an independent shore excursion, two guests on Carnival Elation reported to Bahamian police that they were sexually assaulted at a local beach.
"Our onboard Care Team provided support for the two guests as they sailed back to Jacksonville. Bahamian police are investigating the matter and Carnival is providing our full cooperation."
Shearer said they had enjoyed two drinks each during their stay in Freeport when they suddenly started to feel something was wrong.
She said: "We thought the drinks were really strong but Dongayla and I are gastric sleeve patients so we don't really drink much. Less than a few drinks into the second drink we knew something was terribly wrong."
Gibson added: "We have videos taken on our phones 15 minutes between when we first go for the drink and 15 minutes later and our family and friends are messaging us concerned about us, like are you sure you only had one drink? Are you sure, are you guys okay?"

The pair said things became worse when police arrived and they were denied rape kits (Image: EWNEWS)

The pair were then allegedly led away by a member of staff with the excuse of finding seashells to bring home to their kids.
Dobson said: "We were just conscious enough to know they were in uniforms and to know the area we went to and the resort security was able to pull up footage then and there and identify that there were three guys.
"One that took us to look at the shells and there were two that were over there already."

CCTV footage from the resort shows both women struggling to stand as toxicology reports later showed they were under the influence of a mix of cocaine, opiates and benzodiazepines.
They claimed Bahamian police refused to give them rape kits and "forced to show where our rapes took place".
DON'T MISS

Dobson added: "They told us that if we wanted any justice, any rape kits, we would have to go to the Bahamian hospital however the US Embassy had already refused to help us so we would be on our own and would have to pay our own way back. But we didn't have passports.
"I talked to the US Embassy today and they never contacted them at all."
Police have since arrested a 54-year-old man from Eight Mile Rock and a 40-year-old from South Bahama. Neither suspect has been named.

Either they regretted it or got caught some how and had to come up with a story.. Either way, sue both of them once this is over. they should also be charged with this false report.

I think they got caught up,

The family checked on them when they received the first drink and message them after they had a buzz….

They likely got questioned after not replying to texts or missed calls

the coke in their system could’ve been given to them by the guys. Who’s to say they didn’t requested to snort a line….

Now about the other drugs idk

I don't know what the culture is like in the Bahamas, but if this had happened in the U.S and it turns out in the end they are being falsely accused, the damage to their reputation would be irreversible. Even if your proven innocent, the stain, shadow or cloud of the accusation is forever with you. Your name, image and likeness is always gonna be attached to that.

Bruh, they lost their jobs and are infamously known as the dudes that r worded those white women......

I hope that after the resort came out saying they didn't believe the women, that these men were able to find other employment opportunities

Don't know whether the man is guilty or not of course but this whole drugging women to get pussy is crazy to me. If she doesn't want me in it while sober, I don't want it.
I feel you, crazy how some dudes get off on the whole passed out and taking it thing.....

There's consensual "non-consent" or "taking it," but drugging them and taking it without the consent first is the r word.

My thing is, the women stress how many drugs were found in their system. They recovered the beer bottles the women were drinking from....

It's 2024, what was found on or in those bottles?
Even trace amounts would've been found IF their drinks were tampered with........ otherwise they may have taken the drugs themselves.......

You’re correct but the dude was drinking the beer… as you can see if that frame of them walking to the hideaway

But my question is why dude was drink on the clock

Which is why they was released from their job.

Rape allegations seemed flawed but fucking customers while on the clock, was enough.

Also one guy was blood relatives with the manager. I’m sure he got his job back once everything cleared.

dudes must have been really thirsty

They might have a friendly contest of who could bag the most for the week….

The traffic might’ve been slow that week…
These two came visiting on this lovely morning…

So they had to get them numbers up…

Who knows these cats might’ve not been the go getter type, very reserved(we all know people like that)
When pussy get presented they had to accept it
