Dark Winds
Season 3
Official Trailer
Debuts March 9, 2025

Sometimes to stop a monster, you have to become one.

Dark Winds
Season 3
9 Episodes

8/10

I binged the new season yesterday at home that I recorded on my DVR.

The season picks up immediately after the events of season 2 with the primary story around a missing child case.

The 2nd story is with Bernadette starting with the U.S. Border Patrol and stumbling into a large case there.

The 3rd story is with Lt. Leaphorn dealing with the loss of his son in relation to the missing child case.

This series does a fabulous job with casting with new characters for this season. Story was presented perfectly and kept you looking at the screen, no episode this season felt like a “Filler”.

Zahn McClarnon (Lt. Leaphorn) is long overdue for a Emmy/Golden Globe win for this series. His acting skills was fully displayed in Episode 6.

The main plot lines going back to season one are all closed. Season 4 will start new plots.

At the end of Episode 9, they had a preview saying they are currently filming season 4 which is scheduled to debut in 2026.

Looking forward to it.

Murder of Karen Grammer

On July 1, 1975, Grammer's younger sister, 18-year-old Karen Grammer, was raped and murdered by a spree killer, Freddie Glenn, and two other men. Grammer identified his sister's body and informed their mother shortly after. According to Grammer, his bouts of alcoholism and drug abuse were driven, in part, by guilt and depression over his sister's death, as the pair had been close in childhood.[57]

In a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Grammer said he would be willing to forgive the perpetrators if they would take responsibility for the crime, though they all claimed innocence. In the same interview, Grammer expressed his loss of faith for several years after Karen's death.[58] He subsequently forgave Glenn in a 2014 parole hearing after being convinced of Glenn's contrition, but refused to support his release, saying that it would "be a betrayal of my sister's life".[57] He named his daughter Spencer Karen Grammer in part for his sister.[37]

Karen Grammer's murder and the investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department was the subject of the episode "Animal Nature" of the Investigation Discovery series Homicide Hunter.[59]

The move to cancel “The Equalizer” is not altogether surprising, as the show was also on the bubble last season. It is co-produced by CBS Studios and outside studio Universal Television, making it a less attractive option for CBS financially, particularly this late in its run.

Pops sent me an email the other day and said it just didn't compare to the original series, and Denzel's movies, which he both enjoyed.

He caught a good portion of season 1 of the reboot series.

Recent viewing ...

Finished season 3 of Dark Winds, season 2 of 1923, and season 3 of Gangs of London.

Dark Winds has been consistently good over the years. 1923 was ok - though I'd have enjoyed it more if it wasn't such a slow burn (as to be expected). Gangs of London ... not as strong as prior seasons, but still a wild ride at times.

Currently enjoying Godfather of Harlem and Hacks - season 4 for both respectively. They wrap up in late-June and late-May respectively.

I trust Papa H

Now that its over I will try to catch a few episodes

I caught a little bit of season 1 of the reboot. It was alright. If I remember correctly, it had the really good lead-in for the pilot immediately following the Super Bowl.

And all said ... 5 seasons of a major network show is impressive.

We all know how inconsistent CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox are. Sometimes they never give a series enough time to find a rhythm. Other times they keep shows running for far too long just because they generate big ratings / ad dollars.
