I understand magazine paywalls. It just feels like the newspaper format's dead too now, and they're paywalling and not even giving sample articles on their site. Just a paragraph preview before they hit ya with the SIGN UP NOW / ENJOY OUR MANY ARTICLES pop-up shits, lol.

People don't get their daily newspapers anymore, but how many are actually signing up to read shit online? People are just scrolling news sites on their bookmarks or apps, it seems.

More paywalls and higher subscription rates definitely doesn't feel like the answer ... as we've seen with the STREAMERS and their bullshit in recent years.

It's crazy- I'll visit a site for the first time and they want me to pay when I've never read anything from them before!

Exactly.


You'd think they'd want to curry favor with visitors and offer say 5 - 10 articles just to see what they're all about.


Getting met with an instant paywall is an immediate turnoff. Similar to sites that are advertising or pop-up hell, even when you've got ad-blockers or similar programs in place. Their sites look and load like a mess & you end up closing their pages shortly thereafter.
 
Think I'm going to cut The Winter King off after giving it 3 eps, I never did this enough and end up with too many shows, I gotta lighten up my weekly shows start on my backlog starting with One Piece
