TV News: Why Aint No One Tell me Thundercats new season STARTED?!?!

Another strong episode based on how Wily Kit and Kat became orphans.

Strong? i don't know about all that. Willy kit and kat need to gtfoh with that self righteous bullshit, I wonder where they think they have been getting meat from all this time

The show drags. The writing is not compelling at all. The first pilot episode was full of fire and kept me enthralled. After that, the show just seemed to stammer. Young Justice has been great. Fast paced yet still full of story. The voice on Thundercats sucks as well. I'm giving it till the end of this season to pick up the pace or I'm done.

DAMN!!!...

as a fan of the original I guess some are invested on how they incorporate the original story lines into the new mythology...

I actually like the change of pace from the usual...

it is FAR from perfect and I would argue that the GI JOE reboot was slightly better...

but to compare to Young Justice is unfair...

these are decades old established characters and the blueprint that Dini and McDuffie has created is practically foolproof...

They're kids. There's a difference between stealing bread and begging than actually having to kill your own food. Just like none of us thought about the cows and fish slaughtered to feed us (and we still don't), they don't either.
As I said, strong episode since that's exactly how real people and children behave.

I do think the GI Joe reboot was slightly better but not by much and the last couple eps have been making up the difference.

One thing I've learned to do is not compare it to the original which I watched as a little kid. It's never going to stand up to something that was "must see" tv for a 12 yr old child. Nostalgia can cloud the memory.

How bout you just say fuck it right now this instant AND GET TO CRACKING ON THAT NEW DOG YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Waiting patiently Dray!!!!!

Having watched "Young Justice" yesterday and "The Avengers" today, I can't make a pick for which is better but I prefer "The Avengers". "Young Justice" is great and the "Mole" storyline payoff was great (hate the idea of Red Arrow being a clone, though). But they're doing something different witht "The Avengers". This is more like the Jim Shooter-70s style Avengers with big villains and big concepts. This season it looks like they're doing a mash up of the Kree-Skrull War and the Secret Invasion with Surtur and the Twilight as a subplot to be developed later.

I don't know about all that, its always funny how the cats always beat the henchmen except for when the henchmen want to steal or kidnap someone. Avengers is much better
Funny how you are WRONG...ol hating ass mofo. Korra and that pro firebender both got their asses kicked on Episode 3 by two ninjas who used pressure points to disable body parts and bending ability. Guess what? They are just HENCHMEN. OH NOOOOOOOO!:hmm:

disagree.

The worked hard to take a cartoon/toy commercial into a cohesive story with complete histories and rivalries while still honoring the original.

While not ALWAYS successful...

there have added death, war, racism, slavery, faith vs. science, etc.

I like that the cats are not univerally revered...

the Tygra vs. Lion-o thing is getting overplayed but it has added a dynamic that was completely nonexistent in the original and REALLY fits well...

especially with the jealously and Cheetara...

the revised Mum Ra actually makes more sense now...

and Lion-o learning skills and making mistakes every episode is much more organic...
Dude I can't someone else is finally on the same thought process as me...on BGOL. This is exactly what I thought and told a friend who asked if catching up on the show was a waste of time. I think we older fans are so caught up in nostalgia that we fail to see how underdeveloped or downright silly some of the old cartoons we watched were. Thundercats' writing is far superior to the old series. You have to look deeper than the action and see the meaning of the show's episodes. And yeah, it makes more sense now. I just wish they had stuck with the original premise of leaving Thundara, the planet, and landing on Third Earth. As it is, every race on this show's Third Earth are animals. That means no classic revival of human characters like Hachiman the samurai.

Oh, and I know I said this before but I like the storylines in The Avengers better than Young Justice. Seems to be more epic in scope. Though I like the characters and animation better in Young Justice.

And one more thing. I think that that new He-Man series, had it not been cancelled for that stupid reason they gave, would've been a new classic.

AGREED.

We have such a high standard know...

I remember as I kid I never fully UNDERSTOOD or appreciated Robotech or Battle of the Planets...

but after they completing f'ed up the Transformers animated reboot,

I appreciate these new series more.

They are smart and they are at least TRYING to be more then JUST toy commercials...

another thing is many have a start and end date ALREADY so the writers are able to create a more complete story arc...

funny thing is Hollywood being completely devoid of creativity and new ideas is actually hurting some of these rebooted series because they a\cannot conflict with a developing film property and get cancelled.

ie: GI Joe Reneges...:smh:

the positive is with so many cable channels we actually see ONE network that shows these new versions and the classics back to back to back...

Imagine all of Robotech in order on one network followed by some of the best anime and US animation...

I agree with all this ^^^^^.

I'm glad somebody else liked the "Masters of the Universe" reboot. I remember it being very similar to the new "Thundercats" in that it's more mature and more cohesive with more fleshed out back stories. I was surprised it didn't make it.

Man, "Robotech" was the shit. Even as a young kid I knew "Battle of the Planets" and "Starblazers" were on different levels than most of the cartoons I watched on Saturday morning and after school during the week.
I can still remember being  when the alien invaders in "Robotech" turned out to be giants. Shit blew my mind.

I'm saying the new generation watching the new thundercats for the first time...

this is their THEIR Robotech...

we are coming in as adults so we are jaded and comparing it to our youth...

shit, some network DRAMAS are not as well written or thought out as Thundercats and Avengers...

just for the ANIMATION alone I give Young Justice major props...

and ICON:D

we need to appreciate the current product because there is a LARGE crop of BAD cartoons out there...

The storyline is all over the place. And after getting into Young Justice and Avengers, this show seems like some bullshit now.

Too much filler. The show started with crazy potential but the filler bullshit makes it hard to watch.

Now Young Justice is fucking incredible. Even when they have an "off" episode it at least ties into the overarching theme.

I bought the box set.

Cartoons are basically commercials for toys. They will move a show like this to a fucked up timeslot and not tell anyone then cancel the show because ratings are down.

They might as well rename Nickelodeon the SpongeBob Network because it gets precedence over EVERYTHING.

I didnt know they remade He-Man

WeeBey.gif

Last two episodes have been some bullshit. :hmm:

problem is they have to do the stand alone episode...

McDuffie REALLY help start the strong continuing arc thing...

but you have to always have a jumping on point for new viewers...

^this

however with the raise of anime they have been many legitimate attempts for quality.

The now cancelled GI Joe cartoon (which it seems they completely ripped off for the movie)

was great and actually could have revitalized the brand..

And I think that is what people in charge are missing out of here..

a quality product of a re-introduction brings OLD and NEW fans..

so you getting money from all over and THEN movie, comics, merchandise follows...

MONEY!!!

But they get confused and rush to make a movie and kill the goose after only ONE golden egg...

The Green Lantern JUST ended and it grew on me...

it was one story across like 12-16 episodes...

and was good for old and new GL fans.

not great but better then I initially thought.

"You are my king but he is my master."

That twist was better then some Emmy award winning hour long dramas on the real.

edit*

The writer of that episode need to win an Emmy and a call from HBO.

That shit was Justified-level writing and direction.

I swear I WILL never forget that line...

I have seen SO MANY people[post that shit all over the net...

My wife said that shit to me on father's day...:hmm:

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

GL grew on me too. Still didn't "love" it but it was good enough, same way I see "Ultimate Spiderman" now after HATING it at first.

Some moments take a show, animated or not, to another level and the Pumira betrayal was it for this show.

Agreed...
:D

for animation???

That shit got me like when they killed Stringer, killed Big Pussy, the end of the first episode of the Shield, when they beat Veronica Mars on deadwood, etc.

It was just so ...

UNWARRANTED
...

that was WAY too emotionally complex for children to comprehend, my wife watches like MAYBE every other episode and she never curses and said AW SHIT...Bitch!!!

that IDIOT that got Avengers cancelled will never understand...

the writers were being true to THEMSELVES and the AUDIENCE..

If they are willing to go there I will SUPPORT them completely just off GP, si know if they release a direct DVD movie I' will BUT that shit...

If they are involved in the movie I will most definitely see it...

I feel like re watching episodes to see if there were hints...shit I haven't done that since LOST!!!

Imagine an ALL ANIME network with Thundercats old and new, Silver Hawks, Robotech, Battle of the Planets, Avengers EMH, Spawn animated, Aeon Flux,X-Men, GI Joe (old/new), Spiderman and Young Justice, Justice League, Batman Adventures, Star Wars Clone Wars???

Shit I'd pay HBO money for that...

I was working out and literally sat straight on the floor and just froze like . I had no problem with them going in the Lion-O/Pumira relationship direction so this was a wild left ala Tarver-Roy Jones II and I was out like Jones.

Man, you have to have like 6 different cable networks to get half of those shows now. Throw in som real old late 70s/early 80s stuff like Space Ghost and Teen Force.

That is why in the long run these huge corporate entities will fail:smh:

Its bad business...

why is Sony holding on to Marvel properties instead of getting a partnership and getting in on the action before this superhero revolution gets played out?

You see Hulu was a good idea but now EVERY network want their on OWN online viewing...

same for the Hollywood studios...

They so afraid of the Apple/Itunes model they aint thinking straight...

1 or 2 cable networks like that would be cash cows fam...

Imagine HBO Animation or Starz Animation???

Most of these properties are collecting dust and will probably revert back to someone else in a couple of years...

I swear got like 6 members on BGOL with the vision - who could create that shit in a year...
