TV News: NBC Peacock Streamer Will Offer "Something for Everyone" UPDATE: No longer free! NFL GAMES!

So, The office finally made it on Peacock. But here's the catcher, you have to pay to watch seasons 3-9. While the first two seasons are free. I have run into a few offices fans. That is not feeling that.

I can understand that NBC want and need to profit from their property. But alot of people feel paying for multiple streaming services is bullshit. And some people were saying they're better off buying the DVDs.

For me I'll probably pay for the service. Only when I go on vacation. I can go without watching the office for a while.

If you have not yet subscribed to Peacock, NBC’s streaming service, some exciting new offerings (and some snakes) may just sway your little mouse-clicker thing. At TCA, the network today announced it’s picking up an untitled Craig Robinson project that bills itself as “a comedy about class, capitalism and one man’s quest to achieve the American dream. And also about hunting really big snakes.” Capitalism AND snakes? It borders on redundant. But I digress.

Another addition will be Bust Down, a comedy about casino employees executive-produced by Lorne Michaels and starring SNL’s Chris Redd, Sam Jay, Langston Kerman, and Jak Knight. It feels like this one should also have some snakes, but the number of snakes Peacock Originals use is sadly not up to me.

The streamer also announced it is currently developing The Real Housewives of Miami and an unscripted series from Andy Cohen called Ex Rated. It will also be premiering a six-part documentary series, John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Desguise, in March and a three-part special, Michael Phelps: Medals, Memories & More, ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, whenever that may be.

Peacock says 'as if' to Clueless reboot as the network passes on TV series

The streaming service's planned "baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted" revival of the Alicia Silverstone movie classic is not moving forward, but may be redeveloped.

It's an "as if" for the Clueless reboot over at Peacock.

EW has confirmed the streaming service is totally buggin' on the planned mystery-themed revival of the classic 1995 movie, and will not movie forward with developing the project into a TV series with CBS Television Studios.

Initially billed as "a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latté, and Adderall-fueled look" at the lives of several California teens as they navigate the rise of a new leader, Dionne (played by Stacey Dash in the Amy Heckerling-directed film), in the wake of the disappearance of their high school's former queen bee, Cher (a role originated by Alicia Silverstone).

CBS Studios is reportedly looking at new ways to approach the material in the future, though nothing has been confirmed at this point.
Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey (Will & Grace, Man With a Plan) penned the script for the most recent revival, and produced alongside Jane the Virgin's Corinne Brinkerhoff. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the news Friday, that Peacock overseers Frances Berwick and Susan Rovner nixed the project after reviewing a slew of in-development projects.

Following the original film's overwhelming success as an enduring pop culture phenomenon (often regarded as one of the best teen movies of all time), CBS Studios attempted a prior TV series based on the project in 1996, with Rachel Blanchard stepping in for Silverstone and Dash reprising her role as Dionne from the movie. That series ran for one season on ABC before jumping to UPN for seasons 2 and 3, and was canceled in 1999.

Upon its release, Clueless — based on Jane Austen's beloved Emma with its tale of an affluent teen navigating life and love in Los Angeles — grossed nearly $57 million at the box office and became a steadfast favorite among younger audiences, further boosting the careers of Silverstone and particularly costars Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd, and Donald Faison.

Dash would go on to secure several acting roles before becoming a polarizing political figure for her outspoken support of conservatism and former president Donald Trump.

"There are things that I am sorry for, things that I did say, that I should not have said them the way I said them," Dash said in a Daily Mail interview in March. "They were very arrogant and prideful and angry. And that's who Stacey was, but that's not who Stacey is now. Stacey's someone who has compassion and empathy."

Still not on the firestick and still not drawing me away from PlutoTV when it comes to AVOD.

Amazon Fire TV Users Will Soon Have Access to Peacock, May the Girls5eva Binges Begin
By Brennan Carley

NBCUniversal and Amazon have at long last achieved some manner of major corporation détente, meaning all the Fire TV users out there will at long last have access to Rutherford Falls (also the rest of the Peacock catalogue, which will be available once the service’s app launches on Fire TV–powered devices in the U.S. beginning tomorrow, June 24). NBCU and Amazon had been squabbling over various issues, including revenue sharing, for months, much the way NBCU bickered with Roku until last fall. Earlier this year, Peacock’s social media accounts were even suggesting that Fire TV users sideload the app in order to view content like WrestleMania.

Those days of amateur hacking are now behind us. Fire TV users will have access to Peacock’s library of streaming content, which includes Law & Order: SVU and Cheers as well as originals like Girls5Eva and and Lady Parts (and, with specific subscriptions, premium content such as next month’s The Boss Baby: Family Business). The timing makes sense with NBC gearing up to air the Tokyo Olympics, which are set to begin late next month. Earlier today, late-night host Amber Ruffin announced plans to cover the Olympics on the ground exclusively for Peacock.

The deal also includes a new distribution agreement that will grant access to NBCU network apps, including NBC, Bravo, NBC News, NBC Sports and Telemundo. Fire TV users familiarizing themselves with Peacock will find a free ad-supported tier, an ad-supported premium tier ($4.99 a month), and an ad-free premium tier ($9.99 a month) — the latter two of which include access to Peacock Originals like Saved By the Bell and Brave New World.
Amazon teased the announcement yesterday in a tweet that included a still from The Office, a show available on Peacock that’s popular with the kids.

So they were going to turn it into Riverdale:rolleyes:

I want to watch MU or just the Premier League in general but my TV can't find or connect to this bullshit, jackleg "network."

It’s OK it’s not bad I did look at the movie “children of men” a couple weeks ago by the way if you haven’t seen that movie go see it is very very interesting

I got this service late due to it coming to the Firestick late, but I hate the fact that they tried to market this like it was similar to Pluto

They all want to control their content.

It's like Disney taking all their shit off of Netflix.

CW is planning on taking their content off of Netflix when their current contracts expire. They already started with "Batwoman" with it only being on the CW streaming app.

It's gonna blow back on them eventually. Mofos are not gonna go out and pay for twenty to thirty separate apps to watch one program on each one of them.

There will be mergers in the near future....and it will be just like cable TV all over again.

hey dont worry.. there is

and WILL BE

a

(free)
APP for that....

Did You Wait to Watch Poker Face? It Might Cost You

If you’ve been holding off on signing up for Peacock to watch Rian Johnson’s Poker Face starring Natasha Lyonne, well, you’ll have to pull out your wallet if you want to get caught up in the mystery. Peacock has announced that new users to the platform must pay for the ad-supported ($4.99 a month) or the ad-free plan ($9.99 a month.)

Previously, it was free to sign up for the ad-supported plan; legacy free users will continue to have access to the service.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the changes to the platform reflect the company’s shift to its premium services and its upcoming content, including Poker Face, The Traitors, and Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. This update comes as other competitors like Paramount+, Showtime, and HBO Max are revamping their own subscription services. Will this paid subscription mean safety for its original programs? Or will they get cut just like the others? Only Charlie can call Peacock’s bluff.

Peacock Wants More Money From You

The price of your Real Housewives and Poker Face addiction is going up. Peacock is joining the streaming industry’s price hike party, raising the cost of its basic plan by $1 per month and its ad-free tier by $2.

Starting Aug. 17, existing customers without annual plans or other discounts will see their monthly rate rise to either $5.99 for basic Peacock (which goes by the Orwellian moniker Peacock Premium) or $11.99 for Peacock Premium Plus (no pesky commercials, save for live events and a handful of titles). For new customers, the price hike is effective pretty much immediately.

The increase represents the first change in pricing for the NBCUniversal-owned service since it launched nationally three years ago this month (unless you count its decision in January to get rid of its totally free tier for new customers, or its move to cut off Xfinity and Cox cable customers from free access to the $5 tier).

Peacock — which has added exclusive next-day access to NBC and Bravo shows in recent months, as well as live feeds of Hallmark’s three cable channels — is also the last major streamer to make a change to its launch pricing, and the move puts its monthly fee on, er, par with Paramount+ (also $5.99/$11.99), but keeps the streamer at least a buck cheaper than Apple TV+, Prime Video, and the ad-supported versions of Disney+, Hulu, Max and Netflix.

Given that all the streamers have raised their rates within the past 18 months, you might be thinking, “Well, at least we’re safe from more increases for a while.”

Think again: Some Netflix watchers think the streamer could be prepping another bump soon.

Good thing there’s not a strike or anything going on that might threaten the supply of new content to platforms over the next six to twelve months!
