They're back, but in a new way: William Petersen and Jorja Fox will reprise their classic CSI roles in the new show CSI: Vegas.
The project is described by CBS as a sequel to the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Petersen and Fox will once again play investigators Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, and the series will also feature Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez, and Mandeep Dhillon.

Original CSI star Wallace Langham will also return to play David Hodges.

Here's the official longline for the new version: "CSI: Vegas opens a brand-new chapter in Las Vegas, the city where it all began. Facing an existential threat that could bring down the Crime Lab, a brilliant new team of forensic investigators must welcome back old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve justice in Sin City."

The last time we saw Gil and Sara, the married couple were driving their boat into the sunset. Clearly, retirement didn't suit them.

"Twenty-one years ago, we launched CSI and watched in awe as this new cinematic series launched an entire genre and became a groundbreaking juggernaut that still has global resonance today," said CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said in a statement. "We are thrilled to welcome the next generation of forensic criminalists to the CSI brand and unite them with the legendary characters from the past who we still love, including the extraordinary Billy Petersen and Jorja Fox. Crimefighting technology has advanced dramatically over the last several years, and combined with classic CSI storytelling, we can't wait to watch this new CSI team do what they do best: follow the evidence."

Early last year, it was revealed that CBS was looking to revive its most original franchise to help mark the 20th anniversary of the show. Writer Jason Tracey (Elementary) came on board, as did Jerry Bruckheimer TV.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation premiered Oct. 6, 2000, and ran for 15 seasons, launching several spin-offs before wrapping with a two-hour movie finale in September 2015. The series — which starred Peterson, Fox, Marg Helgenberger, George Eads, and more — followed crime-scene investigators for the Las Vegas Police Department as they worked to crack cases.

It was the most watched drama series in the world for seven years.

they bringing EVERYTHING back

What if they did CSI as an anthology format so they could bring back Miami,NY and New Orleans..

Caruso be opening the first Miami edition like "Just when i thought i was out..*puts shades on* ..they pull me back in."

:roflmao2:

I wonder how many scripts and pilots were passed over just for CBS to revive some shit from 20 years ago. The new season doesn't add anything new to the mix. It's the same procedural, murder of the week as before only they have a single overarching case that the OG CSIs are working. They only managed to bring back 4 of the original cast, which doesn't do much even for nostalgia's sake.

Just a waste of screentime and production costs.

They need to bring the TV show Vegas where the guy would park his car in his living room. I bet he had a dirty arse house.

Jorja Fox won't return to CSI: Vegas on CBS

The veteran of the CSI franchise announced on Twitter that is not reprising her Sara Sidle role.

So long, Sara Sidle. Jorja Fox on Tuesday announced via Twitter that she will not reprise her beloved role for the second season of CSI: Vegas.
"After much deliberating, I have decided not to 'Sidle up' for CSI Vegas," she wrote. "For me, CSI has always been a love story. The story that people can find love in the darkest of places and times. And the story that love, even in the darkest of places and times, can expand and grow roots and endure. I personally just can't split Sara and Grissom up again. So goes Grissom…..So goes Sara. Wherever they go, they belong together."

CBS has already ordered a second season of the reboot, which reunited Fox with William Petersen, her longtime co-star on the original CSI franchise. The show introduced a brand new CSI team played by Paula Newsom, Matt Lauria, Mandeep Dhillon, and Mel Rodriguez.

Petersen is not expected to appear in season 2, though he remains an executive producer.
Fox gave her fans a genuine goodbye kiss in the season 1 finale in December. In the episode's final minutes, Gil and Sara locked lips on screen for their first time as a married couple. It was a huge (but welcome!) departure for the Grissoms — the duo simply hasn't shown a lot of affection on the crime procedural since they first coupled during CSI's initial run from 2000-15.
"It's the most intimate you have ever seen them," executive producer/showrunner Jason Tracey told EW at the time. "Hopefully, it will feel like a payoff for those who have been so invested in the Gil and Sara relationship. It's been really interesting to have the two of them married on screen for the first time for an extended stretch. It's a huge responsibility to take the relationship and put it all on screen. But you don't want to go from 0 to 60. You have to have a slow build."

CSI: Vegas' resident medical examiner is hanging up his gloves.
Mel Rodriguez, who portrayed chief medical examiner Hugo Ramirez in the debut season of the sequel series, will exit the CBS drama as a series regular ahead of the forthcoming second season.
Rodriguez's departure comes a few days after his costars (and franchise veterans) Jorja Fox and William Petersen announced their exits earlier this week.

"After much deliberating, I have decided not to 'Sidle up' for CSI Vegas," Fox shared on social media. "For me CSI has always been a love story. The story that people can find love in the darkest of places and times."

Fox and Petersen reprised their beloved CSI: Crime Scene Investigation characters Sara Sidle and Gil Grissom, respectively, in the first season of CSI: Vegas, a new iteration set in Sin City. Following its finale last December, CBS renewed the procedural drama for a second season.
TVLine first reported the news of Rodriguez's departure.
