Chris Rock Isn’t Stepping Down As Oscars Host, But He Is Rewriting His Monologue With Better Oscars Jokes
Amid the controversy over the lack of diversity at the Oscars, many have wondered whether Chris Rock, an outspoken critic of entrenched racism in Hollywood, would step down as the host of the show — well, he won't. But he will be rewriting his jokes to better tackle that very issue. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Academy Awards producer Reginald Hudlin revealed that, after finishing his monologue a week ago (before news of boycotts started to break), Rock decided to go back and rewrite the script: "As things got a little provocative and exciting, [Rock] said, ‘I’m throwing out the show I wrote and writing a new show.’” Hudlin, one of the people of color involved in the ceremony to whom Spike Lee threw his support in his letter to the AMPAs, also promised that the Academy itself likes Rock's new angle. "You should expect [#OscarsSoWhite jokes]," Hudlin said. "And, yes, the Academy is ready for him to do that. They're excited about him doing that. They know that's what we need. They know that's what the public wants, and we deliver what the people want."

Pressure??? He's playing with house money! The academy gave him such a blank check over the nominations bullshit that as long as he doesn't come out in vintage SS Nazi attire and beat up a gay elderly Jewish man they ain't going to be able to say shit.

No pressure for Rock. Go dig into his catalog of stand up work. He has been saying things that address the subject matter since he first hit the stage.
White folks undeniable love of Rock stems from one thing, the Black folks & niggaz bit years ago. And that hour IS one of the best hours of stand up ever.
Im going to Elton John Viewing party again this year. And I will be pulling for Rock to nail this one like never before, I want to see some shocked upset faces. And I cant wait for the champagne inspired query approaching me afterwards, I'm looking forward to it.
Rock is going to be on stage locally too, the Improv, the store,etc. I want to catch him working this out in club.
