ALBANY — The New York co-chair for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign said his wishes for 2017 are to see President Obama die from mad cow disease and for Michelle Obama to be “let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe.”

Carl Paladino said he wants the outgoing president to be buried next to close advisor Valerie Jarrett, who he wants to see convicted of treason and decapitated in prison by a “jihady (sic) cell mate who mistook (her) for being a nice person.”

As for the First Lady, Paladino — a former gubernatorial candidate — said “I’d like her to return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla.”

Gov. Cuomo blasted his former opponent’s comments as “racist, ugly and reprehensible.”

Paladino “has embarrassed the good people of the state with his latest hate-filled rage,” Cuomo said in a statement.

Paladino offered the comments to ArtsVoice, a weekly publication in Buffalo that asked prominent figures from the region what they want for 2017.

Hours after his comments appeared, an unapologetic Paladino denied they were racist in nature.

“It has nothing to do with race,” he said in a statement sent to reporters. “That’s the typical stance of the press when they can’t otherwise defend the acts of the person being attacked.”

Instead, he said, his comments were meant to be about “2 progressive elitist ingrates who have hated their country so badly and destroyed its fabric in so many respects in 8 years.”

“And yes, it’s about a little deprecating humor which America lost for a long time,” he said. “Merry Christmas and tough luck if you don’t like my answer.”

He blasted President Obama’s record as commander-in-chief an accused him of doing nothing for eight years for “black children in our urban centers.”

And he said “Michelle hated America before her husband won,” he said, accusing her of then enjoying the perks of being the president’s wife.

“Then when Hillary lost, she and Barack realized that without Hillary, there was no one to protect the little, if any, legacy he had,” Paladino said. “That's when Michelle came out and said there is no hope for America. Good, let her leave and go someplace she will be happy."

It’s not the first time Paladino, who lost a race for governor in 2010 to Cuomo, has raised eyebrows with vulgar and what many consider racist comments.

“Paladino has a long history of racist and incendiary comments,” Cuomo said. “While most New Yorkers know Mr. Paladino is not to be taken seriously, as his erratic behavior defies any rational analysis and he has no credibility, his words are still jarring.”

Paladino is currently a Buffalo school board member and has not ruled out another run for governor in 2018. The co-chair of Trump’s New York campaign, he recently met with the President-elect at Trump Tower.

State Department of Education spokeswoman Jeanne Beattie had no comment on Paladino’s comments. The state education commissioner has the power to remove a school board member if it comes before the department in the form of an appeal from the local community.

“Because the (education) commissioner may be called upon to render a decision under New York State Education law, we cannot comment on this,” she said.

Todd LeBaron If he wants to return to being a MALE, there's a difference between being a MALE and being a real MAN. I said this about Trump, and it's even more appropriate for him: Archie Bunker, Fred Flintstone and Ralph Kramden were TV characters, not role models. This fellow needs to meet Lorena Bobbitt.

The real question is why are so many people intimidated by Michelle Obama. I thinking he's projecting his unconsciously strong desire to travel to Zimbabwe and hang out with some handsome gorillas.

This is why it is time for them to go. The level of disrespect and downright ugliness is intolerable. Where are the PE's folks out with a statement against this level of disrespect? Oh yeah...it's not their fault. Paladino's comments speak to deep-seated ugliness that is simply intolerable or at least should be. So he believes the actions of the incoming FLOTUS are admirable? He believes the PE is fine speaking about women the way he does? This is the face of racism. His coded language is disturbing.

Love to see Michelle Obama in the outback with Paladino to show him how a confident, intelligent and very physically fit person handles the trash. To think that this waste of DNA has ANY influence over schools let alone the future orange ball of hate as president is very disturbing to say the least.

Lots of people support this. They may not say it but they do. We all know or have more than a few people in our lives that share this thinking and believe it's ok. Nothing new here.

One of President-elect Donald Trump’s closest allies and confidants, Carl Paladino, has been marred in a racist scandal. Paladino is, for now, a member of the Buffalo, New York School Board. In all of his brilliance, wrote numerous despicable comments about President Obama, Michelle, and his family. Then, those remarks were accidentally sent to a newspaper by Paladino. Now the fallout from Paladino’s foray into being a public racist has come to a head with some very real professional consequences along with a sharp rebuke from his boss (video below)

School Board President Barbara Seals Nevergold who has nothing but contempt for him.

She began:

Words matter, Mr. Paladino. Our president, the Commander in Chief of this nation for the last eight years, Mrs. Obama, our First Lady, and Mrs. Valerie Jarrett, special presidential council are all African-Americans. Among other things, they are accomplished, intelligent, beautiful people and that’s not just my opinion.

Nevergold went on to describe her concerns about the quality of education students would receive with individuals like Paladino charged with administering that education:

The impact on children of color, especially African-American children is incalculable. How do we encourage them to use their God-given talents to soar, to reach for the stars, when a sitting board member responsible for their education demonstrates such contempt of their role models?

In closing her remarks Nevergold issued a slight dig against Paladino’s buddy Donald Trump when she said, “They would like me to tell you, ‘You’re fired!'”

Watch Nevergold crush Paladino below:

Paladino’s fellow board members voted 6 to 2 on Dec. 29 to call for Paladino’s immediate resignation. Watch the vote below:

In a statement Paladino indicated he has no intention to resign, “not when it’s time to help implement the real choice elements of Trump’s plan for education reform.” The board members were prepared for Paladino’s belligerence and if he refuses to resign they will “retain outside counsel” and move to have Paladino formally removed by the New York State Education Commissioner MaryElle Elia. For their part the NY Education Department is aware of the situation and if called upon will review the evidence against Paladino “as quickly as possible.”

All of this trouble for Paladino could have been avoided if he knew how to properly send an email. Apparently Paladino was sent a survey from ArtVoice, to which Paladino claims he filled out sarcastically. He also claims he meant to send his sarcastic replies to friends, and rather than forwarding the email, he sent it back to the original source and his words were published in their entirety. Read them in their hideous glory below:

Paladino.jpg

In an effort to save face Paladino issued a mild mea culpa:

I did not mean to send those answers to Artvoice. Not that it makes any difference because what I wrote was inappropriate under any circumstance. I filled out the survey to send to a couple friends and forwarded it to them not realizing that I didn’t hit ‘forward’ I hit ‘reply.’ All men make mistakes.

This was not Paladino’s first public embarrassment either. He once was caught sending an email that had the phrase, “run nig*er run!” Naturally, Paladino said the public was unfairly painting him as a racist. Was Paladino being sarcastic with his racism? Does he actually love black people? One can wager either way they like, but the majority of the money is likely going to go in one direction.

KING: America’s schools must have zero tolerance for racist teachers and board members

It makes me genuinely sad to say what I’m about to say. As a nation, we should’ve evolved far past this a long time ago. School boards across the country, be they on a state or local level, must enact zero-tolerance policies for racist teachers, administrators, and school board members.

Let me be abundantly clear — if you are in a position of authority over children, if you are making decisions about the future of their education, and it is determined that you are a racist, or have committed a racist act, your employment should be immediately terminated.

School boards and governing bodies must have full, swift, unrestricted access to to terminate the employment of bigots. They do not belong in a school system. Bigotry is fundamentally dangerous.

A racist, bigoted person cannot be trusted with the safety, well-being or educational future of a single student.

Buffalo school board to boot Carl Paladino unless he resigns

At its core, racism and bigotry are the beliefs that certain groups of people are inferior to others. This line of thinking simply cannot exist, in any shape, form, or fashion in our school system. Period. Too much of what happens in school systems is simply too subjective to allow even a hint of racism to exist within.

kingschool31n-4-web.jpg

kingschool31n-3-web.jpg

Malvern, Ark., teacher Trent Bennett (l.) resigned Thursday after horrendous social media comments aimed at First Lady Michelle Obama. Blevins, Ark., school board member Ted Bonner (r.) donned blackface and posed holding a "Blak Lives Matters" sign.

Unfortunately, this is exactly what we are seeing on school boards and in school systems across the country.

On Thursday evening in Buffalo, N.Y., the local school board voted 6-2 to boot Carl Paladino from their board unless he resigns. That two people still supported him, despite his outrageous bigotry, is a painful sign of our times. Paladino, who was also co-chair of Donald Trump’s New York campaign for President, recently compared First Lady Michelle Obama to a gorilla and stated that he hoped she would be “let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe” to join other gorillas in caves in 2017.

How in the hell did this man openly and publicly say such a thing and still get two votes of confidence from his fellow board members? It’s outrageous. He should’ve been terminated immediately. That he still has a job a week later is a new insult in and of itself. If nothing else, it strongly suggests that school systems simply do not take racism seriously.

KING: Black family brutalized by Texas cop for reporting assault

A similar fight is going down right now in Arkansas over yet another openly bigoted white man on a school board. This time, the man openly dressed in full blackface, with fake rotten teeth, and a sign that read “Blak Lives Matter.” Yes, the “c” was left out on purpose. What he did should’ve warranted his immediate termination, but he’s been fighting it off for months now. A man who is so willing to be that offensive and racist has no place making any decisions on the education of any children.

campaign-2016-michelle-obama.jpg

The first lady has not replied to the heinous commentary.
(Jim Cole/AP)
Another white school board member was found to be posting outrageously racist and bigoted memes on Facebook. This time, the board member was in Roseville, Mich., and is the Vice President of the board. A man could not post what he posted about Muslims and African Americans and treat everyone fairly. His posts revealed how he thinks of Muslims and black folk. Again, he should’ve been removed or fired immediately, but people are instead arguing for his freedom of speech.

This is a fundamental misapplication of the Constitution. This man, and all racists for that matter, are free to say ignorantly racist stuff without harm of arrest, but that freedom of speech absolutely does not mean freedom from every single possible consequence. If you are racist, and you act on your racism, you do not deserve any position inside of a school system. PERIOD!

Similar battles like this are going down in Kansas, in Vermont, with a different teacher in Arkansas who called Michelle Obama the “First Chimp,” and in Texas. Michelle Obama seems to be a particular fixation for racists in schools. A Virginia school board member was also caught making racist comments about her.

KING: White privilege extends to flying, people of color all know

And in almost each and every case, the racism has been treated with kid gloves by governing bodies. Either the cases have been left to drag on for weeks or months, or officials are allowed to peacefully resign as if what they did simply doesn’t warrant termination. It does.

Being a racist must be grounds for immediate termination. Instead, it appears that our current reality simply makes it grounds for drawn-out discussions on whether or not it’s a big deal.
