Not surprising. The resume's that I browsed, a good portion of them had degrees and Oracle Certified Professional certs. I was like man, we got some real strong candidates. Not really the case. The fuck shit they do is hilarious. Occasionally i sit in on developer interviews with the data warehouse team. One guy aced the interview, but the guy who showed up for the job was a totally different guy. The bastard had someone else sit in and do his interview!! He lasted a few weeks before they discovered he could barely write PL/SQL. He was out of there. Another guy was on skype and the lighting was all fucked up. We couldn't see his face properly and when he answered the questions the sound we heard wasn't matching the way his mouth was moving. I was like wtf?!?

Someone was in the background providing the answers and he was trying to "lip-sync" his way through the interview!

I interviewed one DBA candidate and I had the guys resume in front of me. He had one of those wordy, well dressed resumes with a ton of skills listed.
Me: So your resume says you have extensive experience and expertise using RMAN?
Him: Yes.
Me: Ok here is a scenario. Your production database goes down due to hardware failure. Once your hardware issue is addressed and the OS is back online how would you recover the database using RMAN?
Him: Umm, well. Lets see.....first I would umm. Its been a long time since i've used RMAN..umm.
Me:

He bumbled and stumbled through his answer and I could tell the guy had no idea how to do it. It was an open ended question but a basic oracle recovery scenario.
A seasoned DBA could walk me through that scenario with no hesitation. This guy supposedly had 7 years of experience.
