Former President Donald Trump promised Thursday evening to “make New York City great again” during a raucous rally in the South Bronx, his first major campaign event in the state of his birth since 2016.
“This is some turnout,” Trump told a rowdy crowd in Crotona Park. “We have thousands of people outside the gate.”
The event was permitted to host up to 3,500 people, but thousands more gathered outside security checkpoints in the 127.5-acre public park in the hope of catching a glimpse of the 45th president or a snatch of his remarks.

Trump campaign senior adviser Chris LaCivita claimed to The Post that 20,000 people had RSVPed to the event, though no immediate crowd estimate was made available by the NYPD.
In his remarks, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee lamented that “Joe Biden is not getting the job done for the Bronx” and “not getting the job done for New York.”
“Our subways are squalid and unsafe, the ceiling tiles are falling down, and they look worse than a Third World country,” continued Trump, 77. “The medians of our highways are crumbling, our sidewalks are littered with garbage bottles and trash.

“But worst of all are the discarded needles from people that so desperately are in need of help,” he went on.
“And we have mobs of migrants fighting our police officers and giving America the middle finger,
but we are not going to let this continue,” Trump declared.
“Joe Biden is the worst president in the history of our country,” the former president added later in his remarks. “He has no sense – doesn’t know what he’s doing, is grossly incompetent.”

“Our country’s going to hell, but we’re gonna turn it around,” he vowed.
At least one protest group – Rise and Resist – lined up near the entrance to the rally and unfurled a banner that read, “No dictators in USA,” ahead of Trump’s speech.
“Convict Trump already,” another protester’s sign read.
The Post witnessed a screaming match between one protester and a Trump supporter in one of the huge lines to get into the park.

There was also a small scuffle between Trumpers and anti-Trumpers, with some pushing and shoving, outside the gates.
There was a strong odor of marijuana in the air as well, though it was unclear if it was coming from protesters or Trump supporters.
There were no immediate reports of arrests or injuries.
Trump, who officially moved to his Florida Mar-a-Lago resort in 2019, has been stuck in Manhattan since mid-April as he stands trial on charges of falsifying business records to conceal “hush money” payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The Republican’s campaign team has aimed to make good use of Trump’s enforced time in the city as part of a larger strategy to reach out to traditional Democrat voters.
In the deep-blue Bronx, where Trump received 16% support four years ago, voter registration tables were set up right by the stage in Crotona Park.
More than 50 people attending the rally had registered to vote in the hours before Trump’s speech, which organizers deemed a good number while hoping for more.

With no court proceedings Thursday, the former president spent the day golfing at his Bedminster club in New Jersey before heading back to Trump Tower late in the afternoon and making the 10-mile drive from Midtown Manhattan to Crotona Park.
Thursday’s rally followed a seaside spectacle May 11 in the Jersey Shore town of Wildwood, which drew an estimated 100,000 fans of the former president to the Garden State.

What do you think? Post a comment.
Despite the outreach, it would be a major upset for Trump to take New York or New Jersey in 2024.
An April Siena College poll showed President Biden up 10 percentage points on Trump in the Empire State, and an Emerson College Polling survey from March had the incumbent up by seven percentage points in the Garden State.

Trump will win if he does more speeches like the one in the Bronx

“We are going to win New York!” Donald Trump boasted at what he described as his Bronx “love fest” Thursday evening.
Well . . . maybe.
But Trump’s unexpected rally did show he can win enough of the country to take back the presidency.
First was the setting itself.

You don’t see Joe Biden flying into Texas or Louisiana for a rally; he has a hard enough time convincing registered Democrats that he’s not a failed president.
Trump has an energized base, giving him the flexibility to, say, spend a weekend on a New Jersey beach or an evening in the Boogie Down Bronx.

Speaking of which: Trump spent part of his Bronx speech talking about his career as a real-estate developer, about perseverance, about his love of New York City.

People don’t just want a litany of what is wrong, they want to know how you’re going to improve their lives.
You don’t need to win The Bronx in 2024.
But keep up the themes that you brought there, and you’ll win all the swing states you need to.

It can't just be that every non white who supports Trump is a "coon" or somehow self-hating as is parroted around here. There is deep dissatisfaction with the democrats and the "Trump is a racist" charge has lost a lot of steam when you have jim crow joe as president. You had Black people and Hispanics chanting "build that wall" in the Bronx yesterday. Are they racists and xenophobes? Or maybe they don't think letting in 8 million illegals in 3 years and spending their tax money on them while they struggle is a good idea. Nobody hated Trump until he ran for president and the democrats and media told you to.

1/3 of those idiots were bussed in. 1/3 were locals paid to be there. 1/3 were curiosity seekers. My boy told me they paid the hard boys to watch the buses. He said the thing for this summer is the ny young republican party paying all blacks and latinos to show and/or wear the merch. Said cats are going frpm place to place getting paid. Said it's the easiest money he ever made.

If you know Crotona Park and the area you know that shit was planned way in advance. Ain't Nobody in Crotona checking for this asshole. And Crotona is a big fucking park and I know just where he was - it's a small area, selected to make the crowd seem large.

And BTW, notice of these "celebrities" that are endorsing this orange traitor are independently generating income. They're just riding his jock hoping for some cash flow.

Can you honestly say that the potential for positive movement on issues central to black people’s well being is greater with trump and the GOP than with biden and the DNC? Unless you're a 2%'er trying to avoid taxes or government regulation, what's trump doing to really make you better off? Granted it’s no small issue that biden has allowed and supported a significant number of new immigrants, where trump radically opposed them. Otherwise, how is trump so much better than biden? Of course, biden has made some racist statements and touted such policies in the distant past. However, trump has a much more recent history of projecting racist sentiments with his good people on both sides, shithole countries, BLM thug comments just to name a few. Seriously, just trying to have a respectful dialog, so if you’d just answer the first question yes or no, I’d greatly appreciate it.

The issues central to Black people's well being are the same as other Americans, economic prosperity, safety/security and freedom. There's nothing special I need from the government just because I'm Black. I don't need a "Black agenda." I don't think there is a government solution to the problems of the Black community, the changes must come from within, mainly cultural changes. I just want the government to provide an environment where everyone has equal opportunity. Joe Biden is failing at the basic responsibilities of government and seems more concerned about the citizens of the world vs American citizens. We bankroll other countries wars while our citizens struggle. We will spend (borrowed) billions on Ukraine, Israel, Hamas and even take care of 10 million people if they show up at the border. That "significant number" of illegals/asylum seekers that Joe has let in is more that the population of 30 U.S. states, so let's not act like just a few thousand people came through. We see democrats rolling out the red carpet for strangers and providing benefits they won't even give to their own tax paying citizens. America first sounds pretty good to me when I look at the actions of the democrats. I see Black people in Chicago and New York rightfully pissed off when the party they've been loyal to for decades just dumps these unvetted people in their neighborhoods using their tax money to feed and house strangers knowing they would never do that for them. I see democrat politicians (even Black ones) openly admitting they want the illegals here to add to the counts for their districts because it gets democrats more voting power. So if Black people are screwed over in the process, too damn bad. Shut up and vote. The disrespect is remarkable. Since 2020 Biden has told us Black people don't know how to use the internet and if you didn't vote for him, you weren't Black. So we don't have to go back in the day to see Biden's racism. I see people are still spreading the "very fine people" lie even in 2024. Below is a clip from cnn putting that lie to bed for good.

This isn't the same democrat party. All my political beliefs are exactly the same as when I was voting for democrats. It's the democrats that have lurched too far to the left and no longer have basic common sense positions on the major issues. They promise to champion the causes of each racial/ethnic/gender/sexual group in return for their votes (which they never fulfill for Black people). Voting for democrats is now means voting for shit I'm definitely not aligned with. One of the reasons they're having problems with their Muslim base because they aren't down the homo/trans worldview they are pushing. The democrats are on some weirdo shit with the gender madness. The party doesn't know what a woman is and thinks a man can transform into a woman and vice versa. I'm never voting for that bullshit. That's the real war on women. Democrats are just bad for Americans, period. Regardless of race. So to answer your question, yes, Donald Trump and the republicans are better for Black people at this time because a rising tide lifts all boats and Biden is the captain of the Titanic.

1) Economic prosperity: No doubt the economy was better under Trump and people are doing worse under Biden. I don't even need to go into detail on this one.

2) Safety/security: Biden's open border has allowed criminal aliens and an unknown number of terrorists into the country with over 300 on the terror watch list being caught last year. There were over 1.1 million known "got aways" last year so we know plenty of people who hate the United States have walked across the border. In San Diego alone since October, over 30,000 Chinese nationals 80% men have crossed into the country. You could low key sneak a foreign army into the United States with no problem. The next 911 will be by someone who walked across the border. I live in a border state. The potential threats are pouring in right where I live so this is a direct threat to my family's safety. We see the news stories of illegals fighting police and killing U.S citizens. Internationally, all hell broke loose as soon as Biden took over. All of a sudden we're in a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine and in danger of being pulled into a a wider war in the middle east. We are the closest to WW3 since I've been alive. Trump was brokering peace deals in the middle east when he was in office and didn't get us involved in any new wars. So I trust Trump better on issues regarding domestic safety and international politics. Me and mine are definitely in more danger with Joe Biden in office.

3) Freedom: There's a dangerous undercurrent of authoritarianism in the democrat party that worries me more than the backwards ass policy decisions. An example would be Joe Biden and the democrats trying to force everyone in America to take an experimental drug or lose their job. Anyone who didn't want to take the shot better thank Trump for appointing conservative justices because every democrat justice voted yes for the mandate. The democrat states rolled out the vaccine passports and were all to eager to cut you off from society if you didn't take the drug. Sorry but I don't want the government to be able to force me take a new, I need to make that decision for myself. That alone should be disqualifying for everybody. I saw how the democrats reacted in a crisis and I didn't like what I saw. The Biden administration basically set up a "censorship-industrial complex” to suppress information on social media the government deem "misinformation" that was actually true information, just unfavorable to the government narrative. They had to shut it down when it was exposed. Didn't the democrats used to be the party of free speech and speaking truth to power? Democrats seem to really be into government coercion these days. But it will always be in order to "keep you safe." They love the FBI and intelligence agencies all of a sudden too. We are told to trust what they say 100%. The democrats are "the man" now.

Democrats for some reason want to have a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) which is just surveillance and control disguised as money. You'll have an App on your phone to which "digital dollars" can be deposited. All digital dollars have serial numbers and are gps trackable. The government will know where its money is at all times. The government sees everything you buy and can restrict your purchases at will for any reason, instantly. You have an unpopular opinion the government doesn't like or posted something bad on twitter? They can cut off your money. You don' want to get the latest "vaccine" or behind on your booster? They can cut off your money. You bought too much meat this month and exceeded your carbon footprint? They can cut off your money. The money will be programmable and can have an expiration dates. So when the government drops you some cash for your monthly UBI it might have an expiration date. So you don't spend that $1,000 in a specified time frame, and poof! It's gone. Forget about saving money. Instant taxation will be possible. Now who would want to have anything like that unleashed on their citizens? Well the DEMOCRATS do. Below is Elizabeth Warren (who hates crypto because that's self controlled finance) telling you she's all for a CBDC.

Last week the republicans in the house introduced "H.R. 5403: CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act. This basically said the Federal Reserve can't unleash a CBDC on the public. 192 democrats voted against it, only 3 voted for it. So as a policy, democrats support government control and surveillance through a CBDC. That's a no no for me. Donald Trump has already come out and said he would never allow a CBDC for Americans. Why do democrats support this?

Maybe because they are completely aligned with the Word Economic Forum (WEF) agenda. If you aren't familiar with the group, you better get familiar. They basically want to control world behavior and population through a technocracy and a CBDC would be their enforcement hammer. They push the climate change scam, electric everything and never met a vaccine they didn't think you should be injecting. Bill Gates is a huge supporter. The democrats are so aligned with the WEF that Joe Biden even used the WEF's slogan " Build Back Better" for his campaign in 2020. The WEF predicts by 2030 " YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND BE HAPPY." Does that sound like something you want for your future? The democrats are completely on board for all of it.

Dude, I don’t know if you answered my main question or not because that’s just too much. Your opening statement that black americans want the same things as other americans isn’t off base. However, you go off the rails with your very next statement, that is if you are truly black. Black people need the government to do something for them most other americans don’t with regard to economic prosperity, safety/security and freedom. We need the government to EQUALLY enforce our rights to pursue these objectives without interference from their own nefarious governmental elements, as well as citizens of the majority that have built their culture in large part around subjugating, exploiting and terrorizing black people. If you don’t understand that its much different for black people in american to pursue these objectives than it is for white people then we have no basis for further conversation.

Dude, I don’t know if you answered my main question or not because that’s just too much. Your opening statement that black americans want the same things as other americans isn’t off base. Yes, your world view is Black people need special help to succeed. I don't believe that. Go vote for Jim crow Joe as usual.

We deserve it. Black americans deserve special consideration from our government to propel our success because, for hundreds of years american’s governmental institutions have endorsed and facilitated our subjugation and exploitation by its white citizens. So, don’t believe that, and fuck your world view.

The world doesn't owe you anything. Stop acting like is 1950, you haven't been through shit. It's your loser mentality that keeps you kissing that democrat ass hoping someone can help you out since you can't do it yourself.

I kinda wish you could have your way of going it alone in America as a black man without any civil rights. Fortunately, for the rest of us you can’t. We could always poll the board and see if your sentiments are widely shared by the rest of the black people here. :)
