But the U.S. puts a tariff on the China made TVs raising the cost to Walmart to say $120 a pop instead of $100. The importer Walmart says hell "I'm not going to eat that additional $20" and instead passes the $20 on to its customers.
So what happens? The price of the TV at retail rises and customers say fuck it and stop buying; Walmart sales slump and reduces orders for China made tvs; China says okay bitches ima put a tariff on your shit. And the trade war is on. One thing is for sure, it is always the consumer who will take it in the shorts as a result of having to unnecessarily pay more. Canada imports tons of US liquor. Most Canadians would choose Jack Daniels, or Southern Comfort over crown or club any day. The government charges so much tax on alcohol the foreign and domestic brands cost about the same.
Think twice. Trudeau's retaliation tariffs don't start for 2 weeks. In the meantime, Canadian businesses will be stockpiling American goods like crazy.
