The thing is it takes a special person to want to run for political office. It’s a calling. Normally, these folks begin to serve from a young age — from page, to intern, to paid intern, to congressional staff, to Member of Congress. Throughout this process, while they’re getting their education, they learn how to govern. I guess who needs these checks and balances when lobbyist write the legislation and are the ones who are truly governing. We have come to a sad place in our great country.
