***Tripster's 2008 Investments (Ongoing thread)***

If anyone needs anywhere to invest join Scottrade.com... It's better than Etrade, and if you use this code "HSRQ5464" when they ask you "How did you hear about Scottrade?" you get three free trades... Otherwise trades are $7 with NO maintenance fees :yes:

Etrade = Maintenace fees
Sharebuilder = Website always down

Now, back to business. What do you all know about "TTM"...
It started @ 3.00 and yesterday it jumped to 10.50.. When it's "down" it usually holds @ $9.00 after previously holding @ 7 for two to three weeks. Do your research =)

Tata Motors (TTM) is a great stock to have in your portfolio. As India's #1 carmaker, it almost has to grow over the next 5 to 10 years as Indian people continue to buy cars.
:yes::yes::yes:
And I got in @ $7 a share!

would like your thoughts on a couple things..keep in mind i'm new but i see the potential in investing/trading..

1. with sharebuilder, whats the problem with quick return on selling then trading. i dont understand that. something about them not doing an instant transaction. just wondering how this would hurt me. i'm looking right now into long term investment. i'm not touching day trading untill i'm much deeper.

2. what do you think about citigroup once the economy recovers. i was thinking about gettin 100 shares once it does.

3. i've heard people mention day trading and using rolling stocks hurting them on their taxes. does day trading and using rolling stocks have that much of an affect on how much the irs takes?

sorry if i sound like a noob. i am but i'm learning a whole lot and wont get knee deep until i know everything. i'll be buying my first stock at some pt this week. more than likely a penny stock..also considering bank of americal. may even drop a bit more into that then i thought

Man to be honest with you I probably know less than you.

All I know is the basics.

I jumped in a few years ago basically only knowing if a stock goes up you make money and if it goes down you lose money.

Hopefully someone else will see your questions and help you because I'm still bascially a noob myself.

Oh shit! I never seen this b4... I'm up on TTM

My $10 option is in the money as it's currently trading at $10.40

Call is in Oct.

i think oct we get a pull back but if we see a down week this week then I think the healthy pull back is behind us until after the dow 10,200 mark. Iam tempted to buy some puts now.

funny I dont here people talk about calls/puts on here.

as for the broker wars. I have both etrade and a scottstrade account and i must say etrade is by far the better of the 2.

the site is user friendly
i get my dividends faster then scottstrade for international owned companies
its alot easier to transfer money from one source in or out of etrades accounts then scottstrade
Etrade allows you to sell different lots of shares that you have
Scottstrade just put dividend reinvestment feature on their accounts
Etrades research is better then scottstrade
Portfolio analysis on Etrade helps you stay diversified while scottstrade doesn't have this feature
You can track your portfolio vs. market indexes on Etrade, you can't do that on scottstrade

basically for the beginning investor scottstrade is fine, but the extra money your paying per trade for etrade for somebody who trades alot it is worth it.

yall niggaz lose some money or something? it's quiet in here. what stocks are looking good right now? is FTWR still a good play?

but how many shares u get man..

I can't tell that information sorry.

But I should have gotten in when it was a lot lower.

I remember looking at the ticker when it was at $100 and some change.

I was waiting for it to go back to $100 so I could buy but it never did. Lowest it got was $103. I should have bought then.

But fuck it I still came out on top.

I'm currently wait ing for AIG to get back in the $30's but I dont' know if that will happen.

i only play the penny stocks. if you know how to read a chart you can make a lot of quick money while not breaking the bank.. niggaz is sleeping on this shit..if someone wants to make some quick money next week, shoot me a PM for a money making penny stock. if you got about a stack it could double or triple that.

Liquor Group Wholesale, Inc.(LIQR.OB)

Been watching this stock for a while now and someone is making a fortune off of it by buying and dumping large quantities.

Every couple of weeks on average this stock will drop to 12-14 cents, stay there for a short while and then bounce back up to 19-22 cents a share and stay there.
