Wow, I have never seen an LCD list without Samsung in the top 5, if not #1. The 550, 650 & 750 series are all heavily touted. As a matter of fact, other than the Toshiba, the rest are considered low end. Westinghouse consistently gets low ratings on all their models, and that particular one averages 3 1/2 stars on Amazon user ratings.

edited: Sorry, just realized whats up. This is only for 42" and Samsung doesn't make that in a 1080p, only 40", then 46".

Damn a 42" is considered smaller class now. Always thought I had a big screen

To me it still is, but as I was shopping for a new TV, I noticed its not as big as it used to be with all the big crazy sizes nowadays. 42" is good enough for me still

PEACE!!!!!

Don't believe this bullshit, the number 1 TV only has a 1000:1 contrast ratio thats garbage

my uncle got a vizio 26in ...
I can see the difference between his and my dell w3000 which is running on 4 years old

vizio is a good bargain but if you want quality get a samsung or a sony...
from what I seen and read those 2 are the best HDTV's out.

when my dell dies I will be getting one of those with the 120hz shit in them

Just bought this Samsung 67" HDTV. It arrived Monday and it makes my home office look like a theater. That's the stand I bought below.

I put it in a corner of the room to get the best viewing angle from anywhere in the room. The TV only weighs 87 lbs and the screen is 5 feet across. The picture is bright and clear. The light source should last for 60K to 100K hours. Very satisfied.

I get most of my electronics advice from the following.

As for the Samsungs specifically, you can go to any website that has reviews, ie Amazon. I like to hear from regular cats that bought the TV also.

As for prefessional reviews I like

http://reviews.cnet.com/best-hdtvs/

This is just an article I ran across.

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/a-new-lcd-king/cnet-says-new-samsung-lcd-hdtvs-best-ever-263762.php

Don't get it twisted Panasonic, Toshiba and Sharp also make some good ones.

with number 5 being true the one thing (and to answer if vizio's are good) is that its a bang for your buck. the vizio brand aint fucking with a bravia and the like but its the best of the lower end tv's.

you can find a tv with better contrast but at a much higher price. or lower end one that may seem just as good for lower price but with crappy audio or its only 1080i no 1080p. 42" at $1100 aint bad at all.. I have a 37" that i paid just under $800 during a sale at costco.

as for if the list is bullshit or not, take it up with pcworld its their list

I would never spend that kind of change on a Vizio. If Those things break good luck getting them fixed.

Thanks SO 4 the geeks.com website. I'm looking to another Tv. I want a 37in HDTV. a 42in is too big for me right now. Anyone know a of good site that sells 37in 1080P? I found a 32in 1080P tv that works great. I want a 37in 1080 P. I've only found 1080P's in 40inches and up.

Samsung. A homeboy who's heavy into Electronics kept popping off about Samsung. Is Samsung that deal as far as tv's go??? Hell consumer electronics ain't gonna cut it. What's a good mag about Tv's and electronics?? I need electronics help.

That list is for poor people...

The real list:

1. Sony Bravia
2. Panasonic
3. Samsung
4. Pioneer

:lol::lol::lol:

your list only lists brands. the pcworld list is going by specific models...

i'm not standing by pcworld like the list is bible... but still

We have a 42" LG and the picture and sound are awesome. I'm not sure I'd want anything over
42". We have the sofa pushed as far back as possible now so we arent too close to the TV.
I hate sitting too close.

I guess if you have a massive family room or living room a larger set would be a plus but for
us, 42" is just right.

damn yo u would think sony and samsung would b on there but nope

im about to stop reading labels..and give the underdogs more of a chance

i paid 1200 for my sony 40"

DON'T get it twisted...SAMSUNG & SONY are not on the list because they SKIP the size 42...NOT because the other one's listed are better...THEY ARE NOT!..they just happen to make a size 42" TV. For the size they DO make SAMSUNG is KING followed by SONY...all the others like Toshiba,LG,Sharp etc play musical chairs all fighting for a seat on the TOP TV's List

This list is American Superiority bullshit. No Samsung? No Sony? Vizio? THE FUCK OUTTA HERE. I have two Samsungs. One a 42 inch plasma, the other a 32 in LCD for the bedroom. They are BEAUTIFUL. They sell Vizeo at Circuit city for a reason, SUB PAR QUALITY :smh::smh::smh:
