Avatar star Michelle Rodriguez has been left stunned after learning her father's family regularly practised inbreeding in a bid to maintain good genes.
The 33 year old recently traced her family history for US TV show Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and researchers unearthed information about her Puerto Rican ancestors that she would have preferred not to have known - her paternal great-great-grandparents were first cousins.
According to genealogists, incestuous relationships were commonplace in certain territories as a way to ensure desirable characteristics, like lighter skin tones, were carried on to future generations.
The shocked actress says, "I guess my father's side loved to do it in the family."
The Resident Evil beauty also had her DNA tested to reveal the truth about her heritage and the findings indicated she was 72 per cent European, 21 per cent black and six per cent Native American.

I remember reading about that, she traced her genetic roots on this PBS show I think. Other notable actors have been on the show too.

I'm more than sure that what she meant. She doesn't seem to have any issues with having black genes or being around black folk. Also after seeing her on Attack of the Show a while back, I know she's not ever good at vocalizing her thoughts lol.
