To those who expect an afterlife: How much do you expect death to change you?

How much of what you are in this life do you expect to carry forward into whatever you expect to follow? Do you expect the secrets of the universe to open to you?

Friendships? Love (in it's various guises?) Hatred? Prejudice? Disability? Memory?

Would it actually be tolerable to be essentially the person you are today for eternity?

energy cannot be created nor destroyed....only transferred...the life force that animates the body will take on a new form on a quantam level that may or may not include some of the charges between the brain cells that we call thoughts, memories, and beliefs.....imho

You are not a body with a spirit, you're a spirit with a body. So when you pass on you become who you have always been and not who you were in this realm of existence.

I forgot where I read this, but it made sense to me.
I suggest that everything that has ever existed always will exist, and that the place where this immortality lives is the set-in-concrete position it takes in time. I also suggest that time is only relative to the perceptions of the perceiver and that when that perception ends, at the end of life, it merely begins anew. Should reality be affected by this re-invented perception to the point of an alteration, then multiple and infinite realities, and lives, would be the result.. Quantum mechanics, anyone?

I also believe this, however, I tend to believe that our spirits are here to learn and experience different things from different aspects. I have no idea what the ultimate goal is. It's kind of like Jonathan Livingston Seagull, we keep going to different heights and improving ourselves. I may sound crazy, but it's my thoughts.

That is some deep shit...As soon as I read this I was like...Where is Sean69???

This is my latest theory on life and death they are just like awake and dream states... both seem to be real while you are experiencing them

I think "death" is the longer lasting natural state and your "life" - just like a dream - is something you won't remember in detail after you "die" and return to the death state...

You will remember all the things from the death state before you were alive just like when you wake up in the morning you can remember yesterday and the day before with no problem ... Just like you now awake are the one who remembers your dreams but while sleeping you lose that same identity

... then you will forget you were ever alive and try to stay "dead" as long as possible until you fall back asleep aka reborn and just like when you fall asleep at night and dream you still can't tell that you are just dreaming and really laying in a bed somewhere ... when you are "alive" you can't tell that you are "dead" and just having an experience

So Death = Awake state because it is continuous existence
and Alive = Sleep state because it is temporary and mostly will not be remembered

But I am not saying life is a dream - life is VERY real just behaves like a dream in the grand scheme of things
