Hannity would be on radio screaming about troops needing to come home now, calling for investigations and rallying the Republicans under the banner of ending the Iraq war now.

And the Democrats would have been talking "Stay the Course", and calling the Republicans weak on defense and wimpy.

This whole thing is politics as usual. The intel was probably changed, but the Iraq war was an extremely popular move back then. The polls in 2002 had Bush's popularity at historical proportions. And when Baghdad went down? Forget about it! Bush was the Man!

What made this war political pariah is the fact that the Bush administration did not plan well against the insurgency.
