Tire Repair Spot.

I notice a lot of people (mostly Africans) doing this. I know of certain spots that can use the service but it aint in the area.
Anyone know if the money is good?

it can be done...but you cant survive on just tire repairs only. you have to sell used tires, maybe even a few used cars.

I know of a few peeps out here that set up a shop and are selling used tires, among the repairs they make, also sell used cars and I just noticed them breaking into the rims game. So it's all about adding products that are relevant. The money is good, if the brains behind it are focused. Peace.

I don't know if you have to go as far as selling used cars...that's a whole other element right there...most tire shops I've seen sell rims, balance and rotate tires, change tires (someone may have just bought a set of rims/tires and need them put on the car), and obviously repair tires and sell used tires...as for the money I can't call it but I've seen shops that's been around for years ranging from the local "mom & pop" shops that look like junkyards but they've been in the community for years so people trust doing business with them to official looking repair shops that have an area designated for tire repairs and the like...ask around at places you've seen in your location...keep it real and just ask make it clear that you won't be setting up shop near them though...that will put them at ease and make them a little bit more helpful...

Definitely have an angle with this one, or else you'll end up looking like those broke old dudes who waste the day away sitting in a chair, talking to the bums who pass by waiting for a customer to come through.

I don't know about how much money is in it, but I can count at least a dozen shops around this town. Three of them I've done business with. The first one I went to after I purchased some chrome rims from a junkie. They had the wrong fitment but I sold to that shop at cost and kept it movin. Second time I caught a titty on my rear tire and since my tires run about $200 a pop and I didn't have the road protection plan, I dipped by a shop and had a nearly new (8/10) Michelin of the same model mounted for about $50. That tire is still on the ride. And a few weeks after that, caught a nail in my front tire near the sidewall. Non repairable. The last shop I went to was closed, but I caught another shop on Edmonson that hooked it up with another nearly new Michilen. $50 and I was out in about 20 minutes.
They're a great resource as far as I'm concerned. I would have hated to had come out my pocket with $400. And anytime I go there, they have steady business coming through. The question really is, how do they obtain their inventory and how much is the overhead?

It's mostly Latins doing it where I live. My uncle does it and he makes a very good living off of it. Business all day long(he picked a good location for it). He also sells rims and hubcaps besides new and used tires.
