I don't know about how much money is in it, but I can count at least a dozen shops around this town. Three of them I've done business with. The first one I went to after I purchased some chrome rims from a junkie. They had the wrong fitment but I sold to that shop at cost and kept it movin. Second time I caught a titty on my rear tire and since my tires run about $200 a pop and I didn't have the road protection plan, I dipped by a shop and had a nearly new (8/10) Michelin of the same model mounted for about $50. That tire is still on the ride. And a few weeks after that, caught a nail in my front tire near the sidewall. Non repairable. The last shop I went to was closed, but I caught another shop on Edmonson that hooked it up with another nearly new Michilen. $50 and I was out in about 20 minutes.
They're a great resource as far as I'm concerned. I would have hated to had come out my pocket with $400. And anytime I go there, they have steady business coming through. The question really is, how do they obtain their inventory and how much is the overhead?
