Infidelity among male athletes seem to be very much in vogue these days, from Steve McNair to A-Rod to Shaq to Roger Clemens to Michael Jordan to Tiger to...the list is endless! Sports figures, according to a recent CNN report, seem to have no shame in their cheating game--80 percent to 90 percent of these men have had outside marital trysts. Now sports broadcaster and former NFL player Tiki Barber has joined the ranks of cheating husbands by announcing that he is leaving his wife of eleven years, Ginny, who is eight months pregnant with twins, for a 23-year-old, former NBC-TV intern, Traci Lynn Johnson (see her picture below).
Traci Lynn Johnson
Sources say, Barber met the modelesque Johnson in 2007, when she was an intern at 30 Rock, the famous NBC address in New York City. Reportedly, the ex-Giants football running back has been keeping company with Johnson for quite a while now. As far back as five months ago, when his wife was three months pregnant, Barber was spotted with Johnson at a screening of a documentary.
Oddly enough, Barber, who has never minced words when it came to his own philandering dad, didn't seem to fall far from that tree. He told a New York Post reporter back in 2004 how he felt about his father's wandering ways: "I don't give a [bleep] that the relationship didn't work," he said of his parent's split. "Not only did he abandon her, I felt like he abandoned us for a lot of our lives. I have a hard time forgiving that."
Published reports state that Barber has moved out of the New York City residence he shared with his college sweetheart and their two young sons and now lives solo.
The 35-year-old sports figure released a statement yesterday in response to a mention in the Page Six section of the New York Post newspaper: "After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to separate," Barber said. "This decision was a painful one, but we are moving forward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known." Barber did not, however, confirm or deny any involvement with Johnson.
In 2007, Barber wrote a memoir, "Tiki: My Life in the Game and Beyond," and in the book he explains how he wanted to leave his kids with a positive impression of him, so unlike his father: "I want to be an honorable man, because that's what I want them both to be," he wrote, noting, "My family is everything to me."
