TI Responds To Q Tip's @IggyAzalea: Blacks "Paranoid", Mad Whites Won't Kiss Our Ass

Re: TI Responds To Q Tip's @IggyAzalea: Blacks "Paranoid", Mad Whites Won't Kiss Our

Teena Marie? Somebody put Teena Marie in the same convo with Iggy? GTFOH.

Re: TI Responds To Q Tip's @IggyAzalea: Blacks "Paranoid", Mad Whites Won't Kiss Our

Teena Marie could ACTUALLY sing though...

it never sounded like a caricature or a parody.

Iggy can RAP....

Are either one of them writing their material?

Is the style, lingo, or dialect they are performing in something native to them?

Why didn't ATeena blow up more and become THE QUEEN OF SOUL? She was White. She could sing it. She was cosigned by the Biggest name at the time, Rick James.

I'm actually interested that you guys do somehow give Teena a pass. I wonder if you would have when Square Biz was topping the charts.

Even funnier--- Teena WAS RAPPING in Square Biz, just as Blondie was, and no one is out here saying either one of the, invented rap.

Yet somehow you guys seem to think that somehow THIS WHITE GIRL will be the reason they do.

If Teena isn't the same as Iggy, then just STFU and let this 20 something yr old white girl have herr little moment in rap And for Gods sake, quit calling the guy who is capitalizing off her labor and efforts, her touring, her record sales, and whatevr other profit he can make A COON for doing business.

Re: TI Responds To Q Tip's @IggyAzalea: Blacks "Paranoid", Mad Whites Won't Kiss Our

She can't rap though

she can recite the words someone wrote, and that she writes. Rapping aint singing. She can talk, she can say the shit rythmically over the beat. The rest is subjective, We don't know how much she writes or don't write. I know she was writing before TI. I have heard that some people write some shit for her, but thats a lot of rappers, including Kanye. She says she writes it all. No one has come forward saying otherwise. Guess we'll never know

If TI writes for her, then thats more publishing for him, on top of what he gets for her writing probably.

Otherwise, I guess we can go back and forth saying "yes she can. No she can't"

Is she as good as Rich Homey Quan? Is she as good as the "I'm in love with the coco" guy? Youg Thug? These are all songs on the radio. Some will say those guys can rap, or at least they can write a song. I guess she can too.

She can't rap though

all I'm saying...

but that Fancy IS a monster hit

Not that even knew it was her song until recently because all I ever heard played was the beat and the chorus.

I aint got nothing against the girl...

but NOW she talking slick and exposing herself.

and on the Teena Marie topic I remember when she came out she had to pay dues...even WITH the Rick James co-sign.

And she EARNED it...and stayed completely in her lane.

It just is what it is...Iggy just rubs people the wrong way...

plan and simple.

And regardless...

these Black Men shouldn't be caping for her.

Let her fend for herself.

this MANY other causes they need to concern themselves with.

Re: TI Responds To Q Tip's @IggyAzalea: Blacks "Paranoid", Mad Whites Won't Kiss Our

She is misinformed. Iggy never expressed any disrespect for hiphop culture. She literally don't move without TI. Couldn't even do an interview without her boss calling shots and making sure she ain't say nothing out of pocket. Azealia is theast one to talk about respecting roots when she's disrespected plenty of people before her. That's why I posted the link that shows you all of the people she's gotten into it with including Pharrell, Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, jim jones, even Diplo who put her on, and now Ebro who tried to help her out as he's done before. He put her first record on hot97 and helped her out before. Check her out on Twitter disrespecting him now.
Iggy has been disresepctful of the craft and culture of Hip-Hop. You're weclome to disagree, but your dissension doesn't make Azealia Banks "misinformed."
Ebro was most definitely trying to give her some game, especially in telling her to put that focus on her music. He was telling her to keep the passion but be more constructive in how she presents shit. It literally ended with her agreeing to do so when she spoke on the fable she wrote.
Ebro has expressed enough questionable views himself to disqualify him as an objective source to put her up on game.
Yes, young MC and Hammer got criticized but no one linked it to white supremacy. She isn't playing s damsel, she's snapping back at Q Tips passive aggressive bullshit as he excuses the fake angle that Azealia set up. - and when she does, it's indignance.
Yes, MC Hammer was indeed linked to the propagation of White supremacy via "buck dancing" during an era of much civil injustice and our community under siege of drugs/crime/violence. The same way race/racism was factored into the criticism of him, is how it's being factored into the criticism of Iggy, but Iggy feels above reproach. She wants the acceptance of Black people, without any of the scrutiny of Black people. Which is a privilege even Black artists do not have.
Gangster rappers are criticized- my point is, make fun of her, sure... FINALLY take notice of her imitating a southern Black girl in her rhymes AFTER she's already done summer jam in front of thousands of cheering Black fans. It's definitely culture hopping, mostly because that's the poppin sound of the day. EVERYONE in hiphop does it and has always been doing it. It's cultural more than racial. It does not tie into all the other shit that Azealia brought up. One white girl having a good year in rap does not equate to white supremacy.
It's not just "cultural," because she's not the first or only artist from another culture that's hit the scene in the US and made strides as a Hip-Hop artist. John Legend signed Estelle and she was accepted, despite being "the British Lauryn Hill." She did not get the same scrutiny as Iggy. It's not just cultural.
And to see people go so far as to now make her TI's boss like she actually runs shit? Whoever does that thinks so low of themselves and their own people, there's no way they can ever imagine themselves in any seat of power. I think some people actually LIKE it that way. They'd rather be the tortured inferior slave- that way they can never be accountable for anything.
TI himself propped her up as being her own boss and called himself a just her "coe-lab-oar-ay-tour" in his bamallectual accent. Whether that's true or not, he and she were the ones who put that out there.

Nonsense. It's all relative. People can walk and chew gum at the same time, bruh. They don't have to choose between being troubled by serious social issues or interested in pop culture issues, especially when the two overlap. You seem more butthurt about people being allegedly butthurt over Iggy than the people who are allegedly butthurt over Iggy. Relax. All I'm trying to tell you is that although in it's own context it is relative to serious issue, it's not that serious, b.

Lol I ain't butthurt. The issues just done overlap.

But all I really gotta do is let you get all worked up and see if you'll be talking about this shit next year. I predict you won't.

Re: TI Responds To Q Tip's @IggyAzalea: Blacks "Paranoid", Mad Whites Won't Kiss Our

What people are forgetting or overlooking is that the hip hop community has always called out those it thought was faking the funk. Iggy admits to making pop rap and thats whats usually gotten the most criticism from the hip hop community.

Remember when peeps was saying Souljaboy KILLED hip hop?

Remember when MC Hammer was getting clowned?

Remember when KRS1 crashed PM Dawns concert and threw them OFF THE STAGE literally?

Remember the flack Vanilla Ice caught and he single-handedly set white rappers back 10 years.

Could you make a case that its purely racial? Maybe but you have to overlook that a number of white rappers including 3rd Bass, the Beastie Boys and Eminem never got that kind of backlash or to the degree the others listed got. In fact Em admits that his skin color gives him an extra 10 points and has said so in a few songs BUT the big difference is no one can deny his rap talent. Even his staunchest critics have to admit that he's a damn good rapper. The same with all those on that short list. Can anyone say the same for Iggy?

Could you make a case that its gender bias? Well female rappers have been embraced..except for those whose credentials were deemed questionable (cough BOSS cough)

Is there a racial element in the backlash..sure people look at Iggy and see Elvis or at least to paraphrase what record producer Sam Phillips said of Elvis in regards to Iggy "that if I could find a white girl who could rap and has a big butt like a black women I'd make a million dollars." Which is exactly how she comes off, a white chick with black attributes that makes it much more palatable to the "mainstream". Which is why her popularity can outpace Nicki Minaj's in half the time. And yeah there is some anger and jealousy about that but its more about a system that Iggy benefits from as well as her being perceived to be portraying a black character rather than being true to her own voice.

If Iggy wants to silence her critics then drop the big ass shaking and come with the lyrics and flow. But what she's experiencing is not unusual in the hip hop community at all.

Well, for someone who's not all worked up, it's odd that you would assume I am, despite you having more commentary in this thread than the OP. If it matters that much to you (which your participation seems to indicate), there's no shame in that. I don't assume you're losing any sleep over it, but it's clearly something you will be talking about next year if it comes up next year, just like you're talking about it right now that it's come up. That's not my prediction, that's just an observation based on your actual actions... but I digress: what Iggy is going through is par for the course in Hip-Hop. Her tantrum and TI's two-step won't change that.
