My principle is pragmatism-- I think Kamala Harris can beat Trump but I don't think Biden is as likely to. (I just think the replacement nominee has to be Kamala because dissing her to run a white man might hurt enthusiasm with black women enough to be decisive, as I explain in the other thread.) I'd be fine with Newsome, Tim Walz, Dean Phillips-- Maybe Trump could beat Marianne Williamson but no other person seriously mentioned is as weak as Biden. And that might not be fair to Biden but people who really fear a second Trump term need to take a more clear-eyed approach.
(Also, I think "only hinderance" is an overstatement. The bully pulpit is one of the main powers of the presidency and Biden can't command it the way he would have been able to 10 years ago. His inability to defend and advocate for himself is a legitimate hinderance. "Main" would be a better word.)

I've heard him speak numerous times. which of his gaffes rose above saying the wrong name of a country or leader here or there? i'm 44 and people my age do that. i also talk a lot for work and it's just a thing that happens from time to time. can you name the gaffe that illustrated critical cognitive decline to you? i ask this often and never really get a good answer.

We really need to go back to the drawing board if the only viable candidate on some people's minds is someone that's never ran for a political office in her life.
