This Is Some Funny Shit! Repubs in Cong, Delete Tweets Praising Sgt. Bergdahl Release

When news broke of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's release, several Republicans in Congress digitally offered their heartfelt prayers to Bergdahl's family and words of praise for America reclaiming one of its own. Only, you won't find any of those sentiments anymore online, for such words of prayer and praise have been scrubbed.

Case in point: Representative Mark Amodei (R-NV), who could not contain his excitement upon hearing the news:

Even better, the statement made by Representative Lee Terry (R-NE), which was later scrubbed from his website:
"A grateful nation welcomes the news of the return of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. I have the pleasure of regularly speaking with our nation's active duty military and veterans and I know that there is nothing more solemn than the pledge to never leave one of their own behind on the field of battle.

"Sgt. Bergdahl is a national hero. It's my hope that once he ultimately retires from active duty service, implementation of reforms to our nation's VA hospitals are made so that he will have access to the long-term care he has rightfully earned from the horrors he endured."
And then there's Joni Ernst, now poised to be the Republican candidate fighting for Senator Tom Harkin's Senate seat in Iowa, retracting thoughts and prayers. (When does a Republican retract prayers?)

It's almost as though these GOP officials were responding to a coordinated messaging effort to turn this prisoner release into the next Obama controversy.

Either that, or they simply changed their minds about the value of America saving one of its own.

Yep – it must have been the latter.

This is funny.

It's also funny that this is the only post I've seen about this situation at all.

Now, maybe since I've been real busy with life, I might have missed all the POW stories.

How do everyone feel about this situation?

BTW, for Obama's sake, I really hope that POW was an Op.

Well if you take your nose out of Hannity's and Limbaugh's asses then you might find some information other than wing nut talking points.

BTW, how are those republican concerns about more jobs?

CACS find time for nonsensical shit when they need a daily dose of lies. What's odd though they talk all this shit about loving the troops that protect our freedom. But have no problem talking shit about this American that suited up to serve. Not only are they now pissing on that American soldier who clearly was in trouble but they piss on his parents as well. These crackers now are threatening his life and the life of his father. Fuckin' terrorists.

If you and the right wing media lable it a scandal, then you can believe it's a scandal.

In reality it's not a scandal. It's just another attempt, just like the so called Benghazi scandal, the so called VA scandal, the so called IRS scandal (that fell of the media hype list) and other made up republican out rages so the republicans can draw attention away from their stone walling President Obama's agenda to move this country forward and away from their inaction and inattention to the economy and job creation, as well as trying to gin up the neanderthal base of the republican party for the 2014 mid terms.

Why else would republicans praise the release of Bo Bergdahl and then delete the Tweets?

YOU explain that!

Notice I put the *"* in "scandal".

Personally, I really hope there's something more to this situation.

About the deleting of tweets, if you know anything about politicians on social media *no matter what party*, they tend to have a staff member running the social media page. A lot of folks did not know the back story of Bergdahl's disappearance. Plus, a lot of folks did not know what we actually gave up for Bowe. Once that information came out, it's not that much of a stretch for politicians to do a sweep on any tweet their office has made.

From what I've read, and heard, most folks are made about the trade.

The one thing I'm waiting on is if we have a mass operation with us rounding up majority of the Taliban. This would tell me much more than what we know right now.

And just like robots, the republicans fell in line when Komandant Limbaugh gave orders to demonize the Bergdahl exchange.

How do you explain this flip flop?

Media Hold McCain Accountable For His Flip-Flop On Prisoner Exchange

mccainbergdahl.png

A growing number of mainstream media outlets are holding Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) accountable for flip-flopping on his support of a deal to release Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from Taliban capitivity.

McCain joined in the right-wing outcry that followed the White House's May 31 announcement that it had secured the release of Bergdahl, the only U.S. service member remaining in enemy hands from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, telling Politico that he "would not have made this deal" if he was the president and denying that he was ever told of the potential prisoner exchange in an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo.

McCain's rejection of the deal stood in stark contrast to his position on the issue just months ago, when he told CNN's Anderson Cooper that he "would be inclined to support" "an exchange of prisoners for our American fighting man," depending on the details -- an inconsistency the media initially missed.

He went on to day the exchange was "something I think we should seriously consider."

<iframe src="http://www.cnn.com/video/api/embed.html#/video/topvideos/2014/02/19/ac-mccain-talks-about-taliban-prisoner-of-war.cnn" frameborder="0" height="234" width="416"></iframe>

McCain's February position was already a change from the position he held in January 2012, when Rolling Stone's Michael Hastings reported that McCain "reluctantly came around" on the idea of exchanging the five Guantanamo detainees in question for Bergdahl.

After Media Matters raised the issue of McCain's inconsistency on Bergdahl's release, CNN's Jake Tapper noted McCain's conflicting stances on the prisoner exchange on the June 5 edition of The Lead. The New York Times wrote that McCain "switched positions for maximum political advantage." And MSNBC's Rachel Maddow criticized McCain for standing "against his own idea."

Days later, Tapper went on to press McCain on the inconsistency. McCain disputed the "flip-flop charge" by noting that he'd made his support contingent on "the details." McCain said the details of the deal that secured Bergdahl's release "are outrageous" and "unacceptable."

<iframe class="video-embed" src="http://mediamatters.org/embed/static/clips/2014/06/05/35574/cnn-lead-20140605-mccain-swap" allowfullscreen="" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" height="360" width="480"></iframe>

This attempt to rewrite history was short-lived. Washington Post fact checker Glenn Kessler weighed in the following morning, pointing out that "the most important detail -- the identity of the prisoners -- was known at the time he indicated his support" and stamping McCain's statements with the upside-down Pinnochio that denotes "flip flop":
McCain may have thought he left himself an out when he said his support was dependent on the details. But then he can't object to the most important detail -- the identity of the prisoners-that was known at the time he indicated his support. McCain earns an upside-down Pinocchio, constituting a flip-flop.
The New York Times called McCain on "switch[ing] positions for maximum political advantage" and Politico included the flip-flop in a list of times McCain has complained of misrepresentation this week.

Of course, you live in Texass!

for one, you are citing McCain like I like him. :hmm:
McCain does what McCain wants.

Secondly, not all politicians run their social media the same way. I was perfectly clear when I said that a lot of politicians have a staffer who runs their social media. They do that so the message can be clear, and the politicians phone/computer would be totally isolated from accounts being hacked. This is why president Obama still uses a Blackberry.

I've answered your questions, yet you cannot give me your opinion about the situation without playing the "gotcha" game.

Lets take party loyalty out of this.

What do you think of the whole Bowe situation?

I have my theories, and I rather talk about that instead of playing "gotcha". I can do the same, but it becomes very redundant really fast.

Whether you like McSame or not, he is a leader in the republican party, your party! Republicans rarely do anything independently. That's why there is a log jam in congress. They are the political party of uniformity, the party of conservative values. Don't run away from your political mantra. You like to throw Ted Kennedy around when you invoke "liberal" democrats. Own up to it!

And I would say the flip flop on the Bergdahl release was an isolated incident if it were just one republican politician, but several?

Republicans on Sgt. Bergdahl: Then & Now

Funny how this works: one minute they’re demanding that President Obama free Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl by “all means available,” and as soon as he does, they call for his impeachment. Let’s take a trip down recent-memory-lane, shall we?

palin_big_gulp.jpg

Sarah Palin Then:
“Todd and I are praying for Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl, his family, and all of his fellow soldiers who are putting their lives on the line to defend our freedom and protect democracy abroad,” Governor Palin said. “The capture of Private Bergdahl and the bombings in Jakarta prove that we have not defeated terrorism, and that radical extremists will stop at nothing to attack Westerners and our ideals.” July, 2009
Sarah Palin Now:
“No, Mr. President, a soldier expressing horrid anti-American beliefs – even boldly putting them in writing and unabashedly firing off his messages (http://nypost.com/2014/05/31/the-bizarre-tale-of-americas-last-known-pow/) while in uniform, just three days before he left his unit on foot – is not “honorable service.” Unless that is your standard.” June, 2014
allen-west.jpg

Former Rep. Allen West (R-FL) Then:
“Then there is Army SGT Bowe Bergdahl still held by the Islamic terrorist Haqqani network, probably in Pakistan, in the same place where Osama Bin Laden was hiding. This past POW/MIA national day of recognition, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel reiterated a pledge to secure the young Army NCO being held captive, but have there been any actions? Any time, attention, or even mention from the Commander-in-Chief? Nah, no camera highlights in it for him.” December, 2013
Former Rep. Allen West (R-FL) Now:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I submit that Barack Hussein Obama’s unilateral negotiations with terrorists and the ensuing release of their key leadership without consult — mandated by law — with the U.S. Congress represents high crimes and misdemeanors, an impeachable offense.” June, 2014
mccain_quote_fingers.jpg

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) Then:
“I would support. Obviously I’d have to know the details, but I would support ways of bringing him home, and if exchange was one of them, I think that would be something I think we should seriously consider.” February, 2014
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) Now:
“This decision to bring Sgt. Bergdahl home – and we applaud that he is home – is ill-founded … it is a mistake, and it is putting the lives of American servicemen and women at risk. And that to me is unacceptable.” June, 2014
WPTV-Kelly-Ayotte_20131016105508_320_240.jpg

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) Then:
“As part of ongoing efforts to urge the Department of Defense to do all it can to find Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl and bring him home safely, Senator Ayotte worked successfully to include a provision in the bill that presses Pakistan to fully cooperate in the search for SGT Bergdahl.” May, 2014
Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) Now:
“With 29 percent of former Guantanamo detainees having reengaged or being suspected of reengaging in terrorism, the administration’s decision to release these five terrorist detainees endangers U.S. national security interests. It also sets a precedent that could encourage our enemies to capture more Americans in order to gain concessions from our government.” June, 2014
Jim-Inhofe-Republican-sen-010.jpg

Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) Then:
“The mission to bring our missing soldiers home is one that will never end. It’s important that we make every effort to bring this captured soldier home to his family.” June, 2013
Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) Now:
“Well, my response is the president knew fell and well that these are the highest ranking Taliban people in captivity. And that’s the issue. It wouldn’t make any difference who Bergdahl was. [...] So they should have turned Hitler loose and that would have been the end of the war. No, that’s on his face, it didn’t pass the smell test.” June, 2014
jimhoft-thumb-250x290.jpg

Gateway Pundit Jim Hoft Then:
Horrible. Obama to Leave US POW to Rot in Afghanistan After Withdrawal
Sgt. Bowe Robert Bergdahl was captured by the Taliban in 2009 in Afghanistan. Four months ago, his family in Idaho received a letter from their son through the Red Cross. He was still alive. But sadly it looks like Barack Obama is going to leave US POW Sgt. Bowe Robert Bergdahl behind.
Gateway Pundit Jim Hoft Now:
Figures. Obama Administration Promoted Bergdahl to Sergeant After He Reportedly Joined Taliban
In August 2010, the media reported that Private Bowe Bergdahl had joined the Taliban and was training jihadists on bomb-making techniques.
malkin.jpg

Michelle Malkin Then:
“My prayers are with the family of Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier seen on the Taliban abduction video released this weekend. The Jawa Report has the full clip. All Americans should hope and pray for his release from jihadi custody.” July, 2009
Michelle Malkin Now:
“Bergdahl is still scheduled for a promotion. For those who served with Bergdahl, I can only imagine this feels like a slap in the face. Many believe the move, and subsequent WH Rose Garden announcement, was timed to knock the VA scandal — a slap in the face to America’s veterans — out of the headlines. A cruel irony if true.” June, 2014
ollie_north.jpg

Oliver North Then:
“Today, I received from the National League of POW/MIA Families, a “Never Forget Bracelet” emblazoned with the name of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. He was seized on June 30, 2009 in Afghanistan and is being held by the Haqqani Organization – a Taliban afilliated terrorist group – in northwest Pakistan. Sgt Bergdahl and his loved ones here at home deserve our prayers and encouragement until he is rescued or released. That’s what we do. We’re Americans.” November, 2011
Oliver North Now:
“Someone paid a ransom. Whether the Qataries paid it, or some big oil sheik, or somebody used our petrodollars, but there was a ransom paid in cash for each one of them, my guess somewhere in the round numbers of $5 or 6 million to get Bergdahl freed. I know that the offer that was on the table before was close to a million.” June, 2014
rich_nugent1.jpg

Rep. Rich Nugent (R-FL) Then:
“Last year, on the fourth anniversary of Sgt. Bergdahl’s capture, on the floor of the House of Representatives, I introduced a resolution in the House calling on the United States to do everything possible not to leave any members of the armed forces behind during the drawdown of Iraq and Afghanistan. Believe it or not, I had members of Congress come up to me and say, ‘I didn’t know we had a living POW in Afghanistan.’ That was shocking to me.” February, 2014
Rep. Rich Nugent (R-FL) Now:
“But what angers me so much about this situation is that knowing full well that there was strong opposition to a prisoner swap in Congress, the Administration decided to go behind our backs and release the detainees without the notification required by law.” June, 2014
Flip… flop… flip… flop…
Secondly, not all politicians run their social media the same way. I was perfectly clear when I said that a lot of politicians have a staffer who runs their social media.
That's a bullshit talking point. If a politician posts something under their name with the official permission of that politician as a press statement, social media post, whatever. they are responsible for the content. Don't evade responsibility. I thought the republicans are the party of personal responsibility. I guess only when it suits them.

Remember Anthony Weiner?

I've answered your questions, yet you cannot give me your opinion about the situation without playing the "gotcha" game.

Lets take party loyalty out of this.
You didn't answer my question. You gave me excuses, typical. Why the flip flop on you side?

Gotcha is an excuse when you have been caught in hypocrisy. The fact that you and the republicans are labeling it a scandal when it's a made up political talking point proves you are playing politics.

What do I think about it? If Bergdahl is a deserter and he broke any military code, once he is back home, court martial him. You don't leave any soldier behind!

You and the right are insinuating that President Obama made some incompetent decision by exchanging him for the prisoners at Guantanamo.

I say the entire 911 response was handled wrong by GW and Cheney. Guantanamo needs to be shut down, those imprisoned should be either tried or released.

President Obama is doing the correct thing, winding down the Bush/Cheny wars and shifting our focus from knee jerk military responses to international crises and toward economic and political sanctions when they warrant. It's working in the Ukraine situation. For sure if the military needs to be called up, he has shown he will do it, but this permanent war footing is insane.

Obama to free Gitmo terrorist ‘because he took up yoga’

Obama to free Gitmo terrorist ‘because he took up yoga’
reported by this rag! nypost:angry:

gitmo.jpg

Detainees in orange jumpsuits sit in a holding area under the eyes of military police during in-processing to the temporary detention facility at Camp X-Ray of Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay.

If you thought President Obama’s release of five top Taliban commanders in exchange for POW Bowe Bergdahl was bad, wait until you see what his Gitmo parole board plans.

Desperate to empty the Guantanamo Bay prison by the end of his term, Obama quietly is giving “get out of jail free” cards for the flimsiest of excuses.

One al Qaeda suspect captured in Afghanistan is considered reformed because he took up yoga and read a biography of the Dalai Lama. Another is eligible for release because of his “positive attitude.”

And one longtime detainee, a former bodyguard for Osama bin Laden, is now harmless because he’s going to start a “milk and honey farm.”

The Periodic Review Board already helped clear 78 of the remaining 149 prisoners for release, documents show, and has scheduled more hearings for this summer.

Many of these men were dubbed “forever prisoners” because of the threat they posed to the US — with intelligence officials warning that, if free, they would return to the jihad to kill Americans.

Based on past cases, that’s a good bet.

In a report on detainee recidivism, Obama’s own director of national intelligence this year documented that 178, or 29 percent, of the 614 prisoners already transferred from the prison have been confirmed to have, or are suspected of having, re-engaged in terrorism.

That means for every three freed from Gitmo, one has rejoined the war against us. Intelligence analysts admit their ability to track all former detainees is limited, so the recidivism rate may, in fact, be much higher.

One notorious recidivist, Abdullah Gulam Rasoul, became the Taliban’s operations commander in southern Afghanistan soon after his 2007 release from Gitmo. He was blamed for masterminding a surge in roadside attacks against American troops and organizing assaults on US aircraft in Afghanistan.

Another repeat terrorist is Said Ali al-Shihri, who after his 2007 release ran al Qaeda’s Yemeni branch and helped plan the deadly bombing of the US Embassy there.

Already, one of the five Taliban leaders freed last week in exchange for Bergdahl — Mullah Noorullah Noori — has pledged to return to fight Americans in Afghanistan.

Obama’s terrorist parole board was established in 2011. He appoints its members — officials from the Justice Department, Pentagon, State Department and Homeland Security — without a congressional confirmation process. It is secretive and lacking in accountability.

In setting up the Periodic Review Board, meanwhile, Obama prohibited members from relying on information that has been obtained as a result of “cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment (in order) to support a determination that continued law of war detention is warranted for a detainee.”

The bias against interrogation evidence potentially opens up the release of some of Gitmo’s hardest cases, including al Qaeda leader Abu Zubaydah, 2002 Bali bombing mastermind “Hambali,” and Mohammed al-Qahtani, the suspected 20th hijacker of the 9/11 attacks.

But these releases won’t cause the same outcry, because it’s being done in virtual secrecy. Already, more than 600 prisoners have been transferred out of Gitmo with little fanfare. Two hundred of them were sent back to Afghanistan.

As defense lawyer David Remes explained to Al Jazeera news network, “The Periodic Review Board is likely to be predisposed to approval to transfer because the idea here is to close down Guantanamo.”

The inmates slated for release include:

Ghaleb Nasser al-Bihani

“He loves yoga”

What he did: Classified as an “indefinite detainee” in 2010 because of the danger he posed to the US. The Yemeni national was captured in 2001 fighting in Afghanistan. The military said he was a troublemaker while in custody, even inciting riots. He was uncooperative in interviews, showing “ill intentions toward the US.” One of his brothers in Yemen is a leader in al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the terror group’s most lethal branch.

What they say now: His government-appointed lawyer argued he was merely an assistant cook for an unspecified military group. “He has asked for yoga magazines and self-help books,” lawyer Pardiss Kebriaei told the parole board in April, noting he practices yoga in his cellblock and has read biographies of the Dalai Lama and Martin Luther King Jr.

In his own plea to the board, Bihani suggested his hostility comes from losing his parents as a boy, saying, “It was hard growing up without a mother or father.” He promised to start a family and live a peaceful life if freed. “I look forward to the day when I can hold my baby in my hands,” he said. Last month, the board said it found his story “credible” and declared al-Bihani “no longer…a threat to the security of the United States.”

“Wants a milk & honey farm”

What he did: Served as Osama bin Laden’s bodyguard and was captured after 9/11. The military warns that, if freed, he would likely hook up in Yemen with his brother, “another former bin Laden bodyguard.”

Without explanation, the board blacked out a large section of Mujahid’s testimony dealing with al Qaeda.

What they say now: “Mujahid is a peacemaker,” his lawyer David Remes insisted, adding he “requires no rehabilitation when he returns.”

Mujahid called a character witness — another detainee — who testified that Mujahid had told him he wants to start a “milk and honey farm” in Yemen.

In November, the board cleared Mujahid for release, reasoning he would maintain his good behavior through “extensive family support in Yemen.” Panelists were impressed with his personal statement that, while growing up, “in our household, we were taught politeness, decency and human being [sic].”

What he did: Served as an Osama bin Laden bodyguard. There’s evidence he wrote to his family boasting of his commitment to jihad. The military cautioned officials against believing that “his stated intentions are genuine.”

Curiously, the board withheld Razihi’s written testimony and hearing transcript.

What they say now: In taking him off the threat list, the board cited his “positive attitude.” His personal representative convinced board members that Razihi “has keen business acumen” and seeks to take over the family’s “fruit and vegetable business” in Yemen.

Added the unnamed government advocate: “He’s ready to live out the rest of his days as a peaceful man, a family man and an entrepreneur, and no longer should be considered a continued significant threat to the United States.”

How the Taliban got their hands on modern US missiles

stinger1.jpg

The Obama administration isn’t only giving the Taliban back its commanders — it’s giving them weapons.

Miliary records and sources reveal that on July 25, 2012, Taliban fighters in Kunar province successfully targeted a US Army CH-47 helicopter with a new generation Stinger missile.

They thought they had a surefire kill. But instead of bursting into flames, the Chinook just disappeared into the darkness as the American pilot recovered control of the aircraft and brought it to the ground in a hard landing.

The assault team jumped out the open doors and ran clear in case it exploded. Less than 30 seconds later, the Taliban gunner and his comrade erupted into flames as an American gunship overhead locked onto their position and opened fire.

The next day, an explosive ordnance disposal team arrived to pick through the wreckage and found unexploded pieces of a missile casing that could only belong to a Stinger missile.

Lodged in the right nacelle, they found one fragment that contained an entire serial number.

The investigation took time. Arms were twisted, noses put out of joint. But when the results came back, they were stunning: The Stinger tracked back to a lot that had been signed out by the CIA recently, not during the anti-Soviet *jihad.

Reports of the Stinger reached the highest echelons of the US command in Afghanistan and became a source of intense speculation, but no action.

Everyone knew the war was winding down. Revealing that the Taliban had US-made Stingers risked demoralizing coalition troops. Because there were no coalition casualties, government officials made no public announcement of the attack.

My sources in the US Special Operations community believe the Stinger fired against the Chinook was part of the same lot the CIA turned over to the *Qataris in early 2011, weapons Hillary Rodham Clinton’s State Department intended for anti-Khadafy forces in Libya.

They believe the Qataris delivered between 50 and 60 of those same Stingers to the Taliban in early 2012, and an additional 200 SA-24 Igla-S surface-to-air missiles.

Qatar now is expected to hold five Taliban commanders released from Guantanamo for a year before allowing them to go to Afghanistan.

But if we can’t trust the Qataris not to give our weapons to the Taliban, how can we trust them with this?

SURPRISE! Bowe Bergdahl’s Father is a Registered Republican

Republicans have been spending quite a bit of time attempting to hurt President Obama with their attempts to somehow expose the President as a traitor for his decision to trade 5 Guantanamo Bay detainees for American POW Bowe Bergdahl–but did you know they have been eating their own?

The Daily Beast reports that in June 2010 Robert Bergdahl, Bowe’s father, gave a speech at an Idaho Republican Party fundraiser. Bergdahl asked the gathered conservative masses to show compassion for his son’s captors, and claimed that a United States drone strike had killed the children of one of the men responsible for his son’s imprisonment.

From the Beast:
“I grew up in a conservative family in Los Angeles,” he said with a smile. “My father was for Goldwater. He wore a Nixon button in our liberal Jewish neighborhood. I was the lone U.C. Santa Barbara surfer who voted for Ronald Reagan.” Many in the audience nodded in approval, and then Bergdahl talked about the work of retrieving his son.

His contacts in the Pentagon had assured them that Bowe’s safety was an absolute priority. “Everything that can be done has been done. I have [then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff] Admiral [Mike] Mullen’s cell phone number on me right now.”

Several people in the room began to cry. Then Bergdahl turned his attention to his son’s captors, and his speech veered into the complexities and humanism that, four years later to the week, have confounded the American media and made his private thoughts a national speculation.

“The man who we believe holds Bowe grew up on the lap of his mother learning the Koran. He is a powerful man,” Bergdahl said. “We pray for him. He recently lost a son to a CIA missile drone strike. The fact that he didn’t kill Bowe right then is incredible. So we pray for him.”

This was not idle speculation; Bowe Bergdahl was believed to be held by the militants of the Haqqani Network. In the winter of 2010, several members of the Haqqani family were alleged killed in drone strikes.”

Of course, since Bergdahl is a convenient political tool, right-wing claims that he is a Muslim
(he’s a Christian)–that he has turned–will not cease. The bottom line is that they think it might hurt President Obama if they continue to demonize this man–who has been through hell–and have no concern who they hurt in the process.

Halderman, Erlichman, Mitchell and Dean.
It runs in pattern, if you see what I mean.

Fast & Furious, IRS, Benghazi & Bergdahl.
The pattern now is wished-for scandal.

There have been several diaries about this ok dkos. The ones I remember the most were these:

McCain, other Republicans called for Obama to get Bergdahl's release, then condemned it

John McCain flip-flops on Bowe Bergdahl, then lies about it John McCain has no integrity at all anymore. I'm so glad he wasn't elected president.

Even the NYT took the GOP to task over this. There is a link to the editorial in the diary:

U.S. military appoints general to probe Bergdahl disappearance

The U.S. military has appointed a two-star general to investigate the circumstances under
which Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier recently freed after five years in Taliban captivity,
disappeared in eastern Afghanistan in 2009, a U.S. official said on Sunday.

A defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the general had been appointed
to conduct the army investigation of Sergeant Bergdahl's June 2009 disappearance and cap-
ture, but said the probe had not yet begun.
