Thinking about buying a pre-owned Rolex from Overstock.com

$4,000 on a watch???

 do you man... but there's a LOT more other shit i'd choose to do with that type of disposable cash.

to each his own. post pix so we can see it.

First, you have to be careful about exhibiting success on BGOL. There's a group of "practical" people who will say you should just use the clock on your phone and then get mad at you because you don't need to save as hard as they have to.

Second, I love Rolexes and they are better purchases than cars. A rolex will hold its value anywhere in the world.

Third, if you must stay at or under $4000, go ahead and get the all time classic datejust two tone with the white or black dial. Yes, the yellow part is real gold. The date just is the best dress watch ever. Wear that shit with a dress shirt and cufflinks and it's over.

I have a preference for those with the Arabic or Roman numerals numerals on it.

****Edit. I wasn't quick enough. They invaded the thread already:lol:

ask me what time it is even if i am wearing a watch and i look at my phone..

that's a great investment dog....yeah they use real gold

Oh yes, Overstock is ok, but you might luck out better on Ebay. There are some damn good dealers on Ebay with great deals. I bought my recent watch from an authorized dealer in Mexico where it was cheaper.

Just to give you an idea. I bought my first Rolex for $5k in 2005 and I can easily sell it today for $7500 at least.

If you are a younger guy, under 35, let me suggest a watch with a white gold fluted bezel like this one:

Good idea or bad idea?

The one I'm thinking about buying cost about $4,000.

But I have a couple of questions for people who know about Rolex's.

1.)Are all the gold colored parts real gold.

2.)How well do they hold their value?

Yes, a gold Rolex is real gold.

Yes they hold some value, watches should not be bought for an investment. Not unless you got A wholesale hookup.

I hear the Rolex is the most counterfeited watch in the world. So ordering from Ebay or a foreign country would concern me. I'll probably order from Overstock if I go pre-owned unless someone gives a better option.

But anyway are you saying that the wristband is made of real gold also?

I said I bought mine from an authorized dealer in Cancun when I was on vacation.

Buying from a reputable ebay dealer is safe and they give you a short return period.

Any yellow part on a modern rolex is real gold.

I bought Tag Heuer Carrera abt 4 yrs ago and spent almost 5k on it

4 yrs down the line I wish I could have invested the money by buying some stocks on the cheap then

do I regret no, have I learned my lesson yes.

personal advise, invest that money to make money

Ironically I'm using money I made from stock investments to buy it.

Investing in stocks is risky as hell and I routinely lose or make $4,000+ daily. After you make a lot of money then what?!?!

I need and want a watch. So... :dunno:

They say u gotta spend at least 10k to get a quality expensive watch
So take ya time looking cause u need a good deal

I own a Rolex Presidential and Gave a Rolex Submariner to my cousin.

One of the best watches in the world, Always holds value.

I bought my submariner for $4800 in 2007. Now its worth about $7000 on ebay

I'm going to buy a nice watch on my next birthday. Rolex or Breitling.:yes:

I purchased a 50th anniversary submariner for 3500 a few years back and now I could sell it for close to 9000 not a bad investment

A lot of you guys are bullshitting in this thread...I'll leave it at that....I've brought several genuine rolexes on eBay...they w ere all legit and authenticated through jewelers and my own means....now I suggest you do not use cash to purchase a watch...a lot easier to dispute a fraudulent purchase using credit....me and jagu have talked before about watches ...I have a decent little collection...anyhow watchuseek forums is your best friend when researching about watches...there are other brands besides Rolex out there that make great watches...iwc...patek phillipe....panerai...vacheron Constantine....audemar piguet...zenith...omega...Richard mille...hublot...Cartier(I believe ap manufactures their watches).....etc expand your horizons....Rolex is bullet proof when taken care of....one of my rolexes is over 50 years old...my other Rolex before I sold it was over 33 years old...they both look brand new

My wife bought 2 watches for me for our wedding. One of them was a Zenith. A very, very fine watch. May still cop a Rolex. She bought it in Jamaica I checked in NYC and it sold for more than $10,000.

Do you Bruh... I had a fake one in the 80's and was robed at gun point for it and have not worn a watch from that day.

I have 4 grand, but I ain't got 4 grand for no damn watch.

Even if I won the lottery for $80 mill, I probably still wouldn't buy a Rolex.

If it won't break you , buy it. The good hing with rolex is that you can sell it for exactly what you paid for it.

Don't do it. You can buy a 98 maxima and some new seat covers with that.
