You always make unrealistic statements. This store employed dozens of locals giving jobs and donated money to local schools and the community. When places like this leave they take jobs with them hurting Black people. Statements like we need more Black owned businesses there are just talking points to sound good . Then why don’t you go start something there instead of waiting on somebody else.

Watts is the hood this is not their community. This store employs Black people. The riot and loot in cac areas pertains to backlash to Abuse because of the aftermath of injustice. This is just random theft and damage for no reason other than to be a thief.

Nike is a large corporation, that makes large sums of money selling goods to black people. My guess is that to a large extent they are self-insured, and if not, they will absorb a premium increase, which is near certain to occur and cut into that particular location’s margin. Nike has also shown a greater sensitivity to some unique issues black people face in American society at large, and has endured criticism from a significant element of said society for doing it. I’d bet Nike executives took a calculated risk that it would be profitable to appear as though they’re doing the right thing in the eyes of black people. So, they’ll continue to cope with and adapt to these types of events for as long as their math tells them its worth it.

Put something productive and make better paying jobs and programs so people won't have to steal.

Not necessarily true.. prior to Covid you didn’t hear about mobs of people stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars of merchandise all at once in stores in Harlem, Bronx, etc in predominantly black neighborhoods. These modern day flash mobs started right around Covid / George Floyd protest. ( I even posted a vid showing when these mass thefts started in nyc).. they were specific areas and been specific areas since.. mostly white neighborhoods with big chains.. they are specific for a reason.. so these same people weren’t doing it in 2019 and prior and these same aren’t gunning for lot of other areas…. But we are also seeing regular folks in those areas getting caught the fuck up too. So much like the stores, regular ivory tower folks now getting the business in places they didn't before. Plenty of videos showing folks getting fucked up in areas that didn't have problems before.
Much like the stores ain't prepared, ivory tower folks in those areas ain't ready either. They less likely to be armed and walk around totally oblivious to their surroundings. It's like candy from a baby.

Insurance or no insurance, they'll adjust and move on until their financial analysis indicates that its no longer worthwhile to appease and market to us. You may not know it, but businesses raise prices regardless, even in the absence of higher cost. They do it to enhance their profits, and in the apparel industry they do it just to make their products appear more exclusive. Of course I've had valuables stolen, but I can still be objective.

On that front you aren't completely wrong. However, it takes an other couple levels of crazy to break into people's homes or rob them on the street where the outcome is much less certain. These people here are just foolish enough to risk a broad daylight, flash mob heist with or without understanding that chances are high they'll be caught. Still, if cornered, a foolish, desperate person is prone to resort to even worse behavior, such as wild gun fire to make an escape. Those type of stray bullets will have all kinds of folks questioning their religion.
This stufff happening has a trickle down effect on the surrounding areas premiums. So it's not just Nike that's affected if premiums go up, yeah they maybe able to absorb it but smaller businesses will have issues.
Dude tho there are other companies, those other companies are looking at that area & assessing the same threats. Nike won't just be able to move that easily, another company isn't going to want to potentially deal with those same payouts. So Nike would likely pay around the same no matter what company they went to.
Not saying they all going to wind up fucked up, but people who give into peer pressure, follow the crowd, and are willing to risk their future for a few material goods that aren't even worth that much, are more likely to partake in other foolish crimes, senseless violence and murder.
I got at you harshly because too many of our people tend to sweep their actions under the rug, almost normalizing it, by saying exactly what you said, "they are rich, they can afford it", but the point isn't about whether or not they can afford it, its about right and wrong, something that many of our children grow up not fully understanding mainly because their elders are not teaching them correctly.
Well if you are a small black-owned business chances are your insurance will be off the roof due to dumb shit like this, remember everyone in the area rates are affected by these types of crimes, and chances are the smaller your business is (or less you have to pay for security measures) the higher your rates will be.
So while Nike may be able to afford these high rates, chances are a smaller store will be forced to cut corners, and when they get hit, it will be ten times more devastating.
