You do know that they used to burn homosexuals as penance right?
And that "faggot" is literally "a bundle of sticks used a kindling," right?

And when we refer to Slavery and the Middle Passage as the African Holocaust, is that "usurp[ing] the blood and pain" of the far more recent death of millions of Jewish folk? Your pain isn't holy. We all feel it....its a human condition.

Stop with this "we" and "we" and then "your"

Why can't you not pretend to be black????
:smh:

What, you think that black people are so shallow that they can't separate loyalty from bullshit?????

Apparently Shirley Q Liquor has been running this same racist shtick for years virtually unchecked by the suddenly self-righteous fags of America....disgusting.

So, if when I changed my avatar last week, I had picked a Murs or Lif LP, then you would have an actual rebuttal here instead of another road-worn BGOL blacker-than-thou-ism?

How stupid does a nigga in Hollywood have to be to gratuitously insult the gays? Next, in his bid to never work again, this idiot will start popping off about the Jews.

3 Pronouns...lets see what half-assin a English B.A. @ Morehouse has left me with...

1) "...when we refer to Slavery..." I'm talkin about "we" as black folks. Because generally it is "we" who refer to slavery as an African Holocaust (rightly so IMO).

2) "Your pain isn't holy" I'm talkin about YOU, and anyone else who thinks their pain is holy, transcending the truth of other peoples pain.

3)"We all feel it...its a human condition." Guess. That's right....this "we" refers to all of humanity. "We" all feel pain. This "we" includes homosexuals who are hurt by the term faggot. It may not offend "you", but if "you" have a problem with other gendered, racial or religious epithets than "you're" a hypocrite.

And on a serious note, "y'all" gotta really move past all this "You must be white or a sell-out if you don't agree with me" bullshit. It makes you look stupid. Its the ultimate no argument. Just like all the conservative morons who call anybody critical of the government "Anti-American." It just makes you sound stupid. As if being critical of someone in the group makes you an outsider to the group. You lose nearly all credibility in the argument, and that is not a good look if you are actually trying to win over someone you disagree with.

yall cant get mad at kramer an then side with this dude....one thing tho is they are making this shit bigger than it is but dude still said some fucked up shit.an why that fat bitch rosie gotta be up in everything .they need to get her ass off the air she talk too fucking much

Do you think "faggot" is even an epithet?
or just a valid descriptor?...

Again, not coequal.

What the fuck do Jews in mid 20th century Europe have to do with the United States brutalizing Africans. My 88 year old dad, his brother's, my mother's brothers, my mother and my aunts all worked and served in the US armed services to free Jews from the death camps during WWII. Yet when my dad and his brothers return to their homeland of at least 200 years of ancestry, they could not fully enjoy the rights they gave others. Did you know that prior to the civil war, there were more Jews in South Carolina than in New York? Black people have always given to better other people, yet those that have benefited from our toil say we should be thankful. No, you need to be grateful for the day that the first freighted West African was kidnapped and brought to these shores, because that West African and their ancestors gave this world a gift it can never repay!

 I'm just fuckin' wit ya, fam. Let me be clear...

I'm not defending Isaiah Wasginton calling TR Knight a faggot. What I'm saying is that other than TR Knights accusation, there's no other firm evidence that Washington actually called him a faggot. And I'm not willing to burn the man at the stake for using the word 'fagoot' while denying calling TR Knight a faggot. That's absurd.

A man's career and reputation should not be destroyed over 3rd party 'hear say' and hypersensitivity. If this whole ordeal was about Washington choking out Patrick Dempsey, I'd be all for him being fired. You just can't choke the shit outta your co-worker, no matter how much they piss you off. Instead NO attention is being paid to a physical act of violence against the straight man... these people want Washington's head on a stick because of one word that was alleged spoken one time in reference to the gay man? A claim which not one single solitary cast or crew member has stepped up to support on TR Knight's behalf. GTFOH! This whole controversy is a red herring, bro. I'm not even going to discuss Michael Richrds in the same context as Isaiah Washington, because in doing so I would be validating a likeness that does not apply nor exist, for that matter.

And FYI, enough already with the faggot vs nigger comparison, dude. No one knew TR Knight was gay until he came out. Thus he had the option to deal with homophobia directly or not (and he'd chosen not to up until he was outed). Isaiah Washington doesn't have the luxury of opting out of his Blackness, until it's convenient for him to come out. He's Black for all the world to see whether he likes it or not. Thus he has to deal with racism, whether he likes it or not 24/7. No comparison.

You make great arguments and I respect your poise under pressure, but your a bit misguided with this one. You're saying the right thing for the wrong reason. Good points anyway, though.

:smh: I don't play the who-is-the-most-oppressed game; it's both pointless and demeaning. But from your response, I gather that you only half-read (if that) what I wrote anyway. The point is that we all co-opt successful strategies and talking points from other groups if it can help further our agenda. There isn't a perfect correlation between anti-gay discrimination and anti-black (or anti-women) discrimination for various reasons. But if you're gay in America, and trying to expand the civil rights of your group.....what analogs do you look to for blueprints???...the Anti-Chinese discrimination of postwar Japan!?!?!?

Of course not...the gay protesters borrow from and compare their struggle to the other civil rights movements in America. You call that a "usurpation" and "blood sucking" of black pain. OK. If that is the case then so are the frequent and fervent comparisons of Blacks trials with those of Jews. "African Holocaust" t-shirts do the same shit. The "never again" mantra of Jewish survivors has always been latched on to by black activists as a preferred model for our attitude towards the trials of black folks in America.

The phenomenon you lament is unavoidable.

The Jews got, are getting and will get compensation for their "pain". The US was and is one of the nations at the forefront of making that happen. When enslaved people of African decent wanted compensation for there "pain" at the legally sanctioned hands of the Untied States government at the end of the civil war they got the freeman's bureau and that was shut down when the North (union) lost their resolve and capitulated to the confederates. The individual laws suites were delayed until the last former slave died. What happened? Almost 100 years of terror and segregation called Jim Crow Laws. Now we are giving American lives for the protection of Israel. Yes, they have hijacked our cause and they are the ones mainly perpetuating the negative stereotypes about Black people. Who owns MTV, BET and the record companies?

I gotcha homey. I do appreciate the thoughtful response.

I'd never heard about the "faggot" issue w/ Isaiah until this thread. So my introduction to the issue is a bunch of folks on complaining about how white fags have gone too far this time, by calling someone out for Homophobia with little evidence. (While, for right or wrong, we do the same shit often). Then came the apology. Don't apologize for shit you didn't do. Washington fucked up....and made it worse on himself.

We live in a racist world...so any hint of public racism gets jumped on. We also live in a homophobic world. And while I know that many folks think that this is a good thing, politically active homosexuals don't, and following the success of our having shamed open racism, now jump on any hint of public homophobia in an effort to do the same. This is political, not personal.

Dude shouldn't be fired for shit. It an overreaction to whatever he may or may not have done. But the whole campaign isn't even about him. Anymore than our beef with a particular allegedly "racist" person or remark, isn't about that specific person or incident. "Faggot" is such a charged term to homosexual activists that getting just a whiff of it in the mainstream sets em off. They are overreacting to this incident, but not to the general homophobic tone of American discourse. This is just one battle that they can wage visibly in an attempt to raise awareness of a problem as they see it. And, yes, when we narrow our focus to the case of Isaiah Washington and whatever he may have said as an individual, the calls for his job w/o real evidence does betray a hypersensitivity on behalf of the gay community.

It seems to me, though, that we all suffer from that hypersensitivity in turn. Gayness doesn't have to equal blackness, and faggot doesn't have to equal nigger for overreactions to equal overreactions. This entire thread seems ironic in that regard.
