These Fucking Kids, Man! Why Even Bother???

Thirteen is too old to BEGIN getting serious about ANY sport. This was over before it started.

What age did Tim Duncan get serious about basketball?

not only that Duncan was always involved in athletics and was a championship swimmer..

but you ever notice mofokrs always looking for the exception ?

If you said most rainy days are cloudy these mofokrs will write a paragraph about a sunshower.

:smh::smh::smh::smh:

You'd have a valid point.... If the mofokr said "most." :hmm:

Dude is far behind, but I told him that the NBA, while not impossible, would've been a really, really long shot. Of course, you can't predict major growth spurts, or incredible leaps in development.

You killed his dream right there before he started..........

:smh::smh::smh:

Mofos want to help but the wrong shit comes out your mouth.

Every excellent human being has similar odds in every field.

Engineering? Same shit

Programming? Same shit

Author? Same shit

Physician? Same shit

You killed this kids dream before it started.

It could have been a lesson on hard work and giving your best, a bonding moment, a mentoring moment that would take him through life.

Sometimes it not all about WHAT you do but HOW you do it.

You failed.

Man, stay the fuck out of my threads.

You always come in with some overly critical shit.

I don't need your input on a damn thing.

Ironically that is what that boy's mother told you but in a polite way.

Taking about "really really long shot", overly critical shit

See how you felt about that?

Touche!

Eat your humble pie and admit you fucked up and stop your bloodclot crying!

I feel your pain.

It happened to me a few times with my daughter till I learned to make her invest in her own ideas.

When you really want something you will do whatever it takes to get on your path. Make sure they invest time, sweat or money before you do.

Once a friend's kid asked me to help her with money for college. Knowing her and her worthless mother very well I agreed to help her. The deal is simple -- I'm not paying for school but I will help by matching every dollar she got with two dollars for when she is ready to register for class.

It didn't cost me a dime:lol:

And I got some ass off her Mom for "helping".

This post is the wisest post in this thread. OP tried, but he obviously doesn't have kids.

SupremeExtremist had that boy out there on that 10k jumpshots a day plan, knees going to be fucked up before he can even drive a car. :smh:

You couldn't just take him to a basketball court at the park? You bought a backboard/goal? That's extreme.

I can admit to some level of over-eagerness.

He seemed so serious when I made him promise his mother and I. You would've had to have been there. I stressed to him many times that basketball would require more dedication than he's accustomed to giving if he really wanted to go somewhere with it.

Because I know kids, I would dismiss him saying he was serious in the past. However, he started begging me to help him. I caved. I gave him a long speech, and then made him promise his mother and I...

...after THAT, I figured he was serious, and that was it.

It didn't seem like much of a gamble.

Most kids don't BEG someone to train them.

They ALL beg. Whatever they want at that moment is the only thing in life they'll ever want ... In their heads.

I've said it a no. of times in this thread, but there are NO courts/parks nearby, believe it or not. He lives in the country.

Also, I wanted to make sure he had everything he needed to practice when I'm not there/no longer there.

lmaooo You woman hating motherfucker.

big

You think you're going to play high level college ball or make it to the NBA without working extremely hard, UNLESS you're freakishly talented?

This kid is not what I consider to be talented, and even if he was, I still wouldn't have taken it easy...

...and I told him that his lack of height and exceptional talent would have to be supplemented by monastic devotion and discipline to basketball. There is no other way. It's still not a guarantee...

...but he would've had a lot better chance doing it my way, then just shooting around in the yard for thirty minutes to an hour, with no structure; no drills; and no work on conditioning.

...and guess whose mother called me on the way to work this morning talking about he said he wish he didn't quit?

I read that Kevin Durant's briefly quit on the man who trained him as a youngster.

If I take him back on, we're going to have to have a 'Hell Day' to test his resolve. Best to do that now, to save both of us from wasting our time.

That's if he calls back. I told his mother to tell him, if he thinks he's serious this time, tell him to call me.

So, we'll see.

Now I'm calling BS...

Who would really go back into the fire like that? And they aren't your kid?! That's like going back to an ex who said they got tired of you, then they say "Oh, I was on my period, my hormones were out of whack."

That's the boy's mom on the left and SupremeExtremist on the right.

The clip is of the last group of kids SE took on as a mentor:

...funny how I'm known for all of my moving threads, but not for my all of my threads that suggest an obsession with creating a child/sports prodigy capable of going pro.

I laugh at the things that make people lash out and call you a liar, and it's always the same few buttons you can press that causes it.

The irony is that you sound like a 13 yr old whining on the Internet lol. At least he knows he's 13. Why not just force him to go?

Is this supposed to be the test run for your actual children, SupremeExtremist?

...well, look at it this way, I'm going to make some mistakes starting out, but it's not as if anyone else was going to help. I know a lot, but I need to know more...

...and I plan to be ultra polished by the time I have my children.

Experimenting with other people's children!

Applaud his ass!

My cousin swore on a Bible that he wanted to work towards playing college basketball, and if it works out, play in the NBA. Mind you, he's 13, not that tall, not overly talented or athletic. I was willing to overlook all of that, because he told me so many times that he wanted me to work with him, and I told him I didn't want to waste my time, because he wasn't serious. He begged me to help, and I caved in.

I told him that if he is willing to do what I tell him, I could make him a standout player in his area, easily.

I went out and purchased a qoal with a glass backboard. That shit was not fucking cheap. Got him TWO NBA balls, and some gear to workout in. I made him swear to me and his mother that he would stick with it, and practice hard.

We were supposed to train yesterday, but his mother said he was sick. I didn't think anything of it, so I let it go. Today, I called to see how he was doing and his mother, all casual and shit said, 'He doesn't want to play basketball anymore'.

I was like, 'What? Are you telling me he made me buy all of that stuff, and he threw his goal away after ONE DAY???'

She got defensive and said he needs to focus on his education, and basketball was a waste of time.

We exchanged a few heated words, and I told her that I'm coming to take all of my shit back. I bought this dude so much stuff...

...and he just flaked out on me completely after one fucking session. ONE FUCKING SESSION AFTER ALL THAT SHIT HE TALKED!

How the fuck do you quit after the first fucking day?

We're raising a nation of bitches!!!

He'll look back and remember this and sadly either regret not trying or worse blame you for letting him be "dumb 13 year old", either way, you will be remembered.

SupremeExtremist, I appreciate your sincere effort and willingness to help your cousin achieve his goals. God bless you man, your heart and intentions were in the right place.
