THE WRESTLING THREAD: HHH KEEPS DOING HHH THINGS.....

[c_commander]

I honestly think Miz should be allowed to headline Mania. He is undoubtedly the biggest heel in the business right now and thus far he has been a strong champion.

And if they take the title off him now they'll have to bury his push in order to build up a new WWE title feud for Mania. Why bury the guy, let him keep the title for now and drop it to a face character at Mania.

Not necessarily.I consider the Elimination Chamber a cheat because he could lose the title there without him blatantly jobbing and actually come out of it looking strong depending on the circumstances.Hell the could repeat what they did with Edge a couple of years ago at the Elimination Chamber PPV and it could make sense if it gave us Edge vs. Miz at Mania.

[Upgrade Dave]

I remember hearing something years back that him and Stevie Ray were on the outs.Allegedly he may be back in TNA soon.

I heard both of those, too. Booker's biding his time and going over his options: more money in WWE but a much more lenient schedule in TNA.

At this point, I do too but it would just surprise me if they let him do it. Like commander said, the EC is where they get the title off a guy without burying him. The main event will have a combination of Orton, Cena, HHH (if they settle him and Sheamus at Rumble or EC), and maybe Jericho(haven't heard anything but they are really hurting for main eventers).
Cena's almost definitely going to win the Rumble.

The Pop was HUGE

This shit was major in Charlotte and they treated it like it was major on tv, something they don't do very well consistently now. We were still in shock about Magnum TA and then for Nikita, NIKITA!, to turn was .

I love the internet

Until the internet, the only people who saw this match were the people in Philly and the very few that got a bootleg copy of the match.
NWA fucked themselves up disrespecting Arn and Tully like they did. Arn and Tully vs. the Midnight Express could have been a co main event at Starrcade that year.
As a fan, I remember the feud starting with some great promos and a Horsemen sneak attack on Bobby Eaton and a couple weeks later, the Express were champs. Then a few weeks later, The Brainbusters were on WWF tv.

Yep when JJ got more $ Than Tully and Arn after bash 88 PPV it was a wrap.Yep Cornette was calling em up and then like you wrote Eaton got his ASS WHOOPED Lol. I remember seeing World Championship Wrestling and when they announced it i was like "oh shit". But then Tully and Arn wasn;t on TV for a few weeks and after those two weeks i was like "ah man they are going to the wwf" lol

Even when it looked like they were gone, I still couldn't see them in WWF until they were in WWF. My mind just wouldn't let me do it.
The ass whooping they gave Bobby Eaton, which I don't remember being televised, really seemed to send that feud into another gear. That was the first time I ever heard Bobby talk in an interview.

I think it was televised on syndicated shows. And I hear ya cause most of the talent had a Gimmick. But i couldn't picture them in the AWA/Memphis/WCCW area cause that shit was so messy lol

That was one thing that drove me crazy about Crockett. If you didn't see all the shows, you could miss some really good stuff and they didn't replay stuff like WWE does with the "Raw Rebounds" on every show.

Yeah, Arn and Tully just seemed to fit in the NWA and that's it. They looked mad out of place in WWF. Just like we're worried about what WWE will do to Amazing Kong, it would have bothered me to think of what they might do with Arn and Tully. You see how the Sheepherders changed. I don't think I ever got over that.

You hit the nail on the head on how Vince changed the talent. Like Dick Slater being a redneck babyface, Terry Taylor being the red roster, and hell from being in Barbed Wire cage matches with the fantastics to lickin faces as the bushwhackers. And back to Crockett that drove me nuts also. They would waste time on a whole bunch of squash matches and when it was time for a main event like the superpowers/Road warriors vs the horseman ( when ole was still in the group) they would only show like 3 minutes and that would be it no follow up nothing

Do you know I forgot about Dick Slater being in the WWF? Him being a redneck wasn't the stretch, it was him being a babyface.
That shit when Crockett did it drove me nuts and they did it all the time and never even came back the next week to show you the rest of the match or tell you what happened. Who ever had that bright idea owes millions of people an apology to this day.

Didn't know about that. I thought the wrestling school Booker has down here was started by him and his brother.

Co-sign on that Crockett shit! Me and my boys still talk about how they used to do that to us as kids! I have a buddy who is a wrestling writer (old school) and he told me that many of the Mid Atlantic classic moments are only in our heads because WRAL where they used to tape the shows believed in recycling so much that they TAPED OVER MOST OF THE VIDEOTAPES of CLASSIC Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling. When he told me that shit I almost cried....seriously.

I heard Stevie Ray was running one of Booker's Businesses in Huston. That was a while ago.

Booker may never go back to the WWE they played the dude.
They were doing a talent exchange with his school for years, until HBK came back and they started sending talent to his school and told WWE superstars they couldn't work Booker's shows anymore.
So Booker started using talent from other promotions. that's one of the main reasons he left WWE.

I remember Dory "Hoss" Funk being there because he and Terry had that good Mania match with JYD and Tito Santana. It was one of the few good matches at WrestleMania 2. But Dick, that was just wrong. They got him to hurt somebody else because I know they didn't have any plans for him.

Same thing with Georgia. It's hard to find old Georgia stuff with Tommy Rich, Buzz Sawyer, and Mr. Wrestling II (and the Freebirds, Paul Orndorff, etc) because they reused tapes. Mid South and the WWWF were some of the few that kept that stuff around.

He was on Smackdown last week also, in Teddy's office when he was about to be taken to the hospital.

Damn Natayla is thick. Just give me Natayla & Layla and i'm good. Alicia Fox need to just cut her hair short or just keep it straight because their stylist aren't doing shit for her look.

I've been saying this for months. She's a very hot chick but her hair is so distractingly bad, it's amazing. She needs to stop letting those White girls play in her hair.

But then they all wear too much hair. Why does Natalya have hair extensions? I get Maryse, it's part of her gimmick but damn, all of them?

MORE ON THE TNA-RIC FLAIR INCIDENT IN IRELAND
by Mike Johnson @ 5:17 PM on 1/25/2011

The Ric Flair incident in Dublin, Ireland was said to have been driven by Flair demanding money "in advance" from a member of TNA management. When his request wasn't granted, Flair allegedly tried to play hardball, refusing to get on a bus that was taking the TNA troupe to the airport for their flight. That incident led to a decision being made to leave Flair behind, since he was refusing to get on the plane and this had not been the first instance of similar issues with Flair over the last year.
According to one person I spoke to after we initially wrote about the Flair situation, there were members of the roster in favor of leaving Flair behind due to his outburst and some were mocking him, using his "signature promo lines" after he was left behind.

There was a lot of discussion regarding how much Flair's legendary "partying" on the road during the tour may have factored into his decision to refuse to get on the bus as well.

To clarify something making the rounds, Flair was not sent home from the tour by TNA management. He was simply left behind after refusing to travel following his issue with the member of TNA management. All signs are Flair is still in Europe and he could easily catch up to the troupe in Scotland, if he chooses.

There was no official decision to send him home, just a decision to leave him behind when he had his "blow-up" as opposed to holding up an entire roster of talents waiting to travel internationally.

TNA declined to comment on the Flair situation when contacted by PWInsider.com earlier today.

WTF is wrong with this dude? He's been on a bridge burning campaign since he "retired" at Mania two years ago. First ROH, then Highspots.com, then Greg Price and his Legends FanFest. He can't afford to fuck TNA. He had his whole career to play hardball and he didn't. He can't afford to now.

[kanedagame]

Maybe Flair is having a stroke. Dude is tarnishing his legacy. I heard he pawned the watch HBK gave him after "retiring".

Probably because Vince wants all the divas to look like Sable or some shit. A lot of past and current divas are given the fake boobs and long hair makeover. I guess it's like the equivalent of the roided-up look Vince likes in his male wrestlers.

I'm glad they never convinced Stacy Keibler to get fake boobs, she was probably my favorite diva next to pre-nose job Trish Stratus.

The WWE has this way that they like their divas.Like they seem to want them all to have big titties frequently fake. Apparently that's why Sarita didn't come to the WWE cause they wanted her to get implants and she didn't want to. A definite exception is Alicia Fox and they seem to not emphasize her breasts at all.

Last I saw, he still has that but he did use the old NWA title belt as collateral for two different loans (some illegal shit). My favorite wrestler ever but dude's a fucking mess.

[Upgrade Dave]

Can someone tell me how they expect us to believe in Dolph Ziggler when he's lost to Cena twice, Kofi Kingston, and Randy Orton in the space of three weeks. I got the Kofi lost since he got it right back winning the 4 man match but the rest of the losses are killing his heat. You can't undo that with Vickie screaming and a sneak attack.

Who didn't Melina suckoff? They were building up her heel turn and match with Natalya and she loses first a six Diva match and then she gets beat clean and relatively quick in her one title shot and LayCool gets another ppv payday. Damn. She must have said something nice about Matt Hardy or something.

I remember that. I wonder if Vince will take him back bc TNA may fire him bc he's crazy.

[kanedagame]

here's a comment from an anonymous TNA star about the flair situation...

"The whole thing was stupid but most of us feel more sorry for him than upset. If someone told you everyone is mad, that's a lie. But, there are some pissed because it makes the entire crew look like a**holes and we are certainly tired of his sh**. Flair's asked several of us for money when he's had his credit cards declined. When that happens, the bar tab comes and others get stuck paying for the very drinks he said were on the house in the first place. Everyone loves the "Nature Boy", but when the limousines and party lifestyle is based on bad credit and lies, it suddenly becomes more pathetic than anything else. There is nothing glamorous about a guy who has no concept of money management and then lies to try and get out of it. The fact he has no money should be a lesson every wrestler today should take note on. Don't let this happen to you. If you read the Gorgeous George book that came out and then take an honest look at Ric, you realize, wow, that book is pretty much predicting his future - and that's not a happy ending."

Another source commented that the Flair incident was the best thing that could have happened to the company, since it forces management to deal with it first-hand and might make TNA a little more leery of continuing to bring in expensive veteran talent when the last year has shown no upside to it based on the current ratings. That source noted that the younger side of the locker room has started to unite against the veterans, feeling they are the ones pulling the cart with their work and working regularly on the road, while a number of the veterans (but not all) treat the company like it's their country club.

That source noted, "I respect what the older guys have done, but they aren't making us any money. Nothing reflects that. We would draw the exact same if 99% of them were gone. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to take a leap forward and I really think more and more that's where TNA is. Obviously, you need some veteran talents but there's a crew here that wants to build a company and we want to focus on that, not paying someone's bar tab and having to wait for him to fight it out with Craig Jenkins [TNA Management] when he doesn't get his way."

[Upgrade Dave]

Vince isn't fucking with him. He had the chance to bring him back before TNA brought him in and didn't.
Plus he owes 100k from a loan many years ago.

[THE DRIZZY]

If I was a company. I would use Flair as a color commentator and interviewer type of capacity. As far as being a storyline type of guy at his advanced age or even worse as a booker hellz to the noooooo!!!!!! As a color commentator and interviewer he stays in the business, it keeps him neutral from the boys and politics, and he will still have his fans. I would tell Flair to take it or leave it.

[kanedagame]

Flair has been on a scary path for years. While he was still in WWE, his financial problems were well-known, his long history of flashing people while drunk became very public via a lawsuit about the infamous "flight from hell," and the financial problems worsened after Beth, his second wife, divorced him after over two decades of marriage. She made some very serious allegations, the most public one being that he would beat her and then bust open his freshly scarred forehead so he would be bleeding heavily if he needed to make it look like he was defending himself. She received a very favorable settlement, worsening his financial problems. He remarried as soon as possible...twice, and there was a violent incident with his current wife last year that led to her being arrested.

He started a financing company that never got off the ground and was largely ridiculed. He lost more money in the process. He was attacked by his daughter's boyfriend a couple years ago in a strange incident that left him with a terrible black eye for weeks, which was immortalized in the shoot interview DVD he did with Highspots. During the interview, he proudly talked about getting recovering drug addict Shawn Michaels drunk, repeatedly trying and "failing" to get recovering alcoholic and drug addict William Regal to start drinking again, and turning John Cena (who didn't drink because he wanted to avoid any potential intoxicants so he didn't go down a bad path) into a big drinker.

Speaking of which, he's been sued by Highspots and Ring of Honor over various financial transactions, allegedly never paying back a loan to the former and deposits for appearances that weren't made for the latter. He held up convention promoter Greg Price for more money in a scene where he threw a public tantrum. After those financial disputes, his reputation was destroyed and independent appearances dried up, so he went to TNA.

Doing that, you aren't getting your money's worth out of Flair. TNA has the right idea but poor execution. When he comes out with Rob Terry and cuts promos, that's perfect. AJ and Beer Money don't need him to talk for them but a guy like Terry does.
Don't hate on Flair as booker. As head of the WCW booking committee, he did all the stuff we say WWE and TNA should do: push young guys.
I know what Mick Foley said but he didn't get a push in WWF until damn near everybody was gone.

Pretty much. Not to mention some finance company he borrowed money from and put the NWA title up for collateral. That company and ROH had to go to court to figure out who Flair owed the belt to.
