He's got to get the Sheen feud first. Did they build to that at all Monday night? SummerSlam is a couple weeks away, so they need to get to it.
You don't see the burial but you didn't see the Zack Ryder burial this winter as I was pulling my hair out as it was happening.

The Daniel Bryan thing isn't like the Zach Ryder situation where he was booked to look like an idiot and wasn't made to look strong at all when it happened. Bryan is still looking like a threat in the ring it's just that they're going farther with the personality aspect of it. And with AJ currently as GM he should still be featured prominently so as long as this doesn't turn into a losing streak storyline I don't have a problem with it though it does hurt that with Punk likely to hold the title until the Rumble he's out of that picture.

I see as just like the Ryder thing but on a grander scale . I think we can all agree that the masses started taking to Bryan right before Mania and the crowd response he got there put him over the top and made him one of the hottest guys there. Since that 18 sec demolition, he's won maybe one significant match. Great, great matches with Sheamus and Punk but still losses. Combine losses in the ring to losing his girl to taking a Rock Bottom (he didn't do one thing that made him look like a star on the most watched episode of Raw in at least a year) and he looks bad (and where was he not booked to look like an idiot?). Follow that up with ANOTHER loss and another asskicking, this one by Kane, and you have a guy that's not too far from being on the "Can't Take Him Seriously" list. Turning Punk hurts him and when Dolph does cash in, he's going to be moved over Bryan as well.
Bryan's position is fool's gold. It's shiny but it's worthless long term. As long as the "Yes!" shirts are selling, he'll be in a prominent position on tv but it's going to be him looking up at the lights 9 out of 10 times.

Ryder was/is a comedy character so he would've eventually run his course, DB is still a legit bad ass who can/ will avoid a burial. DB was in the ring with one of the greatest ever and took a finisher(not like Gunn who took a verbal ass kicking for weeks), assaulting a top guy like orton can bring all his heat back instantly.

It's always all about booking. I went to an EVOLVE show where they debuted "The Swamp Monster", a gimmick straight out of Memphis in 1982. It was a mess but the fan enjoyed it because it was goofy and didn't take away from the actual wrestling (he didn't wrestle, he was being restrained by "ManScout" Jake Manning).
Wrestling is best when there's something for everyone. A good company should have a good mixture of a lot of things: wrestlers, tag teams, women, midgets, gimmicks. It doesn't have to be a lot of gimmick wrestlers but there should be some to break up the monotony of one underwear model and muscleman after another. It could be a fun moment to pace out the more serious fare.

The fans liked it because it was harmless, but this isn't the 80s and you can't manipulate people into cheering/booing a wrestler just because you want them to. You can have the perfect booking but if the fans don't care for him them it won't matter.

Today marks 20 yrs since Ron Simmons became the first Black World champion of a major company in American history. Very emotional moment that actually brought many fans watching live to tears.

He would have but he wasn't allowed to run his course. He wasn't given half the rope Santino has been given.
Bryan is the truth, always has been and he's going to need more than assaulting a top guy, he's going to have to beat one, several times.

Fans don't just "not care" or "care", we have to be given a reason to care, that's booking. Wrestling fans come to be manipulated but the manipulation can't be jammed down fans' throats. Cena isnt as universally popular as he could be because he's poorly booked. If you have the perfect booking, fans will care. It's not like fans were believing the Undertaker was really dead in 1991.

Great moment. Even Jet magazine did a brief article on it. Simmons was very deserving. Plus he beat the baddest monster heel in the business at the time in Vader.

IMO Butch Reed should have been booked 7-8 years earlier to be the first black world champ he was extremely over in the mid 80's.

I've said it before but Butch Reed was the first Black wrestler that I ever saw that was "special". I had seen Tony Atlas and Ernie Ladd (later in his career) and some other good ones but Reed was the first guy who came off like he's going to be the champ. He's another guy you have to look at when people call Watts and Ole Anderson racists. They might have been but guys like Reed and JYD got the biggest and best pushes of their careers under those two in the deepest of Deep South states and territories.

I get what you're saying but Ziggler isn't even being booked as strongly as Miz was when he had the briefcase. Besides when he does cash in he'll be the main heel of Smackdown whereas somehow Bryan has become primarily a Raw wrestler.
I think that he should have gotten a win over Sheamus or Punk to get a title reign even if it would be brief. That said I waiting Monday for Del Rio to interfere since the stipulation could have allowed Bryan to win without Sheamus losing anything but they wanted to go the route of Bryan snapping. If they can transition this into him becoming more dangerous it would be a best case scenario. And I'm still waiting for him to bust out Cattle Mutilation.

They should've gotten bigger pushes in the WWF but Vince has never known how to deal with black wrestlers even to this day, remember when he had Simmons in a plastic gladiator helmet?:hmm: The Nation Of Domination was a great faction even when it became just "The Nation"(btw: The Nation tied for greatest theme song ever), but DX always had to get the upper hand and even as a young teen i knew back then what that was all about.

Damn 20 years already! Remember they gave him a parade and everything. "Doom" Ron Simmons and Butch Reed w/ Teddy Long was a team on par with the Road Warriors with the tough strong style

Ziggler does need to start putting some guys on their backs so if/when he wins the title, he can be taken seriously and have real shot.

Cattle Mutilation is a great move:yes:.
I would like to see Bryan bounce out of this strong and if he really puts it on Kane at SummerSlam, that will be a good sign but he's really been taking L's since cashing in the briefcase on Big Show. He's gotten over by accident and someone seems to resent it, like with Ryder.

watching Impact earlier,im guessing the big payoff to this whole AJ/baby angle will be for maury povich to appear?

The real payoff has been getting AJ, Daniels, Kaz and Kurt Angle in the ring in several ppvs. It's goofy as hell but Aces and Eights and A-Double vs Roode are the primary feuds.

The one Black wrestler, other than Rock, Vince and Co really put the rocket to was Ahmed Johnson and that dude was dangerous.
I thought the NoD was great once they streamlined it and got rid of guys like Crush and Savio.

The most underrated tag champs ever.

Crush was a joke member and Savio had the look of a NOD member but was not needed. According to Russo Rock gets full credit for his character and while Ahmed was dangerous he did have the look of a badass. I believe Russo it was Russo who said Vince didn't get Rock but he understood SCSA, in other words Vince will never understand black culture which is why we get shit like Cryme Tyme and R-Truth. Truth was great in TNA but he's become a joke in the WWE and apparently the only time a "thug" can be taken seriously is if he's white with dimples(Cena). It really seems like only white guys get the serious role and the black guys always get the goofy non threatening roles:smh:

Ahmed had the look for real, I was a huge fan but when he's consistently hurting guys, he's killing his own push because no way they put him in with Austin or Michaels or Taker and you can't get over if you don't beat those guys.
I thought they had finally figured out how to use Truth in a serious way but it's his own fault that his main event push got killed.
WWE has a bad history with Black wrestlers but some of them have been their own worst enemy.

VELVET SKY-TNA UPDATE
by Mike Johnson @ 6:03 PM on 8/6/2012

We may not have seen the last of Velvet Sky in TNA after all.
Several TNA sources confirmed that shortly after Sky received her release paperwork from TNA, she received a call from TNA President Dixie Carter.

According to one source, Carter contacted Sky to discuss what it would take to bring her back into the fold.

There's been no word on the two sides negotiating a new deal, but there were forces in TNA (possibly Carter) who were upset upon learning Sky had been released officially, citing the recent music video she had just shot through the company for Montgomery Gentry and the time TNA had put into developing her as a personality for the company.

As of this writing, Sky has not signed a new deal.

VELVET SKY-TNA UPDATE

Damn, I hope she don't re-sign with TNA! It would be more cool if Velvet & Angelina Love would sign with the WWE! Then they would arrive with Kelly Kelly forming the New Beautiful People taking over the now boring women's division!!

One could only dream!!

Well Rosa wasn't with Epico and Primo tonight because apparently she has accused her fiance, a former WWE wrestler known as Jackson Andrews aka Tyson Kidd's bodyguard, of committing domestic violence against her.

Raw finally had a Kelly Kelly match, but no Angelina Love or Velvet Sky... Drat The Luck!!:crymeariver:

I damn sure would watch it! It would be like the good ol' days with G.L.O.W. or W.O.W.!!:yes::yes:

Nash: Wrestling Died During Benoit & Guerrero Era

“When Benoit and Guerrero hugged [at the end of WrestleMania XX], that was the end of the business,” Nash says. “Has business been the same since that WrestleMania? Has it come close to the Austin era? Has it come close to the nWo or the Hogan era? You put two fucking guys that were great workers that were the same height as the fucking referees, and I’m sorry, man. Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick? Even if you’re not gay, you will not watch a porno movie with a guy with a three-inch dick. That’s not the standard in porno films. So you put a 5-foot-7 guy as your world champion.”
Nash has the same problem with today’s “Internet heroes,” CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.

“They are not bigger than life,” he says. “I bet they could both walk through airports and not be noticed unless they have a gimmick shirt on and the belt.”

Chavo Guerrero Sr. & JR Respond To Nash’s Rant

Chavo: “nash remain a f— moron idiot just because he was a freak and bigger than normal people he stll has no clue wt a wrestler .. entertainer or worker is my grandson that i am training noe cld have abetter match than him, idiot i can take his fat ass down now .. cant do a promo and if u saw his last promo in wwe with punk punk punked him he had no clue wt a waste of body maybe .. maybe his a syncronized wrestler diesel my ass”

Jim Ross: I’m an old school guy who thinks that wrestlers come in all shapes and sizes and that the final, final decree on how well said talents produce is ultimately left up to the consumer aka the fans.

Lots of sub six feet tall athletes have been huge box office draws in the biz over the years. There are too many to mention here.

No, I don’t agree with Kevin on his smaller wrestlers theory as I like all that have true talent. But I do defend his right to express himself and chuckle at the ability that he has to manipulate fans and peers alike in 140 characters or less.

Roddy Piper:“HOW CAN YOU NOT DIG JERICHO”

MVP:“Kevin Nash is right. Smaller guys don’t draw. I mean who would pay any money to watch itty bitty guys like Mayweather or Paquiao?”
Chris Jericho and Kevin Nash have also had heated discussions via Twitter in the last 24 hours since the comments were made.

So what is Kevin Nash's point? This is just a "big white stiff guy needs to be at top" rant. Fuck that. Those "lil guys" are what's keeping the business running.
