Where I was, I didn't have that so you know I sat there watching and then when they started talking about "Journey" and not Mania, I was :confused:. Then I remember seeing the second half before and that cleared it up.
Still, I agree with you. If Regis had been there, he would have said something about his match coming up.

Regis always made it a point to talk about wrestling when he wrestlers on as guest since he was such a huge fan, and this annoying broad couldn't have cared less because she wanted to play some stupid married couples game later on in the show.

This is a tangent but I think she's a good host for a morning talk show format.

Regis goes back to the regional California days of Freddie Blassie and John Tolos. If the talk show thing hadn't worked out, he would have been a great manager.

Funny you should say that because i always got that "Grand Wizard" vibe off him. He was devastated when Blassie died and he talked about how much it hurts when he hears about wrestler deaths because he goes so far back with them.

Ah, the Grand Wizard:yes:. When I first saw WWF tv, he was still there but I can't remember who he was managing so he must have been on his way out. Albano was the top manager at the time. But he had a look and a voice that was amazing to me.
I see Regis as more Jimmy Hart, a bundle of energy, always talking and running around, being a pest.

He's far and above everyone else in terms of popularity. He's the guy. Is he Stone Cold? No. Is he Hogan? No. But he is John Cena and he's been on top for a long time now."

He also revealed what he's enjoyed most about returning to WWE. He added: "The best part of me coming back is hearing them say, 'You've inspired me, thank you'. That's the greatest compliment that I can get. It's so cool man. They don't talk about movies. They don't talk about other matches. It's just, 'You've inspired me.'"

There are also details of Rock praising Sheamus for a match he had on last week's Smackdown.

Just downloaded the "Once In A Lifetime" documentary and get ready for a heavy dose of "Cena is a hard worker" footage. I thought the doc was okay but it won't sway your opinion of either man. Rock comes off looking better imo because they go in depth with his upbringing, including him talking about how them being evicted from their apartment in Hawaii while his father was off wrestling in the states. Cena comes off like the workhorse with his make a wish commitments and his stardom, but this video really shows you just how iconic & humble Rock really is.

It's a decent doc but you'll get the feeling that this was done more to try and get people to side with Cena, instead of building up this mega match between these two superstars.

This is why this feud is nowhere near Rock vs Hogan because while Rock has stuck to the script, you have guys like Cena doing interviews like this. Rock has tried to put Cena over but with Cena it's 1 week he respects Rock and then next week he's trying to rip his legacy. I'll be glad when this match is over with because i want to see who they try to blame when the WWE goes back to being mediocre again.

I don't think it's anywhere near any of the mega matches they've had before (Hogan/Andre, Rock/Hogan) because it's just booked in a boring manner.
I think both of them have stuck to the script, it's just a dumb script and at times, it seems like they're on two different scripts.
This is the difference between the old writers and writing style and the current one. They have the Rock and Chris Jericho coming back for them and neither is as hot as they should be.

I agree. All this talk is boring the hell outta me. Last weeks Raw was 80% talk.

So what's the script Rock puts Cena over & then Cena tries to tarnish Rock's legacy? I've said it before and i'll say it again, it looks like Cena & some of his boys have a different agenda because they don't act like this for any other legend. This feud is turning out to be one of the biggest flops of the decade and i blame the WWE & Cena, because all he's done is bitch the entire time and it's falling on deaf ears but he won't stop doing these dumb radio interviews. At least the Jericho/Punk feud has some give and take, whereas the Rock/Cena feud is just a last ditch effort to gain acceptance from the Cena haters. I mentioned in another thread that i would respect them more if they just admitted that they tried to make Cena into the next Hogan/Rock but it failed, but i hate how they try to cover up his failures as a testament to his passion for wrestling.

They don't wrestle any other "returning" legends. Taker hasn't wrestled anyone other than Kane and HHH in a couple years and Austin is retired.
If it's failing, it's primarily on the creative staff but both guys have to share some blame. Rock put over Cena but it's not even close to how many other times he's buried Cena, something I've been bitching about for over a year.
Cena can't match Rock in the witty putdowns so he goes in the other workshoot type way. If Rock didn't approve of it, they wouldn't do it.
I don't think they've failed to turn Cena into a new Hogan at all. It's just the environment is different and he works on tv more often than Hogan ever did. Hogan got booed too during the peak of his Hulkamania run. He got booed against Savage a lot and against Jake Roberts, which is why both of those guys got turned. He got booed at the Royal Rumble when he helped Flair eliminate Sid but they edited it to make it seem like the fans were cheering "Hogan!" instead of "Justice!" The whole reason they put Andre with Bobby Heenan is that people would sympathize with a guy saying "I've been undefeated and you never gave me a title shot." But with Cena, he's coming after the Attitude Era and so many of the shows he works on are live, they can't go back and edit the boos. Cena appeals to younger fans and looks like a superhero just like Hogan and he sells an assload of merch, so it's been a success but not as successful as it could be.
 
I think that with Rock allegedly sticking around Cena HAS to lose the first encounter. They can build to a rematch at Summerslam, which Cena can win.

Also, if they can convince Lesnar to comeback, Cena can wrestle him at Suvivor Series. In fact Cena can go on a crusade of fighting wrestlers that left the WWE to go on to other things. (Imagine him going on Pipers Pit and bitching about him doing "They Live") You can finish with a match against Austin at next years Wrestlemania.

Im not talking about wrestling just the whole vibe of Rock being there.

Cena could go out there and trash Rock because he's the top guy and they're not going to fire him, Vince cares more about them trashing his bullshit hypocritical "Be A Star" campaign.

Hogan got booed because Hulkamania became stale and he became one of the greatest heels ever, even if it took them a couple of more years to turn him.

Cena is as popular as he's ever going to be and there's no more upside to him, sorry to say but anyone expecting a heel turn is in for disappointment because of all the Merch/charity work he does.
