Was it just me or did The Rock look like he wanted to cry. He pulled it together though. That was a good segment.
Maybe if Cena did have notes on his wrist he'd be able to cut a better promo from time to time.
The Rock as usual did his thing, the man can control an audience from start to finish like no other. Also if i was the WWE i'd be real careful because they're starting to make Cena the heel in this match and it isn't good for the companies number one guy to get shitted on this much this often by a non regular wrestler.

I doubt he'll turn heel at WM but during that match he will get booed louder then when he fought Punk for the title in Chicago

I get the feeling that they can't stand each other.
i got the feeling that the Rock was doing his normal entertaining stuff and that as he was running down Cena with jokes someone in the back told Cena to shoot on The Rock to get himself over again cause it looked like Rock was seriously pissed off to the point where it started stumbling over his words. the only bad thing about it is that it makes Cena look like the heel in the whole feud, it's looking like they may decide to play up Cena as heel only because that's all he can play in this match because the fans will not side with him over The Rock.
I expect to see Rock be more serious and less funny from this point forward.

It's just you because Cena dragged that entire segment down, and him calling out Rock for the bullet points on the arm is hilarious because Punk had bullet points written on his wrist tape during his shoot. He was also rehearsing it with his friends backstage, it's not a bad thing because they all do it and it's common knowledge they have to have them because of time constraints. The top stars can say what they want but they have to hit certain points to get the story over. On a side note i thought Punk/Jericho had a great exchange but i feel Jericho held back.

I don't know if you can call it a good promo but he got in a really good shot and then got the hell out of dodge before the Rock could respond. It may have been the worse thing possible for Cena cuase it would be one thing if this was the last Raw before Mania but there is plenty of time for the Rock to try to destroy Cena verbally if he so chooses and we all know that Cena is not on Rock's level promo wise so it could easily happen.
I just wish Rock got to the point. He called Cena a liar but never really got into why other that "He can reach me because he has my number."
I'll be interested in the news tomorrow on whether or not Cena's line were off the top or scripted. I agree that they should have saved a promo like that for the Raw before Mania because they just gave the Rock a month to come back and verbally destroy Cena. It will probably be worst for Cena if he did do a shoot tonight because Rock will definitely take the gloves off and respond in kind during their next encounter.

I agree 100% but imo i think the smiling is a way to make the insults seem lame. It sucks because Rock & Austin never smiled at each other and i don't remember people in the 80s smiling at each other, and if they were it was because a sadistic ass whipping was about to take place. Punk was much better in his promo with Jericho than Cena was with Rock, but i still say Jericho had a perfect opportunity to ether Punk when he kept saying he was "The Man".

It's easy to get lost in a promo and everyone from Hogan Savage(who was a perfectionist btw) and Austin have all had stuff written for them. I doubt that people are going to care much outside of the ugh...Cenation, and judging by the post show reports the fans were still behind Rock and Cena was booed more during the dark match main event. The most ridiculous thing about this feud is Cena claiming he's fighting for the boys in the back, hell how many of those boys has he helped?

They should want Cena to look like he's on Rock's level. Cena's spent most of the last year getting eaten up and retaliating with some really soft shit with the occasional nice shot. But you're right and that's why I thought they should save the face to face until the week before WM. Punk and Jericho are already face to face. HHH and Taker are face to face. Make Rock and Cena different and build it up, week to week so when they do have their first faceoff, you might draw some ratings.

Wrestling has writers now but it didn't always. They used to get their bullet points from the booker and have to make it happen when they got in front of the camera and the audience.
They probably gave Rock and Cena too much time (like Punk and Jericho) and it had it's lulls but you never, ever use insider terms on tv, that's Russo shit and it never gets over in really big companies.
I think Punk has the ability to go at someone without smiling, but it just seems like a really cheap way to make your opponents promo look bad which helps no one. Aside from the dumb smiling i was proud of Punk because he seemed like the old Punk, and not the kiss ass he's been for months now. After last night i would love to see a Rock/Punk promo showdown because both would make the other step their game up.
They should but this feud is going to be bad if they handicap one person while letting the other one go off. If Rock and Cena go full bore Rock will win, but if you minimize Rock and let Cena go hard then he will look like an equal.
Yeah the writing on the wrist is not a good look but who noticed it until Cena pointed it out? You're right about insider references because you can look at Punks promos this past year as proof. When he's ripping into the guy he gets cheered but when he brings up backstage crap and his friends the fans are silent.

That was the difference between Punk during the summer and Punk against Nash last fall (which never did payoff and Nash got to retire without putting over a younger guys. Asshole). He and Nash went way inside and lost people. That shit might work in ROH with a more internet/inside audience but it's dead in WWE and not very effective in TNA.

They don't have to be but when they're your main event for your biggest show of the year and in years, you have to present them as if they were. Ric Flair wrestled a lot of guys who had no business being in World title matches but with his promos and bumping, he (and whatever territory or booker) made them look like they could be the champ. The reason the buyrate for Survivor Series was down even with the Rock on it was they didn't present Truth and Miz as on their level. Even in this new era, people want that illusion. Some things in wrestling never change.

True but imo when the WWE let Taker & HBK use creative control of their feud that's when it really took off, they need to let Rock & Cena do the same because you can't force people to like Cena and hate Rock.

That three team tag match could have been and should have been saved for Mania. Given time, those six could have a good match with enough highspots and big bumps to make up for no MitB (at least a little). Plus it would have made the tag title important.

In the short time they were in there i like what i saw, yet they continue to be shortsighted when it comes to Mania. I believe Rock v Cena will live up to the hype, but it's almost like Y2J and Punk have no choice but to have a 5 star classic.
