:smh:

To follow up on Mike Johnson's report on Wade Barrett's elbow dislocation that he suffered at Raw last night, WWE.com reported today that Barrett will be undergoing an MRI and will miss at least 6 to 8 weeks, which means he is out for WrestleMania. That was a stiff spot for sure.

Just when they started to get behind him again too:smh:

I remember when he first told that story and I thought "Damn Steve, are you trying to write a bigger check for Jeannie?":D
If there's no incentive, why be "inspired"? It used to be, that guys worked hard and got themselves over and were rewarded, that's no longer the case. Now when you get over, they bury you to "test you out" and sometimes forget about you (Drew McIntyre, Zeke, MVP, etc, blah, blah) so what's the point? Austin came up with the whole SCSA gimmick (needs to break bread with the Sandman too) but he still didn't get a push until Bret came back and started talking him up.
Someone is going to have to start beating them again or Vince is going to have to retire/die for there to be any change in WWE longterm.

Bret vs Austin will always stand as a perfect example of how to build someone up, all we get now is a top guy (Cena HHH & lesser extent Punk)tearing down a guy and then expecting us to take him seriously. I have all the Raws from 96-97 and the way Austin stalked Bret was as great of writing as you will ever see. Austin demeaned Bret as much as he could but always let the fans know that he "had" to beat him, which kept Bret as a top legit star and Austin the psychotic challenger.

Bret making Austin look like a legit threat is what happens when someone with an ego puts it aside for the good of the business. I remember the Survivor Series match and how they made it feel big time, and when they were announced for Mania it had the Rock/Austin X7 feel to it. I also can't leave out Pillman(R.I.P) who was very integral part of the whole storyline.

If he had been a younger guy having two fucked up Raw matches (blowing that RKO last week was terrible) in a row like that, he would be in deep shit.

Now that the dust has settled and we know that aside from Barrett everyones ok, that will probably go down as one of the worst Raw matches of the year.

Just when they started to get behind him again too:smh:

My exact thought when I saw the story. That's a major reason why WWE needs to push or at least make credible more guys so when you lose Christian, ADR, Rey, Mark Henry, and Barrett all around the same time, you have guys to take their place and don't have to rush anyone back too soon.

That's tearing down guys shit has been around for a while and I hate it. Bret didn't do that. Flair didn't do it. I don't even think Hogan did it (in front of fans, that is). That's just not how you build guys up.
But then again, when the younger/newer guys work with HHH/Cena/Orton/Punk they do the job or at the most, get a countout/dq finish after getting their ass kicked for 10 minutes. I don't blame them entirely but not one of them would be a main eventer if a lot of someone else's hadn't laid down for them and made them look strong.

:yes:Just a disaster. I watched the SD battle royal and I thought they were going out kind of wild then too. It's like they were trying to top the last battle royal last night and people got hurt.
Lazy booking and thoughtlessness got some people hurt and just cost Wade Barrett at least a six figure bonus.

A few things about Ron Simmons

It's amazing to see that even in 92, the crowning of the first Black World champion (of a major national company) brought tears to some eyes.
It's also noteworthy that it came while the booker/executive producer of WCW was Bill Watts, a man known by many as a racist but who pushed more Black wrestlers as main eventers than anyone else I can think of, even to this day.

The video package they did for him Monday was great but they forget one little piece of info: Ron and Butch Reed as Doom are the second longest reigning WCW World tag team championship behind the Outsiders, who didn't actually defend it very much.

The thing is you can tear a guy down but if he's not equipped with solid mic skills then all you've done is bury him, Hogan on the other hand did all his BS backstage(WM9:smh:.

I don't think Barrett would've been high enough on the card or important enough to get that much. Six figures will be reserved for Rock Cena Taker & HHH, everyone else will get between 5-20G which is great money in itself.

He doesn't need solid mic skills at all. He would need the bookers to book him like an asskicker to undo the badmouthing he took. But if you do that, the guy that said he was trash comes off as looking like trash himself for losing to a "nobody".

Barrett would have gotten a six figure joint because they're pushing him now and he would have had a similar position as Cody last year. Those guys you mentioned take home a 7 figure bonus. Why do think Taker makes sure to come back for Mania? Fuck "The Streak", that nigga ain't leaving no money on the table at this point of his career.
Hogan and Andre were taking home 6 figures back in 87 so main guys are making a lot more now.

Was Punk booked like an ass kicker? He got noticed because of a "shoot" promo. He gets treated like a crusierweight champ at times but he always relies on his mic skills in the end.

Not really because Austin was making 200G when he first went to the WWF and now the starting salary is only 50G. I remember Lashley making 300G for the Trump match and if Hardy had agreed to stay for WM 26 he was scheduled to make 6 figures, but trust me they don't hand out the big 6 to just anybody.

He wasn't, that's why he wasn't taken seriously as a main eventer until he cut an incredible promo. He was one of those guys who did okay until he faced HHH/Cena/Orton/Taker and then he lost, every single time or his win would be some bullshit.
If he had went out and lost to Cena at MitB, then no one would have been checking for him when he came back, promo or no promo. Talking is great but if it's not backed up in the ring, you're just talking.
There were a ton of guys who couldn't hold a candle to Ric Flair on the mic but they were booked to look like they were threats and it helped that Flair always acted like they were the most dangerous opponent he had ever faced.

I know that. I didn't say Swagger or Santino was getting 6 figures:D but they seem to like the "Barrett Barrage" and he would have gotten a great spot. Where I couldn't tell you since they don't have any good feuds outside the world title pictures and Cena-Rock.
He definitely would be better off than he was last ye

Is there any word on whether or not MITB is coming back to Mania. I ask cause I've figured that the way they've been pushing Barrett, he would have been a good pick to win it. I would say that Dolph would be the most likely next choice, but with Barrett out, Orton no longer has a hot feud going into Mania. I could see them throwing somebody like Dolph or Miz under the bus in order to give Orton a nice pop at Mania.

I was thinking that MITB was but with recent events I think that they're gonna use the Team Long vs Team Laurinitis match to get a large number of guys on the show instead.

I almost forgot Smackdown is coming on tonite...I guess I'll have something to look at after all.

:( I really hope they don't do that. They have that Bragging Rights PPV and Survivor Series for that kind of match.

2 observations: 1) It seems like they're setting up Big Show vs Cody Rhodes for Mania 2) Why in the hell are they jobbing Mark Henry out. For 8 months he was a complete badass laying a path of destruction and for the last 2 weeks they have been trying to undo all of that with him blatantly getting his ass kicked. Work through an injury, perform better than ever, do everything you can for the company so they can break you down.:smh:

So did they give up on getting Shaq and this shit with Mark Henry is some ol' bullshit. It's coming off like they don't have anything for him at Mania, so they're just jobbing him out for the people they are using on the big show. It's WWE's short term thinking running rampant. Why are they crushing his push now. Why not let him have the month off to nurse his injuries, then have him come back after Mania whopping ass and looking like a bad ass.

I've been saying the exact same thing. Why not just let him rest and heal and let him be Sheamus' first opponent after Mania?
My question is: if he's healthy enough to wrestle Monday and Tuesday, why didn't they use him Sunday instead of Khali or Santino?

All good questions and points.
And this isn't something Mark Henry has control over. He's done his job, worked hard while injured and still he's getting jobbed out coming up on the biggest show of the year. So what's the incentive for younger guys to work to improve if it can all be taken from you on the whims of stupid writers?

WWE DENIES CELEBRITY APPEARANCE AT WRESTLEMANIA
by Mike Johnson @ 8:42 AM on 2/22/2012

WWE has posted an article on their official website, stating that despite his claims, basketball star and actor Shaquille O’Neal is not scheduled for Wrestlemania in Miami.

We'll see. But if he's going to be there, they need to get it going.

love this

Love this video and it really should speak to all the young guys in the back bitching about the Rock coming back and taking away a spot.
How many of them would have completely fucked up that knife stick catch or wrestle four matches on a major PPV?

I can just see a couple of those knuckle heads picking up the stick from off the mat. Orton damn sure would had missed it.

The problem is not getting the opportunity to find out. That's not Rock's fault, though.

Attitude Era videos make me want to cry, man. Good wrestlers, good stories, good times.

They were but it's become overly romanticized over time. Give me the 80s with Crockett with the Horsemen over any era.

Dave i agree about the opportunity but im starting to think that there are no crossover stars on the roster.

The AE was a great time in wrestling but i'll put it like this, give me the realism of the 80's with the ratings of the 90's:yes:

From PWInsider
There is said to be more than a few people within WWE that are genuinely complaining about The Rock returning and being featured for WrestleMania 28.

The argument is there about The Rock not working with WWE full-time but some feel that you don't want The Rock around every month because he's a special attraction.

While there are some people openly complaining about The Rock, it's said that you mostly hear about the negative feedback from people who are upset at The Rock's haters.

It sounds like the Rock has more support than haters and that's good, but i still state that they better act the same way when Austin makes his inevitable return for one more match. Im guessing HHH, Taker, Big Show, Kane, Jericho and anyone who worked with Rock aren't on that list.

I think its more jealousy. Rock accomplished everything in wrestling, then went to Hollywood and became an action star/legit actor. All the guys left there can't seem to break thru like he did. Cena has done movies all flops, everything is straight to dvd now or in extremely limited release. They probably gonna start hating on Batista cause he got a big part in the Riddick movie and if that gears of war movie pops off. If Cena became the kind of movie star Rock is he wouldn't say shit, and he wrestling in the PG era so he doesn't have to take the bumps the Rock did, unguarded head shots with chairs, REAL cage matches, blading, banned moves all that shit is done for, so he's not taking the punishment Rock did. Stop bitching, Vince asked him to come back, I mean who's gonna go to work when they don't have to?? So he should leave the set to go back on the road and do what he's already reached the top of the business when it had compettition?

To be fair Cena has taken punishment before the pg era, but i do think that people are jealous that Rock did what every wrestler dreams of doing and that's become a legend and leave.

I got a real question maybe its been answered and I just didn't see it. Why is the WWE so scared to let Cena lose?? 2 on 1, 3 on 1, Nexus on 1 he doesn't lose that's bad booking!!!

Because they actually believe that him losing will hurt him, which is dumb because there have been plenty of stars who lost a lot.

Another Report from NoDQ
Following Rey Mysterio's visit backstage at last week's Raw SuperShow in San Diego, California, any mention of his name to WWE brass reportedly resulted in a very negative speech. There has been underlying friction on management's part due to tough contract negotiations and not returning from injuries as early as they'd like. Also, some feel because of his small stature, he's lucky to be employed to WWE.

If this is real then there are some truly retarded people in the WWE.

So let me get this straight. He's been in the company for about a decade been a world champion multiple times, been a huge merchandise seller who is also one of the performers most capable of delivering a great match and yet he's lucky to be with the company. Maybe the company is run by retards cause that doesn't make a lick of sense. He has had some injury issues but he's always come back and still performed at a high level. This is what happens when a company is run by senile old men in tandem with yes men and dumbasses and has no real competition.

Maybe one of the many wrestling aficionados in this thread could help with the following request. During the build up for HBK / Hogan they had a Monday Night Raw in Canada. I forget the particulars but I remember Shawn looked like he was setting up Hogan for the superkick, but when he got close, he stopped and put Hogan in the sharpshooter instead.
The crowd started fucking booing like crazy.

Somebody hook us up with that video.
