They gave Taker some weave too?

I was wondering what they would do about that after that picture surfaced on the net like a month ago where Taker was practically shaven bald.

Lots of Interesting Backstage Notes from the Royal Rumble
Date Added: January 30, 2012
Story By: Steve Carrier
- WWE decided to have Sheamus win the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble to throw a curve ball at fans who were expecting Chris Jericho to win. Michael Cole's line about which title will Sheamus challenge for at WrestleMania 28 was designed to make fans believe the storyline were just shaken up big time. WWE officials are high on the way Sheamus presents himself and have had plans to push him hard for the past year.
- WWE officials also had several scenarios planned out for Randy Orton to win in his hometown of St. Louis.
- Christian is reportedly ready to return to the ring but WWE officials decided to keep him off the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
- One of the ideas WWE officials were discussing for the Royal Rumble would have seen John Cena enter, win the match and earn a title shot at WrestleMania 28. The storyline would have then saw Cena be forced to choose between a WWE Title match and the match against The Rock.
- Talk at last night's Royal Rumble pay-per-view was that there will be a big payoff angle between Kane and John Cena at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view next month.
I'm just now watching Raw via WB (couldn't catch it live since I was at work). Random question, anyone think someone in the company is smashin' Vicky on the low?

They gave Taker some weave too?

So we're stuck with HHH-Taker III at Mania. Might be good but it's a wasted opportunity to elevate a new main eventer. No way they top last year.
Punk vs Bryan on Raw? Thank you very much. Non-finish? Appropriate but Daniel gets out of another match without actually beating anyone. He's won exactly one match, not counting cashing in MitB, in months.
Props to Punk and Bryan for doing the Code of Honor on Raw.
The Ziggler push is over...AGAIN. Dude just got beat 5 times in 2 days. How will you ever get fans to take him seriously anytime soon?
Good for Kofi, a win over Miz. Now he can do jobs for 6 more months.
If they turn Cena, who moves into his spot? A feud with Punk but then who? There are only three strong faces in the whole company.
Seriously this was one of the better raws minus that awful opening segment, that had to be one of the most awkward goodbye songs ever
Im surprised the internet is still working considering they had a Punk/Danielson matchSeriously this was one of the better raws minus that awful opening segment, that had to be one of the most awkward goodbye songs ever

Punk vs Danielson ON RAW!!!!!! Somebody somewhere had to change their draws last night.
It was pretty alright in spots but they need to string together a few good ones in a row like Impact! has been doing especially after that ppv.
I like Naomi and Cameron's butt bump better when they aren't aligned right and Cam's butt is on top of Naomi's. That almost made me have to change MY draws.

They could've at least hit it with the flat iron real quick.I like Naomi and Cameron's butt bump better when they aren't aligned right and Cam's butt is on top of Naomi's. That almost made me have to change MY draws.

Man I rewind to watch that part about 5 times. Somebody needs to gif that part.
Why Mason Ryan’s WWE Push Was Halted & MoreBy Ryan Clark on February 2, 2012
Although Bobby Lashley is interested in resuming his professional wrestling career, WWE reportedly “wants no part of him right now.”
WWE officials weren’t happy about how he left the company years ago after receiving a large push, not to mention that there are lingering issues with creative head Michael Hayes.
As of right now, it appears Lashley will be sticking with MMA as there have been no talks between his team, WWE or TNA.
By Ryan Clark on February 2, 2012
Mason Ryan’s sizable push was halted weeks ago due to his inability to connect with the audience. Nonetheless, WWE creative plans on renewing his push in the near future as they feel he has great potential. The Welsh wrestler was ultimately kept off Sunday’s 30-Man Royal Rumble Match because they felt it would have done “nothing positive” for him.
Vince McMahon at least initially had an “infatuation” with Ryan, hence his fast track to the main roster last year and subsequent protection on television.

You say the rock bottom spoiled it but imo Jericho successfully pissed Rock off and Rock just snapped and was at a loss for words. Jericho admitted back in 2002 i believe when they were doing a retrospect that when he got owned by Rock & Taker the smart thing to do would be to watch what he said to some people, that was smart on his part and to his credit he still killed it on the mic. I really hate to do this but i give Cena his credit because he does seem to have thick skin especially given the absolute verbal destruction at the hands of Rock. I want to see Punk & Rock in a promo because as long as he doesn't do one he can claim he would kick his ass in a word battle.
Boy you analyze everything don't you![]()

You see I wasn't the only one who noticed that little switch up.Report: WWE Not Interested In Bobby Lashley

When Rock dropped him, it killed damaged his heat with me. Let Jericho put the hand up and walk the fuck off with Rock standing there, thunderstruck the same way he leaves guys.
Rock and Punk in a feud would be good but they would have to do it like Crockett used to let Flair and Dusty go at it. None of that face off week after week bullshit that is so over done. Just guys come out separately, cut promos on each other, building up to a face off on the last show before the ppv (maybe).
Gatdamn right!!!You see I wasn't the only one who noticed that little switch up.
See dirty, this is the shit I'm talking about. You can't compare anything from now to Attitude or even the Hulkamania era because they can't do shit right.
Ryan sucks as a wrestler but how can you not use the Rumble to build a jacked monster like him? Let him throw out 7-8 guys like Diesel and Kane and then make sure it takes two or three guys to get him out. How fucking hard is that?

The only problem is that Punk will come off like a dick the same way with he did with HHH and even JL recently with his whole "failed at life" line, Rock, Austin, HHH, Jericho & HBK are at that level where you can say whatever you want but the life long fans will always back the legends. The moment Rock comes out and goes at Punk it will destroy him, what was evident to me at Survivor Series was what a real star looks like compared to what is considered a star now.
The whole monster thing is lame simply because beating the shit out of jobbers means nothing, but if he were to attack the top stars then maybe people would take notice. Vince's motto is "I want you to be a star without beating any stars"![]()
That's okay, he could be a dick since he would fit into a heel mode much better than trying to ram Cena into it like many people want.
You can't compare what happened with HHH because Hunter didn't really play fair. He was doing "Mr McMahon" like Johnny Ace is, he put himself in the face position of "Look at all the things I did for you to get you back here" so Punk looked like a spoiled child complaining and that would be great if that was his gimmick but he was the hottest face going at the time and HHH cut his knees out from under him. Dusty was the booker for Crockett the entire run of the Horsemen and the Midnight Express and he never cut them down like that.
The things you want to put on Punk aren't Punk's fault because when left to himself, he draws money and attention. It's when the office gets involved that things go downhill.

That's my problem right there if a guys great and he can draw etc etc then why was it so easy for him to lose momentum? Creative has done a lot to fuck up pushes and wrestlers, but there comes a point when you have to look at the guy. MITB drew a higher buyrate than the previous year but not by much and SummerSlam actually did worse than the 2010 version. What's really not a good look for him is he's the champ and he can't even close the show because of low ratings. HHH could've come out there and played heel and people would still cheer him because at the end of the day HHH > Punk in terms of legacy.
You bring up the Crockett promotion but do you remember the Von Erich/Freebirds rivalry? That was the greatest rivalry in wrestling history imo because that to me epitomized a wrestling war. A modern version would be Rock & Austin going back and forth because no matter what either one said to the other that person was never damaged.
PS: Funny little scene at the Rumble with Big Show trying to give Orton's daughter his hat![]()

The ratings for the second hour have been dipping below the first hour long before Punk became champ, he just didn't reverse the trend because he's not feuding with anyone that people care about. There is a point where you look at the guy but Punk isn't doing anything to fuck up his push, Creative is. He didn't kill his momentum, they did. You think it was his idea to come back so fast?
If HHH comes out and heels Punk, people wouldn't have any problem booing him because Punk was red hot and people are more than willing to buy HHH as a dickish, overbearing heel. He's not like Rock and Austin as far as his popularity goes.
I enjoyed it but the Von Erichs won way too much for it to be the greatest feud. But, even with that, both factions were presented as strong for the most part. There's not one heel in WWE that's been booked to look consistently strong with the slight exception of the Miz in the build up to Mania. Punk almost but just as he got hot, they flipped him. If there are no strong heels, the faces can't get over as strong. Austin got over because he had Bret Hart in his way. And then Shawn Michaels and DX (with Mike fucking Tyson) and then he was feuding with his boss. You can't get better heels to go against. Punk has had Alberto Del Rio, who hadn't one a single big match all year and the extra lame John Lauranitis. He got pinned by HHH and then lost in the tag match with Miz and Truth (couldn't let HHH take the pin, could we?). He just spent the last month with Ziggler but no one believes in Dolph Ziggler anymore. Punk has prove he can put asses in seats but they have to let him do it.
All i have to ask now is this, who do they have besides Cena that can make people feel the way they did about the von erich/freebird feud or Rock/Austin? Forget all the miscellaneous stuff i said about Punk my only question is can he make a star? You can't say he's a star the turn around and say he needs stars to work with.
Yes, I can. Every star needs other stars to work with. No one is made on their own. Ric Flair couldn't draw flies in Florida as NWA champion because Eddie Graham, out of spite, booked him against midcarders instead of Dusty Rhodes. Dusty couldn't give tickets away in Georgia when he was headlining against the Missouri Mauler but it turned around when he was feuding with Ole Anderson. I gave you Austin's list. Rock had Austin, Foley, HHH, and Taker. The Von Erichs were already on top in Texas but they set records when they had the Freebirds. No one even cares what they were doing before The 'Birds got there. The last matchup they had that could draw money was Cena-Punk and they killed it. Wrestling works best when you present a strong heel against a strong babyface, the more sympathetic the babyface the better.
As a Texas native im calling bullshit on that, they were big but the freebirds made them legendary. And once again Dave who do they have besides Cena? Punk can't make stars and there are no stars strong enough to get the wrestling worlds attention. What's ironic is that the WWE is making the same mistake WCW did, they thought Rock & Austin would be around forever and they never developed other people. I agree with what you're saying but can you see where im coming from?
The reality is todays star is yesteryears mid-carder, looking back Edge would be the perfect example on how to create a star. It was a slow burn but he never lost momentum and his push was consistent. Working with big stars(especially ones with big egos)can also hurt you because Sting never recovered from Starrcade 97.
What are you calling bullshit on, that's exactly what I said? The Von Erich popularity was big regionally but the Freebird feud made them international stars.
I can see where you're coming from the reason they don't have stars is completely Vince and Co.'s fault. I can't name a top heel back in the day that lost as much as ADR or Wade Barrett (before the Barrett Barrage) or Sheamus (before they turned him).
Edge is a good example but Sting isn't. There are a bunch of guys who could be stars today if they got the Edge kind of build.
Sting was the most popular guy in WCW at the time and had been for years. Starrcade 97 hurt WCW way more than it hurt Sting.
If they had done like they were supposed to, Sting would have been shot to that upper level with Hogan and Flair. Working with big stars is the only way to elevate guys because midcarders working with each other can only get them so high.

I was calling bullshit when you said no cared, but you contradicted yourself when you admitted they were big regionally
I remember the next day at school all my friends talked about how much that match sucked, Sting was still popular but he pretty much stalled after that.
No contradiction. I meant, and should have typed, no one cared outside Texas. But the Freebirds, who were big from being main eventers in major territories like Georgia and Mid South, elevated them. It also helped that Ric Flair had caught fire as NWA champion. With Flair and the Freebirds, the Von Erichs met their matches and attendance went crazy. Strong heels to combat strong faces.
That match did suck but it was the day everyone points to that led to WCW demise. They hurt Sting but they (Hogan, Bischoff) killed WCW.

I love these back and forth conversations down memory lane. Feels like I'm back in middle school.
Not to interrupt or nothing, but I just wanted to come in and sayI love these back and forth conversations down memory lane. Feels like I'm back in middle school.
Just wanted to say that and say thank you for the memories .... Carry On
They're only good when the people involved can go way back. If the days of the nWo and Stone Cold are the "good old days" to you, stay the fuck out of conversation with me and dirty. Just sit back and listen/read and remember to check YouTube to see what we're talking about.
You're welcome.![]()
