I went back and watch Rampage, This was a good match!!...The Rampage show this week was good..Go back and check it out when you have time!!..
As I mentioned before I've been getting back into wrestling after a fairly long hiatus, and thankful to the poster who linked me to the aew ppv so I could check it out and I think I can safely and confidently answer why they hadn't been able to break through with fans.
And I mean no disrespect to aew fans(enjoy what you enjoy, makes no difference to me!) I am happy that there's a place where wrestlers are getting massive pay check...but
Aew has to be the hands down worst brand of wrestling I have ever witnessed, and that includes the Russo chicanery at wcw lol the characters are all forgettable and terrible, the storylines are either non existent or forgettable, the style of wrestling is closer to cirque de sole than to anything that's supposed to even resemble an actual fight between two people, I saw one guy named Eddie Kingston who looked like the dude who trims my hedges throwing slaps and knees so awkward and slow that the people I was watching with literally walked out of the room. All while the audience goes wild like they're watching one of the all time great matches, this is awesome!...not it's not! there's no suspense or storytelling in the matches, zero in ring psychology, it's just a bunch of heavily choreographed "look what I can do" bullshit. I've seen backyard companies with more compelling matches.
If this wasn't being funded by an out of his mind billionaire this dog shit would have folded ages ago.
God damn this shit is terrible.

I want it to succeed but I just cannot get fully invested in AEW, it's just too corny for me. And you hit the nail on the head with Eddie Kingston, the guy looks like he should be trimming hedges or delivering washers and dryers......His chop move set is embarrassing.

Lol I was holding back, I see people are passionate about aew(all three of them who watch lol) so I don't want to shit on it too hard, but it is just not for me. I am glad that wrestlers are making a killing off tony though lol good for them!
Definitely gotta check this out, the fiend was one of the first gimmicks that caught my eye after my hiatus from watching. The whole dual character thing was great imo.
Shaping up to be a good show. I'll definitely be watching this. Stardom in America! Let's go!
Mariah has been doing superb work thus far in AEW! Definitely my favorite AEW female wrestler right now until Jamie Hayter comes back.

No disrespect taken. And some might think I am not an AEW fan, but I HAVE to call bullshyt when I see it! I can't blindly enjoy a product just cause it ain't WWE (which I am becoming a fan of again) The only issue I take is with Eddie Kingston while you are correct, no argument, but we have a Kevin Owens. Now I am not saying that a Kevin Owens is a Eddie Kingston, just drawing a parallel as Kevin used to be looked at as a guy that would come and fix your kitchen sink. That Performance Center is a saving grace. Where indy talent can go and perfect their craft. People seem to forget how WWE used to look before the Performance Center when you had to set time to work matches out in a closed arena. Where the top guys got to work and everybody else had to workout shyt hours. The womens division and lower roster wrestlers used to be garbage!
And Cirque De Sole? Are you acting like EVERY hispanic (except Andrade) wrestler in WWE doesn't do the same thing? I think what WWE does VERY well is space those kinds of matches out.

I've NEVER been one to get wrapped up in a wrestler's physique. I grew up watching Dusty Rhodes. Did he have a great physique? Of course not but he knew how to cut a promo and work in the ring and is one of the all-time greats in the business. If we're gonna make the argument that Eddie Kingston could very well be fixing a kitchen sink you can also say Dusty could very well be working at General Motors. People need to get past the whole "Vince McMahon every wrestler has to have a steroid looking physique" narrow minded nonsense and enjoy the show. Kingston is over with the AEW fanbase because the average person can relate to him. His realness comes across in his promos. He's probably one the best promo guys in AEW and as a workrate guy I would definitely say his ring work has improved since he first came to AEW. He's adopted the All Japan Kings Road style which suits him perfectly.
There's some good to the Performance Center but it's definitely not the end all be all. If anything indy talent (especially women) should take tours to Japan to really learn how to work in the ring. The Performance Center will help get you TV ready but won't make you a well rounded wrestler.
Not only that but Lucha Libre is a legit style of pro wrestling with an history dating back to the 1800's. This whole idea that every wrestler has to fit into one particular style or else it's not pro wrestling is retarded. There are many different styles of wrestling. There is no one way to do it. If everybody did the same style that shit would be boring as fuck. Variety is the spice of life. Also, this narrative that it has to look like an actual fight is bullshit! Nobody is doing Irish whips in a real fight. Wrestling is a performance not a fight. It requires cooperation and choreography from both parties involved. To really make wrestling look like an actual fight you would have to book it to look like MMA/UFC and nobody is gonna pay to watch a fake version of that when you can watch the real thing.

This was around the time when I fell in love with Mina. This was in 2022 when Mina faced off against Saya Kamitani for the white belt. Saya botched a Phoenix Splash spot off the top rope and landed on Mina's face busting out her teeth leaving her mouth a bloody mess. Mina was helped to the back then cut a promo with her mouth fucked up. She was out for two months then came back and challenged Saya again winning in the rematch. The incident with Saya was looked at as a breakout point in Mina's career as she came back stronger and greatly improved in the ring. Now she's in the upper midcard of Stardom on the doorstep of entering the main event scene. She's come a long way in two years.

Very cringe, but at least she's trying to evolve her character. Not unlike when Earthquake showed as Avalanche or Big Boss Man showed up as Guardian Angel both on WCW TV lolz.
She lost me when she says "if you watch. every single week on Dynamite, you are not going to like, want to miss anything...." though. You can tell she didn't even believe the words coming out of her mouth when she said that.
